Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

OMG that's just 4 days away!! You and your family must be getting soooo excited. Where are you staying? You might have already shared on the Mickey thread, but I'd love to hear details. I'm living vicariously through all the rest of you with disney trips this year. ;)

We are so very excited! Still need to get packed, though. We are staying at Bonnet Creek, where we always stay. We have a 3 bedroom presidential booked there. We love it. It's so much roomier than a hotel room. We usually always stay there, but I'm looking forward to checking out a Disney resort again soon. We have stayed at Animal Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, and the Grand Californian, Pop Century, and the Contemporary. I want to stay at the Grand Floridian!! We will be doing the parks in full speed! I can't wait!

Thanks!!

Well, I'm back!! My goal was to finish with a time of about 45 minutes. The first time I did a 5k in my hometown it took me 50 minutes 2 weeks ago. I finished this one in....39:14!! :banana::banana:

I am so excited! It was pretty fun, even though my legs were killing me at about 1.5 miles. I was in the back of the pack and I had the road to myself for awhile, but I wasn't last and I think my time is awesome! I did walk at many points. My stomach was cramping up after awhile, but it wore off at about mile 2 luckily. The one thing that bothered me was the water at 1.5 miles. I was so thirsty by the time I got there, I really needed something before then. Anyway, I kept my number I wore and I got a little certificate for completing it. Yay! :yay:

Congrats to you!:goodvibes

Here is the QOTD for Saturday, March 31.
Answer one of the following questions about exercising:
What stands in the way of my workouts?
Do I have a legitimate reason for skipping a workout?
How could I reward myself for working out?

Oh boy, this question is something I get onto myself for all the time!! If I don't work out first thing in the morning, I have a hard time doing it later because I am such a sweat-er! I sweat soooo bad and I hate it. I have to shower when I'm done cause I feel so gross. So, once my day is going I hate to go through all that. BAD BAD EXCUSE!! I know! :rolleyes1 haha!! But I'm working on ways to deal with it.

Which school in Cleveland are you looking at? Hope you had a good time!

Question~Do I have a legitimate reason for skipping a workout? Honestly, if I skip a workout, I usually do have a reason. I love going to the gym and love working out, so I make plans for classes so I am held accountable. I do have a hard time finding time to workout on the weekends. So, I will be working on a workout schedule for the weekend if I do not head to the gym and need to workout at home instead. When the weather warms up a little, I will go running.

Thanks!!

Awesome job! I'm glad you enjoyed it...start looking for another one :)

Good afternoon everyone!

It's been a busy week, and today I had a relaxign morning going through old photos for my nieces graduation scrapbook. I had 9 boxes, and still have the past 6 or 7 years on the computer to go through. It was fun though reliving lots of memories. We just took a long walk with the dog, and figured I'd check in here before getting some house work done. We are going to see the Lorax tonigh and out to supper at panera.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekends!!

Enjoy your movie and dinner date :)

Today has been a great day so far! I ran over 4 miles with my DD13, and DD11 (almost 12) ran 5 miles, and my DS14 ran 8 trail miles in an hour and 14 minutes. Now we are getting ready for DD13, and DD11's birthday parties (held together at my house tonight). And we will be watching the Kentucky-Louisville game at 5:00 central time just before guests arrive. I hope everyone has a great day, as well!

