Big Pet Peeve - and it's not ADRs, DDPs, or Perks

I cant tell you how many times I saw mad parents last week because the driver made them fold their stroller to get on the bus. It isnt allowed.

We rented a double stroller from orlando rental and it was the best thing ever. Folded flat in a mere 2 seconds. Luckily on the few trips we took on the bus we were first on and went straight to the back. There were 6 of us so we took the whole back row and the stroller sat in fron of our legs so that no seats were blocked.

On the monorail, well thats one of the reasons why we stayed at a monorail resort. We didnt have to fold it and take the kids out. We always made as much room as possible if it was crowded.

Actually, every Disney bus should be wheelchair accessible, holding a maximum of 2 chairs or ECVs. If those two slots are in use, they can not load any more non-ambulatory guests. Those two slots use an area that consists of 6 jump seats, meaning that a maximum of only 4 guest seats are actually lost if both chair slots are loaded with chairs or ECVs.

Actually for two ECVs all 6 guest slots are lost because the guests riding the ECVs are asked to transfer to a regular seat if possible. I'm not slamming ECV users as my DH uses one and we travel with friends using ECVs.

Wheelchair guests remain in their chairs, so the net loss of seats will vary from 4 to 6 for two non-ambulatory guests. ECV guests transfer (if possible) for safety reasons, wheelchair guests do not need to, as they don't tip over as easily.

Last trip there was the guy with a "SUV" stroller (big sucker). Bus driver tells him to fold it to get on so the guy cops an attitude but folds it up and it's still big. The guy lugs it onto the bus and 3' from the front drops it in the isle and continues to walk to the back of the bus to sit. So others getting on the bus had to about step on the dang thing to get on. Then during the ride it keeps rolling back and forth. What a jerk.

WOW!! That should not have been tolerated by the driver. That's a hazard.

I'm a stroller person, and though I don't have a HUGE stroller, it's not an umbrella one either. We take great pains to have it folded up & ready to go & DH always tries to find a spot where he's most out of the way. It's not the strollers that are the real problem, it's the inconsiderate stroller owners out there who don't care how many people they hit along the way or how long it takes them to fold it up & empty it when they wait til the last minute.

The rule should be if the stroller's not ready when it's your turn to board, step aside & let everyone else on. If there's no room when you're ready, wait for the next bus. You'll be ready then!

As always, if you don't like the way things are on the buses, feel free to rent a car...but don't assume I should just b/c I have a stroller. The buses are there for all resort guests & that includes their strollers. Etiquette works both ways.
