Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

QOTD for Monday, 3/26: I am up for a challenge. What recipe would you like to see made into a healthier version? My goal is to PM you a recipe by Thursday.

Anything Mexican!! :goodvibes

I second that!!! Preferably chicken nachos, those are my favorite things to eat when I go to Salsarita's/Qdoba's.

I found an AMAZING website and app to use for anyone using WW or counting calories. It's called Dottie's Weight Loss Zone (www.dwlz.com) and it has every food/restaurant/dish/grocery item you could possibly imagine! In both the new and old point values (if anyone is using the old WW point system) The app is on sale for $2.99, but the website is free ;) I did use some of my rewards points last night on a glass of wine with dinner...totally worth it!

Morning all! Back to "normal" March weather for us today, which means 40 degree temps and sprinkling rain. :sad2: Oh well.... it was nice to have June weather in March while it lasted!

Sorry I haven't been around as much as usual.... just getting busy I guess. I'm home today, but anxious to get laundry moving and beds made and onto my workout, so I won't take time to chatter right now.

I'll pop over this afternoon to chat, I promise! TTYL...................P

Hunger Games was awesome! I'm hoping to go see it again in the next few weeks!

I can't wait to see the movie! My nephew's 8th grade class is going one day this week, but he insisted he needed to see it on Friday. He texted me that it was the Best. Movie. Ever. lol.

JILL POWER!!!!!!:cool1:

I will let you know how I fair with the other Jill (Jillian). The box was waiting for me when I got home from spring breakin it. I am bumming around with the DH and kiddos this weekend (hitting the yard and garden too). So, I figure I'll get a fresh start on Monday. Why do Mondays always seem to be the "start" day?

Not to sound mean, but I hope Jillian kicks your but today! Good luck!

I hope this works. I could not get to the reply screen last night.

QOTD for Sunday, 3/25: What does your schedule look like for the rest of the week? What pre-planning do you need to do to stay on plan?

The one thing I have to do is bring water with me wherever I go. I am at a friend's house now. She threw her boyfriend a birthday party last night and I spent the night. The only water available was tap water and she did not recommend that I drink it. I feel so dehydrated now.

My schedule is crazy busy this week. I preplanned all my dinners for the week. I also bought zucchini muffins at our church's cake & pie auction, so I will be having a muffin and a hard boiled egg for breakfast. I bought a huge bag of romaine at Sam's Club so my lunches will probably be salads with grilled chicken. And, I am going to the gym today, Wed, and Thurs for classes. I just need to drink all that water!

Well, the scale is moving in the right direction here for me, finally. I feel like I have been on hold as far as weight loss goes during this challenge as much as I have been in weight loss mode. Plateaus are just common with me, I guess. I will have a good week, then plateau for a few weeks, then two good weeks, and a plateau week, etc. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I know it results from me being OP, and then not OP. It does mix things up for my body, and that is an advantage, but when I don't eat OP and its not an exercise day, plain and simple I am not going to lose weight!

I am down over 15 lbs since the beginning of this challenge, and the 170's are so close I can taste it! I hope this week brings me into that new number!

I have been running for almost two years, and logging all my runs/walks/bikes/hikes in RunKeeper for about a year and a half or maybe a little longer. It really is motivating for me to be able to look back at all my old runs and see how far I've come. I'm still slow, but I know I'm getting faster from looking at all this data. I never would have guessed that I've done that much just thinking back, but looking at all the saved workouts in RunKeeper is great!

I hope everyone has a fabulous OP day! :)

Melinda

Good luck getting into the 170s! That's such a huge deal.

I have been running and walking (sometimes when I have my dog~she is not a good running buddy) and using RunKeeper. I love it! Maybe I should look back to last year and see what I was doing then.

I also signed up yesterday morning for Weight Watchers :scared1: I was so resistant to it for so long, but I couldn't do it anymore. I went with my mom to her weigh-in and she finally hit 100lbs lost!!!! I was so proud of her!!! And so inspired that I joined myself. I went through my cabinets and fridge last night and today and labeled everything with the points values...it looks like A Beautiful Mind came rolling through my house! I think it'll turn into a challenge, too- my mom and I have roughly the same amount of weight to lose to get to our goals...I told her it was on til the break of dawn! So far today I've been good and on-track with my points :) Can't wait to see some results!

So many people do Weight Watcher and love it. I have never tried it, but have relatives who have & swear by it. My sister is thinking of signing up. I hope you like it and good luck (oh, and not to sound mean, but I hope you lose it before your mom does :)).