Wow! Busy day! Happy birthday to DDs!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello Losers :) I hope everyone is doing well. I am having a pretty good weekend so far. I am hoping that tomorrow is just as good. I have so much laundry to do. I swear everytime I check in on the weekends, I have laundry piled up. We (my school and my kids' school) have school Monday through Wednesday this week, so I am making Thursday a Spring Cleaning Day! I better make a list of everything I want done.
This week proves to be busy and I'm not sure how much Dis time I will have. My mom is having knee replacement surgery on Wednesday. I'm not worried about the surgery at all, but I am worried that she'll continue to make excuses for not exercising and being way too overweight. My sister and I had a talk with her about "no excuses" after surgery and I hope it works.
I am off to catch up on some dvr'd shows including "Who Do You Think You Are?" Rita Wilson was on and I love watching this show. I wish I could head off to Sweden, Poland, and Slovakia to research my family even farther than what we have.
Have a beautiful rest of the weekend!
Jill
Ok, if that's true than that's scary. I did the math, apparently I need to eat 934 calories a day to lose weight. That's way too low! I usually try to eat 1200 a day when i'm actually tracking. Lately I just go way over and way under.
934 doesn't seem like enough calories. Maybe see if you can plan out your day with food and stick to the 1200 for a few days in a row. Then judge your weight.
I had a gain this week :( big said face, especially after my huge loss last week! i've been getting a few too many comments from co workers who never see me that i'm getting "too skinny". I don't know what to do anymore. Do I look good and feel better? Yes. Am i happy with my weight? No. Will 9 lbs make much of a difference? Probably not. Do I still want to lose it and reach my goal. YES!
A co worker asked me if i really wanted to lose or if i just needed to tone, and i said i probably just needed to tone. Either way I've been falling into some bad habits and I'm going to make a few tiny changes this week and see how I do. I need to work slowly and not just jump into it.
1) work out for at least 20 minutes a day. Before I got injured and before I started having stomach problems, I was in a great workout routine and it made me feel really good. Now my biggest excuse is I don't have time. While its true my time is limited, if I have time to watch a tv show I have time to walk for 20 minutes. I'm not going to make myself do anything strenous, just 20 minutes of SOMETHING
This sounds like a great plan!
2) I'm really bad about eating certian things, next week I'm going to try and make sure I practice some healthy eating habits. Eat at least 2 salads during the week (I really hate salad, I think it's cause mine are always so boring). Have one fish meal, have one vegetarian meal. Little things to slowlyl change the bad food habits I've been developing.
3) WRITE DOWN WHAT I EAT. Self explanatory
4) Take 15 minutes a day for ME time. Read a book, surf the internet, whatever. I've been having a really hard time lately not feeling guilty when i do something that isn't related to homework or work. I played with my dogs today and realized i hadn't actually thrown a ball around with them in a LONG time. I need to take just 15 minutes a day and detach from school work.
Thats all for next week and i will slowly add more little habits. I also have a ten page paper to write next week so you know..that will be fun.
Tomorrow is a homework day. I was supposed to get most of it done tonight, but work asked me to come in, and i really needed the money (so badly). I was able to do some homework at work but not as much as i wanted to get done. Just have to tell myself its ok, and to relax
Everyone have a great weekend. I'm actually going to try and stay away from the boards tomorrow because i want to get as much writing done as i can.
Good luck on getting your work done.
I stand in the way of my workouts. If I try to work out later in the day, I really can find any excuse in the world not to.
usually don't have a legitimate reason.
I could reward myself with new running shirts/shorts/gear if I hit a certain number of workouts each month.
Good luck with your 5k! You will be find. It will amaze you have fast it goes on race day. It's just so much fun! Can't wait to hear how it goes! Enjoy every minute of it!
Hi everyone!
Wow, this thread is busy, busy, busy since we merged!:good vibes
Today is my last double workout with Jillian's Body Revolution! I have really enjoyed the process and results so far.
Is Jillian's Body Revolution a DVD? How does it work? I need to add something to my workouts besides running. Do you like this program?
It is beautiful here today. My DD is at a retreat. Lucky girl. The camp they are going to is wonderful! I think my DS, DH and I are going to get the camper and boat ready for the summer. I'm going to tend my garden. I can't believe how much I've been able to plant already. It's not even April!
