Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

Taking the plunge! I sent my PM this morning, after finding the thread today (I've been off doing all that holiday stuff and not on the boards much).

I'm 39, mom to two sweet girls, and still carrying around some of the baby weight from the nearly-5-year-old. I lost 33 pounds on WW and made lifetime status back in 2000 (pre-kids) and am now working toward a revised goal. At this point, I have about 15 pounds to go. These last seem to be the hardest, and I'm hoping a group like this will give me the extra motivation I need to finally get there.

XO

Okay friends..... I see that I totally dropped the ball and didn't PM anyone, so I'm not assigned to a team!! How did this happen? How did everything start without me??

Okie-dokie.... off to PM and then catch up on the holiday thread (better late than never) and hopefully by the end of the day I'll be officially on a team!

Just PM'ed! This should be good. Over the course of the past two years I've lost 22lbs. on my own. However I have a little to go to my ideal weight, so it will be nice to have company.

I'm in! I'll send a PM tomorrow morning with beginning weight.

I participated in the fall challenge, managing to lose only about 8 pounds, but it was during a time of year when I normally would have gained, so I consider it a win. I'm sure some of it creeped back on over the last two weeks with the stress and overeating of the holidays, but am excited to take on a longer challenge.

Thanks again all you who organize this!

My DH Chris aka kitchensinkguy would like to join team Donald. He will not post for himself so if he's on team donald I can PM both of our weights.

Thanks
Deb

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I run slow all the time. I think my fastest mile was just over 12 minutes. 18 minutes is faster than sitting on the couch;) Great for you for running in the Tinker Bell Half. The Princess Half was fun, and if you ever have a chance to run it I highly recommend it. I am thinking about doing it again next year.

2 of the 6 women I ran the Princess Half with last year are running a full marathon this year:scared1: Uh...as soon as I finished the half last year I knew I would never run a marathon. Even though I felt great, there is no way I wanted to do another 13.1.

Right now, I am with you: I think I will be in better running shape at the end of this challenge. I have a 13.1 magnet on the back of my car, and every time I see it I think: "other people must see me getting out of this car and think 'her husband must be the runner cause no lady that out of shape and overweight is bragging about running 13.1.'" :lmao:

Nice to "meet" you!

Nice to "meet" you too! I will certainly try to do the Princess Half. 2013, I hope! I'm with you on the full marathon--not on my horizon. I feel great after a half, but have never felt like I wanted (or could) do 13 more! I'm sure people are inspired by your 13.1 magnet! Sport it with pride!:):cool1::thumbsup2

I'd like to join if it's not too late. I sent a PM but not sure it went anywhere. It's the first time that I've sent a message so I'm not sure that I did it right :rolleyes1

I've got quite a bit of weight to lose so I'm hoping the support will help me get started.

Jodi

I wondered where you were!! I was getting worried and was ready to gather up a search party. :3dglasses

Hi All,
Just saw the link on the community board and thought I'd get myself over here to join up, I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

I'm so pleased to have found this challenge as just yesterday I had asked a friend to be my 'health buddy' and she said no:sad1:

I was feeling a little sad so this group is just what I needed :yay:

Cheers

Healthy Habits Week 2: Spaceship Earth

I don’t remember when I actually believed that there is a ride inside the giant silver ball in Epcot, but it’s a good thing I did because I can’t get enough of this attraction! I love the new additions and seeing “my future.” This week, our Healthy Habits focus on “your future.”

This week’s 4 Habits are:

1. It may seem unbelievable when you have to drink 64 oz. of it, but our “ancestors” drank water too. To help you with “your future, your “habit” is to drink a total of 64 oz. of water during the day. You can count up to 8 oz. of tea or coffee toward your total for the day.

2. Our “ancestors” were really big into record-keeping according to the narrator of Spaceship Earth. Recording what one eats and portion control are huge in weight loss and valuable habits to have. Again, this week, write down everything you eat as well as the portion size. (Example: ½ cup of plain uncooked oatmeal, cooked in ½ cup of nonfat milk, with 1 tablespoon of walnuts and 1 teaspoon of brown sugar)

3. As you journey through time, you will need strength and energy. I’ve found that the more I exercise, the more energy I have. This week, your “habit” is to exercise for a total of 20 minutes each day.

The above 3 Habits are the same as last week because you need time for something to become a habit, according to the research.
4. In “your future” you will need your teeth. Dental health is also very important. Floss your teeth daily.