Hi Everyone!

I have been having trouble getting the Dis to open on my computer. I was able to log in for a few minutes earlier, but that was in between dinner and church. Church was a disaster. It has nothing to do with the religious part of it. My friend was a jerk to me. I don't understand why she thinks she has the right to insult me and what's more, I don't understand why I continue to call her my friend. :scared1:

I'm going to post the QOTD for tomorrow now and then try to reply to all of you. Please do not be offended if I do not. It just means I am having computer difficulties. (Can you tell I'm feeling really insecure right now? :rolleyes1)

QOTD for Monday, 3/26: I am up for a challenge. What recipe would you like to see made into a healthier version? My goal is to PM you a recipe by Thursday.

Our "Fish Friday" mean this past week was GF eggplant parmesean. My dad cooked it. He cut the eggplant into thin slices and coated them in GF baking mix. For mine, he then coated them in egg substitute and then GF bread crumbs. We then fried them in canola oil and drained them. He layered the breaded eggplant with canned sauce and cheese and baked it. We served it with a side of corn pasta. There has to be a healthier way to make the meal. :goodvibes

I've been having trouble with the dis at home, too. I wonder if it slows down later in the day as more poeople are on?

QOTD~Hmmm...immediately I thought of Fettucini Alfredo. I rarely get to eat it because it's about a billion calories. Then, my next thought was any dessert involving chocolate. Yummy! Thanks so much for taking on this challenge. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