My DS is starting to throw shot and discus so I think we'll go to the park and watch him throw. It will be so great to be outside!
This is what my middle son does in track. :goodvibes He is on the football team too and this is what all the "guys on the line" do for track. Last year his track coach (who also helps with football) made all of the football players run the 100 meter to keep in shape. They are generally big boys ... and this is why they are on the line. These races were always quiet entertaining. The boys got a kick out of running them too. :lmao:
Enjoy the weekend everyone!:cool1:
QOTD: I used to stand in my own way but I've finally found my way back to consistent exercise! I have been doing the elliptical almost everyday for the past few weeks. I feel great after I do it most days. I push myself to do more each day. The time flew by this morning. I had to stop as I had to get ready for work. I will do more this afternoon when I get home from work again.
That is great!
Did my 30 minutes burning 400 calories. I was watching Muppets Take Manhattan which made it go by so fast! Started my day with my shake and tea and aloe. I'm having more water now. I made myself an eggplant rollup for lunch with a little cheese and pesto. I'm planning on pancakes and sausage for supper. I have to pick up more pancake mix while I'm out. We are going to see some friends tomorrow afternoon so I will have to plan my food accordingly. Ash wants to go see Chicago at the high school tonight . Several of her friends are in it. I was hoping to stay in tonight but she is really looking forward to going.
I just started some laundry and I have to head back to work in a little while for 1 or 2 chair massages. I'll pick up Izzie from her sleepover on my way and then I will take her to get her haircut before we come home. We are supposed to clean out the garage today and then go to the dump and get rid of some stuff. Wishing it would warm up and stay warm so I can put my acs in but that's not looking like it's in the cards just yet. We had a little bit of snow this morning.
I think I'll fix myself some more tea as I'm feeling sleepy!
TTFN :tigger:
Thanks!!
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Yahoo! That is a great! Congrats!
This is a good question for me today as I sit here debating whether or not to go do a work out light. I'm feeling well enough to but I also have to work tonight and I don't want to be dragging later. I'm thinking just an easy 1/2 hour on the elliptical, then a few reps on the arm and abs. I'm sure I'm going to have to go lighter on the weights since I haven't worked out for weeks. My reward will be the shower and the jacuzzi of course.
I LOVE your reward 50sjayne!
Ooooo ... this use to be me. I have gotten better at this, but there are times that I have to shower when I get home and my 1 hour of exercising has now taken 1 and 1/2 hours of my time. :headache:
Which school in Cleveland are you looking at? Hope you had a good time!
Hey Jill, we went to see Case Western. It was nice spending the day with just my oldest son. The day was SO cold! I should have worn my winter coat. My son got a great scholarship to go to Case, however, it is still cheaper to go to Penn State. We are going to PSU on Friday for another look around. He got in to the Honor's college there (I am very proud of him) and this is where he most likely will go. This college stuff is very stressful! :upsidedow
Today was a bit of a rough day. I stayed up too late last night doing nothing in particular and ended up sleeping till past 11! Was not happy with that, woke up and got a lecture about how i am really broke from my mother. Great, always how i want to start my day.
I was supposed to get a lot of homework done today, and I just finished the big assignment I have due on monday. I'm pretty happy with it, its a 2 page outline and then the first 4 pages on our big 10 page paper. It's not my best writing, but its decent and its just a rough draft, and in all honesty i feel pretty good that i have a little over 4 pages done. Especially since a rough draft of all ten pages is due next monday. Of course since it took me so long i'm behind on a few other things, but all in all im glad i got the 4 pages done (we only need to hand in 2 on monday, but he will read up to 4).
The rest of the day was spend fighting with my mother. I don't even know about what. It was just a rough day.
And lastly i come to you folks with a request. One of my big problems is when my mom asks me to make a grocery list. I can never think of anything to put on it. So my question to you folks is do you have any go to items that you always put on your grocery list to help yourself succeed for the week? Are there any general items that help you make meals that you feel every well stocked kitchen should have? Any snack items that you absolutley rely on?
So sorry about your rough day... :hug:
For me, it's usually low-sodium turkey meat, strawberries, Special K cereal and whole wheat bread at least. DM does more of the shopping than I do, but she usually makes sure to get us a couple different fruits.
