I used to have a walking partner here at work but she retired and now I have no one to walk with. Just not so much fun walking alone. Guess maybe I need to invest in an IPOD or MP3 player and walk anyway.
Turn your thinking around. Instead of your walks being a "social" event think about your walks as being "me time." That is what I do and let me tell you how upset I get when my "me time" get interrupted because of work, kids or whatever.
 
I'll be traveling through next week (returning the 14th) as well. I want to join! (I posted waaaaaay back in this thread.) I've never been on the boards at the beginning of one of the BL Challenges, but I'd love to "begin at the beginning" with the group.

I'm headed to Disneyland today, doing the 5K and the half there (God willing) -- Just walking, but I enjoy it so much! If I find a place to weigh there and post it, I will. Otherwise, I'll need to catch up with you after I return from my trip. You'd think someone who did half marathons would be thin, but I need to lose about 60 pounds to get to a healthy weight (not a thin weight, just an acceptable one).

I'm looking forward to the challenge!

If you want, you can sent LuvBaloo your starting weight now or wait until you return -- you'll just send your starting weight in on 9/18 instead of 9/11.

Good luck with the marathon! I am sure that you will see some other WISHers there. I hope the heat and smoke clear out for you all. Have a super time and we will see you when you return!

Also I cannot tell you how much I love putting on my old headphones and walking with my ancient old walkman. I have so many tapes I don't listen to anymore- tapes I made myself- it makes a huge difference in your walk. You can also get mp3 players these days pretty cheap with the smaller memory. I have one that's only 512 mg's but it holds something like 6 hours of music--that's enough for a walk...:)
