Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

Welcome to Healthy Habits!

My name is CC (like see-see), which is short for Christina. No one has time to say 3 syllables so, it’s been shortened to my initials. ;)

Every week you will have 4 “Habits” to do each day. There will also be 2 Mini-Challenges. These will be something like “Exercise for 45 minutes simultaneously once during the week.” The “Habits” will be things that are essential for good “Health.” One might be “Drink 6 8 oz. glasses of water per day.” I will be very clear about which 4 are for all 7 days and which 2 are the Mini-Challenges.

The Healthy Habits “week” is the same as for weigh-ins. A new “week” begins on Friday and ends on Thursday. At the end of each week, total your points and PM (private message) me them. Please list your total points in the subject of your PM. In the body of your PM, please separate each “Habit” and mini-challenge. Here is an example.
Habit #1: 5/7 days
Habit #2: 4/7 days
Habit #3: 7/7 days
Habit #4: 1/7 days
Mini-Challenge #1: Completed
Mini-Challenge #2: Not Completed

This will allow me to recognize participants who earned 7/7 for 1 or more “Habits.” It also gives me feedback for future weeks.

Please PM me your points by Tuesday at 5 PM Eastern Time. I will post the results as soon as possible after that. On random weeks, everyone who participates will be entered into the “hat” for a chance at the prize. I have bought many of the prizes already and I think they are great! :)

It is optional to participate, but I know I do so much better when I participate. :goodvibes

Welcome to Healthy Habits Week 17: The Seas with Nemo & Friends and Finding Nemo-The Musical

I haven't been posting much, but I have been reading and I've noticed a common theme in our posts. Many of us are on 2 missions. This reminded me of the movie Findig Nemo. As you know, Dory and Nemo's father go searching for Nemo. Meanwhile, Nemo and his new friends are trying to escape and Nemo intends to reunite with his father. In essence, there are 2 missions in the movide. We are trying to lose weight and become fitter. We are trying to lose weight and help a child get healthier. Some of us are trying to lose weight and avoid gluten. We are definitely multiple mission people.

So, in the spirit of Nemo, his father, and the very forgetful Dory,

For All 7 Days:

Fish love water! Take their lead and 1. Your “Habit” is to drink 8 8 oz. glasses of water per day. That's their only option and your best option! :thumbsup2

Nemo would never have escaped without a solid plan. 2. As you go about your day, write down everything you eat. This week, your “Habit” is to write down all the foods and caloric beverages you drink AND record TWO nutritional aspects of it (calories, fat, carbs, points, etc.). If you are following WW, than writing down points counts because you need to know carbs, etc. to determine the points.

Fish is an excellent source of protein. You don't have to choose fish, but 3. Focus on protein. Eat at least 2 servings of protein per day. (Consider your weight loss approch in determining how much a serving is.)

Dory's memory is amazing. ;) Let's keep ours as great as it is now! 4. Spend a few minutes each day doing something to keep your memory up to par. The "specialists" suggest activities like Sudoko, crossword puzzles, Jumble, etc. I suggest writing a "to-do" list, menu planning, or scrapbooking. If you think it counts, it counts!

Mini-Challenges:

1. Fish swim- a lot-which means they exercise a lot! Exercise for at least 15 minutes at once 3 times this week.

2. In the spirit of water, do one activity involving water this week. It can be anything from taking an extra 2 minutes in the shower to hours of swimming at the beach or at the gym.

Please, please feel free to ask any questions. You are welcome to PM me or post on the thread. I check my e-mail almost as soon as I get home from work and throughout the weekend.

Hope everyone has a great week! "Just keep swimming!"

This is a great one to recycle!

Good Friday morning everyone.

It has been pretty quiet the last couple of days. I didn't get on here yesterday becasue I was finishing reading the NHS applications. I spent yesterday working on the committee to pick the new members. We spent 3 and a half hours working.

Wednesday was ds1's birthday. He got his present over the weekend so we just went out to dinner to celebrate.

Last night yoga was canceled since the instructor was sick.

TOnight should be a quiet night. We don't have anything planned

Tomorrow I have to head down to see ds2 again. We need to cosign on his first apartment. He can start moving in on Tuesday. He is coming home next Friday after he takes his last exam and then will start packing up his room and then next Sat we will move his things down to his new apartment. We are very excited about him getting his first apartment.

I don't have anything planned for Sunday but I think it may be raining so it will be a good day to stay at home.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Good morning everyone.