As for snack items, low fat peanut butter, cheese sticks, and Hershey kisses (but sparingly on the chocolates.) :thumbsup2
What food has FOOLED you when you looked up the calories or points AFTER you ate it.
Can't really remember the last time I was fooled by a food but I do remember my dismay when I found out that my favorite food at Chili's, 'Big Mouth Bites' were over 2,100 calories for 1 meal!! :scared1: Where do the calories come from?! :confused3
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Decided to get in my car today to see how far 13.1 miles is... It's a lot further than I thought it was going to be... Had the first bit of nervousness of if I can actually do the Princess 1/2 as I planned. I mean, I have a year. I know I can do this. But I'm still nervous... *sigh* Shake it off Ashley...shake it off...
Watching 'Too Cute' on Animal Planet before heading to bed. The puppies are soooo CUTE!!! Almost makes me wish I had a dog. Almost... :rolleyes1
Thanks everyone!! I am very proud of myself, I saw a sign today for another 5k next month in town so I have that one bookmarked too!
Pretty much everything that I use to eat. I never realized how many calories were in all of my food, especially food that I could eat and still be hungry. Something that always bothered me was the "healthy" foods at resturants. I've looked at what is seemingly healthy and it's 800-1000 calories! What!? I could eat 5x as much for that many calories!
I don't know if you have a kroger or dillons in your town but I live off of Kroger's frozen vegetables. I use the california style frozen veggies (carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower) almost everyday as well as the 3 pepper and onion blend. At my store if you have a card you get them for $1 a bag. One of my go-to foods is kroger frozen crinkle cut carrots.
Apples and peanut butter have become my new favorite snack. Also, at Walgreens they have their own brand of nuts that come in the plastic skinny bags. I usually take a bag of those (I like the pistachio kernels) to school with me for a snack. One of my vices since I gave up soda is Red Diamond sugar-free tea sweetened with splenda. It'll usually keep my hunger at bay.
Strawberries for sure! I have been putting them in my cereal in the morning. Quaker Oatmeal Instant oats. I know instant isn't as good for you but it's low calories and good. It is extremely filling and I add some strawberries.
Quinoa I must have on hand. Delicious and really easy to make, you can really have it with anything. Yogurt is also another go-to snack. There is one kind that has granola on the top that is wonderul. I know some people really love pop chips. I haven't had them in awhile but I love them. I think if you are craving something that seems more of a "junk" food, I'd go with those. Godiva Dark Chocolates. We are out of these atm and it's killing me. They are about 50 calories for 1 and usually my "daily indulgence".
Blue Diamond Almonds. You can have about 28 nuts for 170 calories, that is a lot of nuts. Cuties clementines. I hate how messy oranges are and I'm more likely to reach for one of these. 100 calorie multi-grain/whole wheat bagels. These are good for peanut butter, sandwiches, many different things.
Wow, that was long. I hope you find some of these suggestions helpful!
I think you missed the part that the information came from the Biggest Loser journal. You may want to sit down and have a chat with your Doctor to see what a healthy weight for you would be. Depending on your height and bone structure - you may already be there. Another recommendation would be to see a nutritionist. It was the best thing I ever did. My diet is a mix of 20% protein/55% carbs and 25% fats. Also consider figuring out your BMR.
I have two valuable pieces of paper I use. One is a weekly meal planning sheet (template found on Microsoft) the other is my shopping list in excel that has every item on it I would buy. The regular stuff is already checked. Every week we buy milk, yogurt, OJ, eggs, canadian bacon, cheese sticks, oatmeal, cereal, chicken, apples, oranges, grapes, bananas, cantalope, strawberries, red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, purple cabbage, baby spinach, cucumbers, celery, carrots, green onion, bermuda onion, tomatos, whole wheat wraps. The chicken is grilled. With the fruit we cut for fruit salad, the vegies are made into gazpacho (the South Beach diet gazpacho - it's very good) and salad. The wraps are for snacks. Throw some salad on the wrap, drizzle a little lite dressing - yummy. I second the idea of apples and peanut butter. If you have a Whole Foods near you - it's worth the extra money to buy the freshly ground peanuts. A pint is about $3.99.
Just take it one mile at a time!!!!
I think I may have turned the corner this week with exercise. I finally found a mix I like!!! I bought Zumba for the Wii - and LOVE IT!!! Now - I'm not good at it, but it is fun!!! In 20 minutes I burned over 300 calories!!! So I am still walking to WDW, but on alternate days I Zumba and use the BL Wii challenge. I am going slow - so not to burn myself out - or hurt myself. I don't want to break a hip during Zumba!!!:rotfl:
Spent today trying to straighten out paperwork for the past year for both my father and mine!!! Remider to self - don't shove stuff in drawers. PUT THEM AWAY!!! My goal this year is to clean out every drawer, closet, tub, hiding spot I have.
I made DS and DH MonkeyBread. A recipe on Cooking Light - little do they know there is whole wheat flour in the mix. A little high in calories for me - I think 225 for 4 pieces - but DH and DS aren't watching their weight and enjoy sweets occasionally. Imagine there are people alive that can eat sweets occasionally, stop themselves after a serving, and feel satisfied!!! DH requested Apple Jam - so I made a pint for him to go with his peanut butter and bagel for breakfast this week.
Tomorrow is my day with my Father (my sister and I take turns on the weekends taking him for the day). I think he wants to do a little shopping - he wants new pants, etc. But if it's a nice day - I hope to get that out of the way early and then take a ride up to Hampton Beach for a walk on the beach. Head to BJ's on the way home, grocery shop for the week, and then come home and cook whatever we end up planning.
Have a great Sunday everyone!!!
Janis
Ok, if that's true than that's scary. I did the math, apparently I need to eat 934 calories a day to lose weight. That's way too low! I usually try to eat 1200 a day when i'm actually tracking. Lately I just go way over and way under.
I think you missed the part that the information came from the Biggest Loser journal. You may want to sit down and have a chat with your Doctor to see what a healthy weight for you would be. Depending on your height and bone structure - you may already be there. Another recommendation would be to see a nutritionist. It was the best thing I ever did. My diet is a mix of 20% protein/55% carbs and 25% fats. Also consider figuring out your BMR.
Today was a bit of a rough day. I stayed up too late last night doing nothing in particular and ended up sleeping till past 11! Was not happy with that, woke up and got a lecture about how i am really broke from my mother. Great, always how i want to start my day.
I was supposed to get a lot of homework done today, and I just finished the big assignment I have due on monday. I'm pretty happy with it, its a 2 page outline and then the first 4 pages on our big 10 page paper. It's not my best writing, but its decent and its just a rough draft, and in all honesty i feel pretty good that i have a little over 4 pages done. Especially since a rough draft of all ten pages is due next monday. Of course since it took me so long i'm behind on a few other things, but all in all im glad i got the 4 pages done (we only need to hand in 2 on monday, but he will read up to 4).
The rest of the day was spend fighting with my mother. I don't even know about what. It was just a rough day.
And lastly i come to you folks with a request. One of my big problems is when my mom asks me to make a grocery list. I can never think of anything to put on it. So my question to you folks is do you have any go to items that you always put on your grocery list to help yourself succeed for the week? Are there any general items that help you make meals that you feel every well stocked kitchen should have? Any snack items that you absolutley rely on?
I have two valuable pieces of paper I use. One is a weekly meal planning sheet (template found on Microsoft) the other is my shopping list in excel that has every item on it I would buy. The regular stuff is already checked. Every week we buy milk, yogurt, OJ, eggs, canadian bacon, cheese sticks, oatmeal, cereal, chicken, apples, oranges, grapes, bananas, cantalope, strawberries, red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, purple cabbage, baby spinach, cucumbers, celery, carrots, green onion, bermuda onion, tomatos, whole wheat wraps. The chicken is grilled. With the fruit we cut for fruit salad, the vegies are made into gazpacho (the South Beach diet gazpacho - it's very good) and salad. The wraps are for snacks. Throw some salad on the wrap, drizzle a little lite dressing - yummy. I second the idea of apples and peanut butter. If you have a Whole Foods near you - it's worth the extra money to buy the freshly ground peanuts. A pint is about $3.99.
QOTD for April 1st
What food has FOOLED you when you looked up the calories or points AFTER you ate it.
Actually it was today - but I looked before I ate. I made some stuffed manicotti and 2 of the manicotti were only 325 calories!!!
So sorry about your rough day... :hug:
For me, it's usually low-sodium turkey meat, strawberries, Special K cereal and whole wheat bread at least. DM does more of the shopping than I do, but she usually makes sure to get us a couple different fruits.
As for snack items, low fat peanut butter, cheese sticks, and Hershey kisses (but sparingly on the chocolates.) :thumbsup2