It sounds like your dad did a great job with the eggplant. I have no suggestions on how to make it healthier (instead of frying it). Maybe you can bake it? Although, it may get too soggy? Sorry I am no help. But Pamela probably would be! She can always make food healthier!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So it was in the 80s here all last week, and today I wake up to 36?!?! Why?!?! We have a freeze warning in effect tonight (down into the 20s). Luckily I don't have any plants that will get ruined, but a lot of people do since things bloomed so early. I'm hoping for another warm up soon. We were so spoiled with that wonderful weather!
I don't know if it's the weather, but I have a headache today. I'm hoping I feel better as the day goes on. Today is our last day of this nine weeks, so I did all my grades over the weekend. I'll be turing them in today. This means that I only have 45 more days until summer!!!!!
I hope everyone has an OP day! I know I plan to!
Jill
Good morning.
I'm so tired this morning I didn't want to get up. This weekend was the third weekend in a row that I've worked.
QOTD for Sunday, 3/25: What does your schedule look like for the rest of the week? What pre-planning do you need to do to stay on plan?
I need to pack a good lunch with snacks to work so I don't end up famished at the end of the day and binge.
I somehow missed grabbing the quote for today's QOTD but chocolate desert. And if you come up with any great recipes for anything I think you should post them here not just pm them to the requester :rolleyes1 Your a fabulous coach for even attempting this!
I hope to be done the project I'm working on by Thursday/Friday and I'm so looking forward to finally getting a weekend off and sleeping in!
Hope everyone has a healthy day!:cool1:
Hi everyone, and happy Monday! (We can be optimistic about that, right?)
Houseguests have flown back to CA, and I'm feeling pretty good about handling the crazy opportunities for overindulging this weekend. I overdid it yesterday, but when I tracked online for WW, I realized that I was still in pretty good shape, using some of my weekly points. Overindulging now is so very different than overindulging when I was eating too much to begin with! :rotfl:
I got up this morning and started in on exercise - my last week 3 C25K workout! Wednesday morning, assuming the weather holds, it'll start getting interesting with week 4. It was beautiful out this morning but very windy - can I count that for strength? :lmao:
Next up for exercise today will be starting 30-Day Shred (I've done Ripped in 30 and loved it, so I'm hoping this will be similar). I'll do that midday, then shower and get some lunch. And tonight is blacklight Zumba. I always feel like Mondays are my kick-it-back-into-gear days for exercise, and today should be a doozy!
Melinda, I haven't signed up for a 5K yet. I want to see what happens when I transition into longer runs this coming week, but I think I'm going to have to do that soon to put this practice into a real run! I think I still have a mental block on the idea of me running at all, let alone with people. Every workout I finish on the C25K app, though, gets me a bit closer.
I noticed that there are some new (and returning) WWers here! I've done WW for years - made lifetime 11 years ago and then had my girls. ;) I just reattained goal a few weeks ago and am back in maintenance. WW has worked so well for me; I think part of the reason is that I thrive on keeping count of things to stay on a plan, so PointsPlus has been just great. I'm the liaison for our meeting at work, so I'm pretty involved in the whole thing - holler if you have questions, either here or by PM, and I'm happy to try and help out!
Speaking of WW, I have a new iPad (GORGEOUS gadget that I've completely fallen in love with) and downloaded the WW Kitchen Companion. This morning, I looked up bananas so I could do something with the three nasty overripe bananas in my fruit bowl (I like 'em on the slightly green side). I found lots of recipes and went with a banana and oatmeal bread recipe. It's baking now in the toaster oven, and I can't wait to see how it turns out! The app is awesome as you go through the recipe - you check off the ingredients, and you can highlight the step you're on. There are options to save your favorite recipes, too, and I'm looking forward to exploring this app more! I'm not sure there are many reasons to keep my space-hogging cookbook collection anymore...
Good morning my fellow BL's! I am back after the weekend away. Ok, I didn't go anywhere, I just didn't have time to get online. Why? It was my birthday! I am officially OLD!!! Well, older anyways.
I did my 5K, Run for the Rescues (for the SPCA) on Saturday morning, my actual birthday, what a way to start it all off. I didn't do well, the course was ruff! Um, dog reference? It was all hills, and I am not exegerating!
Anyways....catching up!
Wish from Genie? Can he make me into one of those people that love the gym?! I am frustrated - go to the gym! I am sad - go to the gym! I am happy - go to the gym!!
Makeover a recipe? I love me some italian food - and those everlovin'carb loadin' garlic rolls...so how about some spaghetti and garlic rolls?!
What does my week look like? Well, I am solo this week as the parents went on vacation. I am hoping to get in some workouts at home. But Tuesday night I am going to go see DAUGHTRY!!! :rockband: With running home to take care of the dogs and cats, and then up to the venue, I am hoping to at least eat something not so bad for me!
Good luck this week everyone! :woohoo:
I worked very hard today to get all of my meals planned for the week. :cool1: It is a very busy week (as always!). I am all set for my lunches I will take to work and the menu for the week. My hard part will be on Wednesday when it is my middle son's 17th birthday party. I always plan a dinner of the birthday boy's choice and cake and ice cream with all grandparents. I will have to watch this day so that I can have some cake and ice cream without feeling guilty about it.
You have a great plan in place! :goodvibes
You have a great dad CC. That sounds pretty health friendly. Perhaps instead of frying the eggplant, he could have just put them in to bake? I have never made eggplant parmeasean so this one eludes me.
Thanks! :) I have baked chicken parm. I imagine baking egg parm is possible. At any rate, it is worth a try. :cool1:
QOTD: Hmmmmm ... I would love to have spaghetti that was more low-cal. My family likes this for dinner and it is a quick one to make ... however, I avoid it since it has so many carbs in it.
I have 2 ideas for you. Spaghetti squash and that substitute Hungry Girl recommends. I will PM you a link.
Was my first day back to work-- was ok, pretty uneventful. Was very tired at the end of it and I only worked 4 hours lol. I was supposed to work more but I went ahead and called someone in early. Better but still not right--y'know. :sick:
Hope you are feeling 100% soon! :goodvibes
Hi all!! I have not stopped in since the merge... been so busy at work and at home. My office is doing a huge building move this week (after 20+ yrs in our current building) and it is crazy how much we all have to do! Good thing is that I get to work from home (well except for going into the field to see clients as needed) for 4 days :) Hoping to (finally) get caught up on some good DIS time! :lmao: Anyway, despite being off the DIS, I have been very OP :thumbsup2 Well, except for the day we went to the Renaissance Festival. I shared a giant turkey leg with DS, enjoyed some mead, and had a sweet bread! But so worth it, had a blast! In other news, I am very frustrated with my scale! I know it isn't anything unusual to get stuck at a plateau, but I thought I would have at least lost some weight first :rotfl: Seriously, I have over 100lbs to lose, so why is it so hard? I lost about 20 lbs in the first month, went off program for a couple weeks and gained 4 back, then lost that about 3 weeks ago and the scale has been stuck ever since! I am getting the calories that myfitnesspal recommends (a few hundred under each day actually, but well into the "getting enough food" range), drink lots and lots of water, do cardio for anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes 5-6 days per week, and do weights 2-3 times per week. What is up? :confused: So frustrated! Anyway, just a little vent. Well, gotta get some weights in tonight. See you all a bit later this week!
I’m with Janis. I think you need to eat more. Are you eating less than your minimum recommended calories? I thought you had to eat at least that much. MFP tells me that my minimum calories are 1200 and when I only have 1199, I am told I am not eating enough. :goodvibes
Somehow find that point that exercise is enjoyable.
For the longest time, I only exercised because it helped me lose weight. Now that I’ve noticed it helps me emotionally, I’m more inclined to exercise. :goodvibes
You got it! I’ve seen at least one recently and will probably find a few more. :)
Hi Dona! What a great weekend you had! :)
:goodvibes for your observation!
Hi Kathy! Love your plan! :cool1:
Hmm. I think macaroni and cheese is a good one! It's a comfort food and I'm always interested in different ways to make it!
My mom has always used less butter and less of the powdered cheese sauce that comes in the box, but I think I know of a homemade recipe I can PM you. :goodvibes
I tried replying yesterday but DIS was so slow for me I gave up:lmao:
1. I have made out my menu plans for the week-making sure to incorporate the chinese meal I'm having on saturday with 2 girlfriends (we trained as nurses together in 1984:scared1:, lived in the nurses home which was compulsory, and have been friends ever since:)) This is our "Christmas" dinner which has sometimes happened as late as July:rotfl2:
2. Aiming to arrive 20 minutes early to pick my youngest up from school so that I get a short walk in first (asthma still playing up a bit so this is the best I can do at the minute)
3. Read over all my ww stuff from last time and have commited to pointing and measuring foods accurately again.
4. Using myfitnesspal to track (thanks for this Pamela)
5. When in doubt -drink:rotfl2:(water of course):rotfl:
Great plan! :thumbsup2
I would love to know how to make pasta carbonaralower in fat or the pasta dish in Tutti Italia with peas and bacon and cream in it(cant remember the name but its soooo good and soooo bad:rotfl:)
I will do the best I can! Both sound delicious! :)
I second that!!! Preferably chicken nachos, those are my favorite things to eat when I go to Salsarita's/Qdoba's.
I love Mexican too! :) It doesn’t help that so much of it is GF. :rolleyes1
Hi Pamela! It is much cooler here in CT too. This weather is just a bit :confused:.
My schedule is crazy busy this week. I preplanned all my dinners for the week. I also bought zucchini muffins at our church's cake & pie auction, so I will be having a muffin and a hard boiled egg for breakfast. I bought a huge bag of romaine at Sam's Club so my lunches will probably be salads with grilled chicken. And, I am going to the gym today, Wed, and Thurs for classes. I know Bertucci’s bakes it. It is also not breaded. It’s called Eggplant Parma and it’s on their GF menu. I love it. I wonder if the key is to not bread it? :confused3