I am down 1.2 lbs this week which leaves me 2.2lbs away from my goal! :goodvibes

I went to bed and woke up this morning with a slight sore throat. I am extremely worried that it'll worsen by tomorrow and that cannot happen. I don't want to be miserable during my race and during my 5 hours of photo-taking, neither of which I can really cancel. The only good side I'm looking at right now is that if I'm sick right now, there is a good chance I won't get sick on vacation.

Looks like today will consist of lots of water, tea, and hot soup!

My day consists of 2 classes, picking up my 5k packet, and heading to watch the hunger games again. (It was way too good to only watch once ;)) Then probably stop at the nearest whole foods store to see what vegan items they have now. I found out our local library is hiring so I'll be getting my butt there grab an application. I've been dying to have that job since high school!

A couple days ago, a girl from my high school posted that she was going vegan. Of course, I was extremely excited, commented, and then she let me know yesterday that it fell through because she was weak, dizzy, and sick the entire time. I was really dissapointed that happened to her, but she told me she jumped in cold thinking it'd help her lose weight. I'm guessing she didn't buy substitutes for anything she was taking out of her diet. And being vegan doesn't necessarily mean weight loss, because that's all calories. I'm a little sad because she said that after her experience she probably wouldn't try again soon. I love being vegetarian and I would've liked to help someone!

Have an awesome and healthy day!

Great job Kayla!

I've seen Hunger Games twice and Ashleigh has seen it three times and will probably see it a 4th time with some friends.

Got in 45 minutes on the elliptical this morning. Holding off on weigh in until tomorrow. Right now I'm what I was last Friday so pushing for a slight loss by tomorrow which means no Friday night cocktail for me!

Gotta get Ash moving! We leave in 20 minutes and she hasn't eaten breakfast yet!

TTFN :tigger:

hi again I've finally got a chance to pop in and say hello!
Finally lost some weight this week-even if its only a single pound!
Good luck to everyone with their weigh-ins
bye for now:)

Dona happy bday to your DS. :)

Kayla great work on being so close to your goal!! Hope you feel better

Tracey I've seen hunger games twice too. How embarrassing. I try to limit tv/movie time bc it means I'm being to sedentary. But HG was good so I don't feel "too" bad.

LTS k think you asked about hungry days. That is me! My hungry days seem to be the days that I DON'T work out. And they can be ugly. I've had a hungry week it seems. Need to get back on track.

Morning all. Just a fly by post here as I have a to. Of things to do before tomorrow. We are baptizing the baby (finally, I know) and instead of a party we are having people over at the house. "no party" turned into 20 people. Isn't that always the way?

In the midst of all the cooking and cleaning I'm headed downtown for an interview. It's actually a second interview at this one firm. So yeah, totally stress free weekend. Haha

Must stay OP. I'm looking at a gain right now but hoping I can flush some out and try again tomorrow!

Have a great day!

Morning friends! Here at the Cape enjoying girl time with my SILs! Stayed up til 1 am talking last night after some time spent doing scrapbook pages for MIL's book and dinner.

Not sure what is on the plan for today. Maybe hitting some thrift stores? One SIL loves those (as do I).

Hope everyone has a great day! ..............P

Good morning my favorite bunch of losers! My name is Melinda and I will be your coach this week! I hope we can all have a great week, stay OP, lose lots of weight, and really connect with and learn from each other. Who knows more about this journey than this fabulous group of people we have found that are on this journey right here, right now, with us? I am very glad I found this Challenge, and personally can't wait for the next one!

QOTD FRIDAY: What motivates you more to stay OP and work harder: seeing pictures of yourself when you were heavier, or seeing a picture of someone closer to your goal weight?

For me, it motivates me more to see my "fat" pictures! I so don't want to be back there!

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Thanks for coaching last week, Tracey! :thumbsup2

And a big, BL welcome to our new coach, Melinda! :yay:

I say pictures of myself when I was heavier. I have gotten to the point where I can accept them for what they are but what really motivates me is seeing pictures of myself as I get healthier again! ::yes:: Great question!

Pamela, enjoy your week-end at the Cape! :beach:

Nancy, good luck with the interview and have fun at the party! party:

bye for now:)

Woo hoo! :woohoo: Any loss is a reason to celebrate!

Kayla, you are so close to goal! :yay: Have a great time with your 5K! Hope that you are feeling better soon.