Can't really remember the last time I was fooled by a food but I do remember my dismay when I found out that my favorite food at Chili's, 'Big Mouth Bites' were over 2,100 calories for 1 meal!! :scared1: Where do the calories come from?! :confused3
Decided to get in my car today to see how far 13.1 miles is... It's a lot further than I thought it was going to be... Had the first bit of nervousness of if I can actually do the Princess 1/2 as I planned. I mean, I have a year. I know I can do this. But I'm still nervous... *sigh* Shake it off Ashley...shake it off...
Watching 'Too Cute' on Animal Planet before heading to bed. The puppies are soooo CUTE!!! Almost makes me wish I had a dog. Almost... :rolleyes1
Just take it one mile at a time!!!!
I think I may have turned the corner this week with exercise. I finally found a mix I like!!! I bought Zumba for the Wii - and LOVE IT!!! Now - I'm not good at it, but it is fun!!! In 20 minutes I burned over 300 calories!!! So I am still walking to WDW, but on alternate days I Zumba and use the BL Wii challenge. I am going slow - so not to burn myself out - or hurt myself. I don't want to break a hip during Zumba!!!:rotfl:
Thank you!!!
I am sure you will hear that CLICK!!! Have a wonderful trip!!
I bought a Biggest Loser Journal and this is what is in the book. Take your current weight and multiply that by 7. That's how many calories a day you need to lose weight. Divide that total by 4. So say you came up with 1800 for your calorie allotment. 1800 divided by 4 = 450. So for each meal you have a 450 calorie budget. Take the 4th 450 divide it by 2 = 225 - that is your budget for snacks. So Breakfast 450, snack 250, lunch 450, snack 250, dinner 450 = 1800.
Janis
I love this bit of info. Thankyou:) Now I just have to figure out my meals -280 cals each. The 140 snacks are no problem its lunch and dinner I will struggle with. I think I have been eating alot more calories than this when I've been counting my points(ww) so that might explain why I'm not getting anywhere:confused3 Going to make a new plan today:)
Here is the QOTD for Saturday, March 31.
Answer one of the following questions about exercising:
What stands in the way of my workouts?
Do I have a legitimate reason for skipping a workout?
How could I reward myself for working out?
I think I am my biggest roadblock to exercising! Sometimes the reasons are legitimate but most times I simply allow the day to get away from me:scared1:Life is starting to settle down to normalilty for me after a very sad and stressful year so I really have no excuse any more. I will have to find something that does not involve a gym though as we have resigned our membership (due to price increase-so expensive:scared1:)but the weather is warming up so walking/running is free and fits the bill:cool1:
It is much more fun and easier in the wonderful land of disney world. You will be nervous off and on til race day, and once you are there, you will have the most amazing time imagineable. You can do it!:thumbsup2
These two lines had me cracking up. Zumba looks like so much fun. I've debated on buying the wii zumba. Sounds like you'd recommend it.
And some people are just crazy. How do they do that. lol.
Have fun at the beach today. I hope it's a little warmer than yesterday.
:cool1:Congrats Christopher. Have an amazing cruise! Or should I say amazing cruises!!
We are so very excited! Still need to get packed, though. We are staying at Bonnet Creek, where we always stay. We have a 3 bedroom presidential booked there. We love it. It's so much roomier than a hotel room. We usually always stay there, but I'm looking forward to checking out a Disney resort again soon. We have stayed at Animal Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, and the Grand Californian, Pop Century, and the Contemporary. I want to stay at the Grand Floridian!! We will be doing the parks in full speed! I can't wait!
Sounds awesome. I just noticed your tickers too. Looking like a fun disney year for you!!:thumbsup2
This week proves to be busy and I'm not sure how much Dis time I will have. My mom is having knee replacement surgery on Wednesday. I'm not worried about the surgery at all, but I am worried that she'll continue to make excuses for not exercising and being way too overweight. My sister and I had a talk with her about "no excuses" after surgery and I hope it works.
Jill
:goodvibes Good luck with your mom. I'm sure surgery will go well, and I hope the recovery and rehab is smooth for her and for all of you. :goodvibes
We always have a bowl of apples and bananas on the table, and eggs are a big staple for me. Either hard boiled or scrambled in the microwave is a quick breakfast.
Good morning!
Just thought i'd check in and say hello and be inspired, before getting out for a walk. I need to shake up my eating again. I'm going to pull out my old ww books and start ww fresh today. I will track and point for the next 7 days. Every bite, and if my brother and sil are coming next saturday for the night, I'll make sure to save enough flex points for an adult beverage or two. I had stopped pointing in january because too often I would go over and feel bad, and I've been doing ok when I track, but not been faithful. So today is a fresh start. Off to find those books. They are crammed in a kitchen drawer. Who's cleaning out drawers today? Come to my house next. ;)