I don't know if it's the weather, but I have a headache today. I'm hoping I feel better as the day goes on. Today is our last day of this nine weeks, so I did all my grades over the weekend. I'll be turing them in today. This means that I only have 45 more days until summer!!!!!
Hope the headache goes away! :goodvibes
I need to pack a good lunch with snacks to work so I don't end up famished at the end of the day and binge.
When I went GF, I suddenly found that foods that should be GF, like fruits, were very filling. I ate a cup of grapes and thought I ate 2000 calories. It was unexpected, but good. So, what I’m saying, is I suggest fruit. :cool1:
I somehow missed grabbing the quote for today's QOTD but chocolate desert. And if you come up with any great recipes for anything I think you should post them here not just pm them to the requester :rolleyes1 Your a fabulous coach for even attempting this!
Thanks for the compliment! :) I will try to post as much as I can on the thread, although I believe there are rules about posting links. I will find out because I think posting them on the thread is a great idea! :thumbsup2
Overindulging now is so very different than overindulging when I was eating too much to begin with! :rotfl:
It’s amazing how our perception on things changes! You are definitely healthier because of this! :worship:
Makeover a recipe? I love me some italian food - and those everlovin'carb loadin' garlic rolls...so how about some spaghetti and garlic rolls?!
Be on the lookout for a PM. I know I have something for these two. :cool1:
Hello all,
Day started off good! I actually got up at 6 to work out. I forgot last night that I didn't have to get up at 5 since Ash had an appointment this morning. I did the 2 mile WATP and then hopped on the elliptical. With about 3 minutes left, my left knee started KILLING me! I had to stop with about 1 minute left. I will get in my AB workout later and my arm workout but not sure about doing the elliptical again. It's still aching but not as bad!
Been cleaning the storage room since I got home from Ash's appt. The only thing I didn't do it was vacuum. I will do that right before my parents come. I'm going to fold some laundry now.
Thinking of ideas for my FE for the cruise.
Time to get some more stuff done!
Is this the "fish extender?" Did you explain what this is yet and I missed it? If not, what is this? Thanks!
Well, I heading home from work. I probably won't be on later since DH has to do some research for school. So, have a good day!
Jill,
Yes, it's the fish extender. Here's the thread here on the boards that can describe it best for you.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2860557
Got several ideas. Going to do some other planning tonight.
Ash has to stay for play practice so I have a few more minutes to myself. I need to run to CVS to pick up some shaving cream, kleenex and a prescription so I will head out now and then pick up Izzie. I still plan on doing my ab workout later.
TTFN :tigger:
Yikes! I woke up at 11 AM! :scared1: So much for my morning run. Guess it will be an afternoon run. DS1 got back from his trip at 2:30 AM. He called at 2 with an ETA. Threw on clothes and hopped in the car to meet the bus. Then when we got home I couldn't get back to sleep! gah I had problems falling asleep when I first went to bed. Then I had to take DH to work at 7. That time I did fall right asleep.
The day without children was lovely. DH and I did go to the beach, alas, no whales. We had lunch and a nice walk on the beach. Unfortunately we went to Harry and David's and I stupidly bought some macadamia shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate. OMG!!!!! I also got chocolate covered raspberries. I did not buy moose munch which was on sale! About the only redeeming thing I did!!:lmao:
So I've had a bowl of cereal and once that settles I will probably go run. Depends on when DS2 gets up and what he needs. He was bummed that he never got a workout in while on his trip. "We always got back to the hotel too late and the area was closed! I wasn't sure if they really put tape on our doors and I didn't want to get in trouble getting up at 5 AM to workout." They had a good trip. I'm sure I'll get the details when he's up.
QOTD: My first thought was chocolate chip cookies! But reading everybody's answers got me thinking I should come up with something dinner-y. Unfortunately, I can't!
Have a super week!
Fly by post here. :car:
Crazy busy day. :crazy: Nothing like going out of the office for a few days to make people feel like they really need you. :teeth:
I'm just going to try to hold the line here and get right back on the wagon when I am back.
It's snowing like crazy here so I'm glad to see that the forecast is for sunny and 84 in Arizona! :sunny:
See you all in few days! :wave2:
I have 2 ideas for you. Spaghetti squash and that substitute Hungry Girl recommends. I will PM you a link.
Thanks CC. :thumbsup2 I would love the link. Never thought of using Spaghetti squash. Funny how things just elude you ...
Heading home from work. One week left until spring break! Whoo Hoo! :goodvibes
The bad part is that it is already full with things to do. I have a senior this year and the main part of break is going to be full with figuring out his graduation party. Anyone who has some helpful hints out there, please feel free to share. :) We have a huge family and will be having it at our church's hall.
Hoping to get back on later tonight. Tata for now!
Hello all!!! Time has been limited on the boards today, paid bills and all that fun stuff that goes along with shuffling money.