Dona, hope you have a wonderful, relaxing week-end! :flower3: Your ticker is counting down quickly! :yay:

CC, thanks for the HH! :flower3:

I'm a samer today but I am totally happy with that. Stayed home with a sick kid yesterday and ate way too much. :headache: 12 mile run tomorrow should help with that little problem.

Good luck everyone!

QOTD - I would say both motivates me. I was looking at disney pictures from 2 years ago so I can figure out what to pack for this year and I couldn't believe how chubby I looked. I said to my boyfriend "Why didn't you tell me I looked so fat!" His response? "You never look fat to me." (yeah I love him). But I really do see a difference and I try to keep that in mind when I crave cupcakes..which is all the time.

Picture's of other people motivate me as well. Even famous people. I understand that most of the time their body type is unattainable but it still motivates me to work hard.

Yesterday I had my first personal training day at the gym at it totally kicked my butt but was great! My trainer was really nice but hard and she really pushed me which was great cause that's exactly what I asked her to do. I told her i'm fine on cardio, but I need to know how to tone and strength train and she did exactly what i wanted. She said she wants to make me swimsuit ready and while i know i won't get there before the cruise if i stick with this program i will see results.

Today I am so sore! I am supposed to do my strength workout three times a week so I'm going to try to force myself to go to the gym on a saturday, (something I've NEVER done) and make sure to get my work out in. Today since I'm so sore I may do some yoga on demand or just 30 min of cardio. I'm going to be smoking hot in no time

Now its time to finish this paper!

QOTD FRIDAY: What motivates you more to stay OP and work harder: seeing pictures of yourself when you were heavier, or seeing a picture of someone closer to your goal weight?

Fat pictures for sure!! Totally gross!

Kayla Congrats on your loss! Almost to maintainer!
I hope your throat feels better!

Me apparently we have a race on Sunday! Our HS hosts a race every year to raise money for AED's for local sports teams and schools. Coach had a student die on the course from sudden cardiac arrest in 2007, so his parents have a run every year in his honor.
I need to see which of the kids wants to run it. I know DS15 is. And I might.

No weight loss this week but I'm not surprised. I didn't really get much fitness in. I will weigh in tomorrow for a confirmed number.

What are your plans for the weekend and what do you plan on doing to help you stay on plan?

I'm taking today and finishing up a few things around the house that need to be done (clean my bathroom and my office). Alan is doing a load of laundry for me so I have clothes to pack. I'll be in bed early because I have to be up around 7am. Bestie's flight doesn't come in til 11am but I need to get up, work out, eat, shower, and then its a 45 minute drive to the airport. Luckily tomorrow is just my strength training day so I can do a little bit before we leave and then finish up when we get back.

We'll pick her up from the airport, grab some lunch somewhere, and just come back to the house and relax. I'm sure at one point she'll crash and take a nap (she has to be at DFW airport around 530 in the morning). We're going to grill chicken and probably just hang out pool side.

Sunday we're celebrating Alan and Josh's birthdays with cake and ice cream. I'm going to do boneless ribs in the crockpot. We'll probably get to bed at a decent hour so bestie and I can head over to Epcot in the morning. Alan may or may not tag along for the day. We have ressies that night at Le Cellier for his birthday.

What do you do when you are exercising? Do you read, listen to music, watch tv or just chill?

Depends on what I'm doing. If I'm on the treadmill I like to watch DVR'ed episodes of NCIS. If I'm walking outside I take my IPOD along with me. If I'm just doing strength training in the house I usually just watch some tv or turn on the music channel on the satelite. If I'm in the pool sometimes I turn the stereo on (we have an outlet on our deck).

Afternoon!

Josh's birthday was yesterday. Every year my emotions are different. Last year I was a bawling mess 10 minutes after I woke up. This year I was just more angry then anything. I felt cheated that everything we had to look forward to as a family wasn't ever going to happen. I spent a lot of time outside by the pool. I just felt more depressed the longer I was in the house.

I'm only down .2 this week but I chalk it up to its just been an emotional week. I'm hoping I don't massive damage while I'm at Disney. It always seems to happen no matter how careful I am. I'm taking my pedometer to make sure I track my mileage. On our off days I'll either swim, walk the joggnig trail, or go to the gym.

I got some new shorts in the mail last night. I had to order a few more because I only have 2 pair that fit. I needed more stuff to wear at the parks. I ordered 16s as well just to have them when the day comes that they fit. I tried them on, got them buttoned and zipped but I couldn't breathe, :). I'd say probably another 5 to 10 pounds and they'll fit. Which will mean I'm in ONEDERLAND when I can slip them on!