Have a great sunday everyone!!
One step at a time.:goodvibes You have a ton of time to get ready.
I strongly recommend a training plan--whether you use a specific one like Galloway or Higdon, or you can make your own hybrid plan. Breaking it down into smaller goals makes such a difference.
And I agree with Kathy, you will be nervous. But that's where training and a plan takes over.
I would also try to get in a longer local race--10k or up. That will help you to learn stuff like--not to go out to fast, and whether your hydration/nutrition plan really works.
You can do it. Ask lots of questions. There are lots of folks with lots of experience on the Wish boards who are happy to help with positive feedback.
Thanks!!
Well, I'm back!! My goal was to finish with a time of about 45 minutes. The first time I did a 5k in my hometown it took me 50 minutes 2 weeks ago. I finished this one in....39:14!! :banana::banana:
I am so excited! It was pretty fun, even though my legs were killing me at about 1.5 miles. I was in the back of the pack and I had the road to myself for awhile, but I wasn't last and I think my time is awesome! I did walk at many points. My stomach was cramping up after awhile, but it wore off at about mile 2 luckily. The one thing that bothered me was the water at 1.5 miles. I was so thirsty by the time I got there, I really needed something before then. Anyway, I kept my number I wore and I got a little certificate for completing it. Yay! :yay:
Wooooo HOOOOOOOO!!!!! I knew it would go good for you! Sounds like even better than you expected. Watch out, you may become hooked!:cool1:
Mary•Poppins
Jillian's Body Revolution is actually at 90 day program. It has a set of 15 DVD's, a seven day jump start eating plan and 90 eating plan.
There is a workout schedule (which dvd to use when) and all of the meal guidelines.
Yes, I am really enjoying it! Today is my first rest day. I found the workouts to be fairly easy right now, but I do feel like I am getting a good workout in without killing myself. They will get more challenging as the program continues. I like the "building" up aspect of it. Sometimes I jump in too hard and fast and end up injuring myself...
As for the food, I really needed to get myself back into healthy habits. I ate out a lot during spring break and felt like crud when I got home. The 7 day jump start was just what I needed! I lost all of the weight (mostly water) that I came home with and then some. To say that I am pleased with the results would be an understatement.
I also jumped in and had all of the meals she recommended. I found some great new foods that are healthy that I normally wouldn't have tried! I do feel that I have "reset" my system.
The only thing that I found was that it was a bit too calorie restrictive for me. I had an active week and found myself a little light headed the first few days. I added a mid morning snack (from her list) and upped my protein. That did the trick and I felt so much better while still losing weight.
I am totally pumped for next week though. I get to add carbs back in !!!!
So my question to you folks is do you have any go to items that you always put on your grocery list to help yourself succeed for the week? Are there any general items that help you make meals that you feel every well stocked kitchen should have? Any snack items that you absolutley rely on?
Greek yogurt is the best for me. It's a quick and easy "go to" when I don't have a lot of time. Also, any kind of fruit and veggies that you love. I just discovered that I LOVE red pepper. (Who knew? I HATE green peppers!) Anyway, dip those in a little garlic and chive hummus and yummmmyyyyy! Maybe if you get a free moment, you could head to the store with your mom. Walk through the produce section. You might find that you find some new foods. Also, popcorn is my go to snack when I feel like I need doritos or chips or something.
How much condiments to a Subway sandwich!
Good Sunday morning everyone.
I have been to church and need to go grocery shopping. I am going to see a middle school play this afternoon so I better get moving.
The start of the week is getting really crazy. I have classes tomorrow then I have to work at McDonald's. Yes you heard me right. This is the third time that the MCD in my school's town has had a McTeacher night where the teachers take over the registers for charity. All the money goes to the National Honor Society. I have run the drive through the last couple of times. Then I have to come home to pick up dh to go to a Boy Scout meeting that they asked me to attend.
Tuesday we have a charity basketball game. Faculty vs Faculty. I am not planning but I am leading the cheers especially for the math department.
I can't wait until Thursday because that is the last day before spring break. I can't wait.