Anyway, wanted to give you an update on my BFF who has just started her weight loss journey. Down 7 pounds the first week!! I was shocked and thrilled for her. This all from diet alone, she has fibromyalgia so it's hard for her to get the exercise in daily. We are headed to WDW in December though, so I told her she needs to start a walking regiment this summer.
Me, well she guilted me into not eating the oreos for lunch so I had a turkey sandwich and some baby carrots. LOL I even busted out the scale to weight the turkey. 4 slices is 2oz of hillshire farms roasted turkey. Lunches total for the day was 189 calories, not bad but I had to much for breakfast. I need to have a minimal dinner. Steak, rice and broccoli is on board. The rice will be my down fall but I need to keep dinner under 571 calories. I should be able to do that no problem.
Trying to find a workout to do today. I'm bored of the treadmill so my choices are WATP, 30 day Shred (never done before), and kettle bells. Any opinions?!?
Oh and I just discovered I have the BL sculpt (??something) workout too.
Galloway has a great program for beginners that can be found here on his website. This is the link to his prior to 5K training training. http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/beginners.html
This is his advice for new runners in case anyone else is interested. :goodvibes
Fitness Mistakes (for a new runner) - which cause burnout:
1. tried to run continuously for more than a half mile (should have run 1-2 minutes and walked 2 minutes 2. Started out each run too hard - for him/her (should have started by shuffling slowly - with walks) 3. Told himself before each run that he was going to feel bad (should have forecast a fun, easy run) 4. Tried to exercise when blood sugar and motivation was low (should have eaten something first)
He does have a program for 5K training that is like the C25K program. I actually like his program better because you start out and stick with the intervals. Unlike the C25K that will have you running 3 miles. I know I can never do that. I wish I would have known that when I was starting. :hippie:
Tracey: :woohoo: for all that exercise!
The day without children was lovely. DH and I did go to the beach, alas, no whales. We had lunch and a nice walk on the beach.
Sounds wonderful! :cool1:
Enjoy your trip Lisa! :goodvibes
No great ideas, but I did want to mention that allergies are (unfortunately) rampant. I brought shrimp to a party because it is low in points (old method as this was years ago) and I found out a good friend of mine is allergic to them. Interestingly enough, for his wife's baby shower, they had shrimp bruschetta. His cousins made and they didn't know about his allergies! My soap box message is that you may not know and it could be a problem. Maybe stick with simpler food like teryikae (sp) chicken or beef, but no peanut sauce. If you make your own cake, it can be free of everything but wheat. Cupcakes are really in right now. You could decorate them with graduation cap shaped picks. Tortilla chips and salsa are always popular. Maybe a cheese and cracker tray. The veggie platter was a bit hit at the party I was at on Saturday. The same was true with the fruit platter.
Now, if you are thinking a meal, there are lots of popular items. Stuffed shells or lasagna, or baked ziti. Meatballs are easy to make, but check the bread crumb ingredients for nuts. (Store brands tend to have lots of concerns about cross-contamination.) Roasted veggies are good and easy to make. You could do a sandwich bar using finger rolls. My mom always says kids like thing that don't require plates. I personally like to stick to things that are popular. I went to something where it was laua style, but not very authentic, and the complaints were nonstop when I was on the committee that planned the event the following year.
Long story short, I'm easy to please and I would suggest simple, common, party fare. Events that I have attended where this happens have received the most compliments. :goodvibes
Buffy: Congrats to your BFF! :woohoo: I think it's great that you have a friend to support and to provide suppot! :thumbsup2
He does have a program for 5K training that is like the C25K program. I actually like his program better because you start out and stick with the intervals. Unlike the C25K that will have you running 3 miles. I know I can never do that. I wish I would have known that when I was starting. :hippie:
I think I will check his program out, and try to get back into running more regularly. I felt the same way about c25k, and not until I could hardly walk after doing 2.5 miles straight did I realize I needed the walk breaks.:rotfl2:
Have a wonderful trip!!:goodvibes
Morning all! Back to "normal" March weather for us today, which means 40 degree temps and sprinkling rain. :sad2: Oh well.... it was nice to have June weather in March while it lasted!
P
I'm freezing!!! I want summer back!!! I guess I'll get used to this seasonable weather thing again, but boy have I been spoiled this year. Hope all is well in your busy life.:goodvibes
I got up this morning and started in on exercise - my last week 3 C25K workout! Wednesday morning, assuming the weather holds, it'll start getting interesting with week 4. It was beautiful out this morning but very windy - can I count that for strength? :lmao:
I just reattained goal a few weeks ago and am back in maintenance. WW has worked so well for me; I think part of the reason is that I thrive on keeping count of things to stay on a plan, so PointsPlus has been just great. I'm the liaison for our meeting at work, so I'm pretty involved in the whole thing - holler if you have questions, either here or by PM, and I'm happy to try and help out!
Liz
Nice work with the c25k program, and a huge congratulations on reachin goal!!!:cool1: That is fabulous!!!