Well, I need to get off of here and get busy. I not only have these house chores to do I also have a 5K to do on my treadmill for another challenge I'm part of on Sparkpeople. I'll try to check back later tonight. I feel so disconnected from everyone because I've been either busy or just an emotional mess.

Everyone have a great OP day!

And Welcome Melinda as our new coach!!! And boy oh boy I need some coaching!! :rotfl2:

Motivation.....the Vineyard Vines skirt I bought 5 years ago that has never fit me and that still has the tags on it...granted it was on clearance at Marshalls when I bought it... My skirt resides in my kitchen...usually hanging out near the refridge/freezer....I especially notice it when I am looking for the ice cream. This skirt is a constant reminder that I woudl like to fit into it before I turn 40.....absolute motivation.

Sorry I have been off the board for a few days. I was hit with a yucky cold that just seems to linger. I'm less congested today but for the past 3 days I came home from work and slept. My 5 miles scheduled for Tuesday was postponed when my fever hit 100 :sad2: My eating has been ok for most of the week but the lack of exercise has been my downfall. I weigh in on Sunday morning for WW since I will be celebrating National Scrapbooking Day tomorrow by attend an all day crop with some friends. I just bought a TON on digital content for my digital scrapbooking and will be printing my 2010 Disney 12x12 book this week - 46 pages of MAGIC :earsboy:

I'm trying to get out of here early today since my seniors are all at Six Flags for National Physics Day. I'm going to see Sweet Charity at a local playhouse tonight and then packing for the crop! I am packing my own food so I am not tempted to go crazy and gluten myself

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!! I will be checking back in on Sunday :flower3:

I don't remember who posted it, but they asked if anyone has hungry days. I'm having one of those days!!! I had some honey nut cheerios for breakfast, soup and a slice of flax seed bread for lunch, and right now my stomach won't stop growling! I just ate half the box of honey nut cheerios! I guess its better than potato chips, which has been my go to snack the past few months! STill I just feel like I'm starving! This happens a lot when I'm studying or writing papers, which is all i've been doing all day. (well attempting at least).

I'm procrastinating a lot on this paper, I've got 3 1/4 pages and its supposed to be 5-7 and i wanted to have it done yesterday. It's just very boring and honestly I am sick of writing. It needs to get finished tonight no matter what, and then i will be one step closer to freedom.

I am getting more sore as the day goes on. There seems to be no relief. Anyone have any suggestions on how to soothe sore aching muscles? I forgot how much it hurts!

Ok i'm going to go try to ignore my growling stomach and aching muscles and finish this darn paper!

Thank you for all your comments and well-wishes! :flower3:

Both! Sometimes when I am feeling down about my progress I look at pictures of the old me and I remember how far I've come. When I want to stay motivated to workout and reach my goal I head to fitness blogs and pinterest boards to motivate me.

----
Throat feels alright, but I have a bad feeling tomorrow isn't going to be fun. Putting a damper on my 5k. :sad2: We'll see!

Saw the Hunger Games again, still awesome! I realized I hate doing things alone. I walked around the mall for about 30 minutes trying to find clips for my hair and it was no fun at all.

I was hungry so I planned on getting broccoli cheddar soup from Subway for 280 calories. They didn't have any! I ended up getting 6" wheat veggie delight with a yogurt parfait for around 500. It was actually really good.

Anyone else still eating Easter chocolate? No? Nobody? Just me? :rotfl: Drats, those cadbury mini eggs are my favorite thing ever.

OYE!

The tenants we have living in our TX house just called Alan an hour ago. The dishwasher bit the dust. It was the original one that was in the house when it was built back in 99, so it definately got its use out of it. Now, we're trying to find one to have delivered out there and hooked up. Luckily, we have the number to our tenants now and can deal with them directly. If I had to deal and wait for the realtor I probably wouldn't freaking know til next week while I'm at Disney World!

:wave2:

I swear there was a post or 2 that I was going to respond to but didn't hit quote and now cant remember what it was. So sending :cool1::cheer2: and :flower3: and  to everyone and I hope that covers it all.

Fine day at work. They have a main office sub that is often there and she is really friendly. Found out today that she is on WW so we discussed that a few times. It is always nice to have live support and someone to bounce ideas off of.

Speaking of which: Has anyone here tried the PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter? A coworker and I were going to split the cost of ordering it so we can try it. She said it has good reviews.

Dinner is ready-- have to run!