Mini-Challenges

1. “Your Future:” Last we, we “recorded” our goals for the challenge. This week, ”record” up to 3 changes you hope to see in yourself at the end of the challenge.

2. The Libraries of the Middle East: Information about weight loss, eating healthy, fitness, etc. is available almost everyone. Spend some time reading information related to the goals you wrote last week.

Note: This week is from Friday, 1/6 to Thursday, 1/12 so the total possible points one can earn is now 30.

Hello Everyone!

I am trying to get myself in better shape. Over the past year, I began really focusing on my physical health by increasing my cardio fitness by taking up running. I started running to lose weight, and ironically, have not lost any despite making good progress on my running.

I am hoping to lose between 20 and 30 pounds from where I am now. The ultimate goal is to reduce body fat and increase muscle mass, hence the range.

Can't wait to get to know everyone better!

Soooooo, it's been a looooong time my lovely ladies since I have been on DIS....last login was September 10th. I feel like a bad friend who abandoned the troops during a battle!! I'm starting 2012 on the right foot and re-joining the human race...or at least the journey to good health! I just PMed Janus for a Team assignment and look forward to PMing Sue my starting weight (next week since I am too bloated at the moment to give an accurate weight...or maybe that's a GOOD idea...lol!)

I have missed you all very much and look forward to hearing about the good and bad news from the past 4 months :goodvibes

It feels really good to be BACK!

Karen--it's nice to see you! I was wondering how you are doing. How is the g-f going?

Hi Everyone!! I am getting a late start with you all, but I started my diet January 1st!! (sent PM and waiting for a team assignment!)

Here's a little about me:

I am a 27 year old SAHM to 2 little monkeys. DD - 3 and DS - 1 1/2. My weight problem started AFTER my DD was born. I had 2 very difficult pregnancies. I had hyperemesis gravidarum with both. For those of who don't know what that is...it is severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Unlike most women, the sickness doesn't end with the first trimester. I start vomiting at about 6 weeks along and go all the way until the baby is born. NOT FUN! With my daughter I was hospitalized 11 times! With my son they knew I couldn't be in the hospital that much with a little one at home so they inserted a PIC line and I was hooked up to IV fluids at home.

Well I lost 20 lbs when I was pregnant with my daughter. When I gave birth to her I felt great! I was 20 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight. However, that changed really fast. Within a year of giving birth I had gained almost 80 lbs! My whole body chemistry changed and my body didn't know how to handle food anymore, since I didn't keep much down during my pregnancy. I NEVER had a weight problem until then. So it's been about 2.5 years and this person that I see in the mirror every day IS NOT ME!! She needs TO GO!!! Well I am done having kids (can't handle anymore pregnancies like that) so it is time to find my real body again! AND 8 years and 2 beautiful kids later my fiance and I are finally getting married!!! :lovestruc The date is set for 10-11-12! We are getting married on Cocoa Beach and having a DISNEYMOON!!! (our children will be honeymooning with us too. lol) So the wedding and Disneymoon are my focus and motivation for this!!!

I am looking forward to getting to know you all during this battle/journey! I have read all 9 pages on this thread and will do the same when I am assigned a team!!! Good Luck to you all!!!!

Oh, My diet started January 1st and as of the 7th, I have lost a little over 3 pounds! My goal is to lose about 70-75 lbs. So I hope to keep this going past this challenge to get there!!!

Hello, all! I'm late, but I want -- and need! -- to join in. Having a group and some accountability helps me so much.

I don't have a team assigned yet (just PM'd buzz), but I will weigh-in tomorrow (Friday was already my weigh-in day, coincidentally).

Thanks to all the organizers and those keeping track of everything :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I'm so glad I found y'all! :cool1:

I just joined as well (hi Team Mickey!).::MickeyMo
I will have to send my weigh in info tomorrow morning.;)
Where do I find the challenges for the week? :confused3

Hello group!!

I've done it before and I'm doing it again :rolleyes1. Those darn holidays just get out of control for me. I went back and looked at my weight charts and a huge spike on Oct 12 that just kept rising! popcorn:: It starts w/ the darn halloween candy and goes through my Christmas baking.

So I need to get my rear in gear and I know the charting and "being accountable" really helps. I'll try to post as much as I can but somedays it seems I dont have time to go to the bathroom :rotfl2: That's one thing I need to work on is more me time right!!!

Anyhoo-- can't wait to get some of these pounds off - I feel horrible in these tight pants - blah!
