I am so ready for BL8!
I'd be happy to coach again -- I just can't do it around Thanksgiving. I'd also prefer sometime later in the season, since I have yet to complete my Summer BL coaching yet!
I like the simple calculation. I think it's really discouraging when you gain then lose, and it seems like it doesn't count...but then again I'm not a very Big Loser. I'm very big, but I don't lose much!

This seems to be the best solution...that way the week is a snap shot of that week. I know there have been times in past challanges where I thought I should have been on the top 10 for that week but wasn't because I had gained or forgot to send in my numbers the week before. So I'm going to take the simple way, and each week the results will truly be the results for the week.
The totals, or Challenge-to-date results will be a comparison of starting to current.
I like this. There have been times where I plumb forgot or thought I had sent mine in and hadn't.summer, weigh-in day was Friday, and I tried posting reminder posts of who hadn't reported in yet on Sunday or Monday. .
So I'm going to take the simple way, and each week the results will truly be the results for the week.
The totals, or Challenge-to-date results will be a comparison of starting to current.
I agree with you and Christa that this is a good way to do it -- that way you recognize both kinds of progress! (Can you hear "the best of both worlds" in your head now?!?)
LuvBaloo - I like that you remind us - I don't think it's pressure at all. I know I would like the reminder if I forgot to report.
I'm okay with either weight loss accounting method you were discussing.
However, for the maintainers I think we would have to go with the harder method where the maintain is within so many pounds or percent of the original weight. Because if the maintainer gained one pound each week and never lost any, they would end up gaining a lot over the challenge. Maybe you have already thought of this and I'm just being obvious.![]()
Yes! You can definitely go from a loser to a maintainer mid-challenge!
The intention behind a maintainers team, is that some people like the accountability of reporting in, so the thought is that maintainers will be listed as successes (stay with a certain pounds or % of goal weight). I don't know that there will be a winner for maintainers; I see it more of a did it or not; so if we have 10 maintainers and they all stay within accepted range, they are all successful maintainers. This part is a new idea, so we're very open to ideas on how to do it.
I voted for the one thread, but if the numbers are really large, then I'm okay with teams. The BL 7.1 teams got very quiet on the purple thread, and so I ended up lurking on the green thread a fair bit, but didn't really post there since it wasn't my team.
Looking forward to hearing some fresh ideas!![]()
I'm right where you are- one thread, and yay for maintainers. I felt guilty towards the end of the challenge and gave up but a part of me was just happy with the weight I am now... I kept missing the weigh ins too and felt guilty. I have maintained my weight though since my 25 pound loss staying at 150 or lower since March. I do need to get back into the swing with exercise though. Maybe I'll just pay more attention to inches this winter.
Please never feel guilty about missing weigh-ins.
I think anybody is welcome to participate in the thread whether they are weighing in or not.
PS how's the cat you were bottle feeding?