Good morning my fellow BL's! I am back after the weekend away. Ok, I didn't go anywhere, I just didn't have time to get online. Why? It was my birthday! I am officially OLD!!! Well, older anyways.
I did my 5K, Run for the Rescues (for the SPCA) on Saturday morning, my actual birthday, what a way to start it all off. I didn't do well, the course was ruff! Um, dog reference? It was all hills, and I am not exegerating!
Anyways....catching up!
I am hoping to get in some workouts at home. But Tuesday night I am going to go see DAUGHTRY!!! :rockband: With running home to take care of the dogs and cats, and then up to the venue, I am hoping to at least eat something not so bad for me!
:woohoo:
Happy Belated Birthday!! I guess I'm showing my age when I first thought, Roger Daultry from the WHO???? How exciting, but wikipedia helped me out. Have a great time tomorrow!!
Is this the "fish extender?" Did you explain what this is yet and I missed it? If not, what is this? Thanks!
Jill
The fish extender sounds like a lot of fun.
QOTD: My first thought was chocolate chip cookies! But reading everybody's answers got me thinking I should come up with something dinner-y. Unfortunately, I can't!
Have a super week!
Chocolate chip cookies was my first thought too, followed closely by a margarita to go with someone's mexican.:rotfl2: I think cookies might lose something without the butter, and they are a treat where moderation comes in handy.
Hi Everyone!
I have been having trouble getting the Dis to open on my computer. I was able to log in for a few minutes earlier, but that was in between dinner and church. Church was a disaster. It has nothing to do with the religious part of it. My friend was a jerk to me. I don't understand why she thinks she has the right to insult me and what's more, I don't understand why I continue to call her my friend. :scared1:
I'm going to post the QOTD for tomorrow now and then try to reply to all of you. Please do not be offended if I do not. It just means I am having computer difficulties. (Can you tell I'm feeling really insecure right now? :rolleyes1)
QOTD for Monday, 3/26: I am up for a challenge. What recipe would you like to see made into a healthier version? My goal is to PM you a recipe by Thursday.
Our "Fish Friday" mean this past week was GF eggplant parmesean. My dad cooked it. He cut the eggplant into thin slices and coated them in GF baking mix. For mine, he then coated them in egg substitute and then GF bread crumbs. We then fried them in canola oil and drained them. He layered the breaded eggplant with canned sauce and cheese and baked it. We served it with a side of corn pasta. There has to be a healthier way to make the meal. :goodvibes
Sorry about your friend. :hug:
You are doing such a nice job as coach this week, CC. So full of helpful suggestions. I had the roasted tuscan vegies at Bertuccis' recently and they had eggplant in it also, not breaded, they were all roasted with olive oil, and it was very good.
I’d like to suggest the three-bite rule. You eat 3 bites of a dessert and then you are done. As I understand it, further amounts of the dessert are unnecessary for sweet tooth satisfaction. :goodvibes
Ah, it's 3 bites not 3 servings. No wonder I haven't lost all this weight yet.:rotfl2: Joking aside, that is a really good rule to follow. I'll try to remember this on Easter. I long time ago at a ww meeting the other dessert trick they taught us was when it was time for your favorite party food, whatever it was, don't stand with a plate and talk while you are eating, but find a spot to sit down, and slowly eat it, and enjoy every bite. If you do that, you have a better memory of eating it, rather than scoffing it down while your chatting with someone.
I1. I have made out my menu plans for the week-making sure to incorporate the chinese meal I'm having on saturday with 2 girlfriends (we trained as nurses together in 1984:scared1:, lived in the nurses home which was compulsory, and have been friends ever since:)) This is our "Christmas" dinner which has sometimes happened as late as July:rotfl2:
2. Aiming to arrive 20 minutes early to pick my youngest up from school so that I get a short walk in first (asthma still playing up a bit so this is the best I can do at the minute)
3. Read over all my ww stuff from last time and have commited to pointing and measuring foods accurately again.
4. Using myfitnesspal to track (thanks for this Pamela)
5. When in doubt -drink:rotfl2:(water of course):rotfl:
Don't worry, I was in nursing school in 1984 too. Can't believe I graduated high school 30 years ago!:scared1: I love your plan, especially #5!;)
Good evening everyone!!
Well, I did have a dinner plan, but not a day time plan, and ended up snacking too much and not eating a real breakfast or lunch, but dinner was healthy and full of vegies, and tomorrow is a new day. I did get a compliment from my brother yesterday, that I was looking skinny. I'm far from skinny, but I did say thank you and accepted the compliment. I'm down 8 pounds this year, and I can feel it in my jeans and scrubs. I need to remember that every day, and remember how good it feels and only eat when i am hungry. Remember the genie and he will grant my wish, right.
Have a nice evening!!!
Biggest Loser Fall Challenge Week 12!
This week’s group loss = 26.6 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.29 %
Total group weight loss so far 908.9 pounds!
AWESOME!
Retention Rate (compared to the 144 participants we had sign up for our start week on January 1st)
35% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!
Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)
Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 12?
