Any suggestions for a backpack that will fit the shoulders and chest of a bigger person...

Have you tried looking at some of the big and tall shops? I wonder if they might have something...or check the jansport, eastport...those big name backpack companies sites online...you could always email them and ask.

I would go with LL Bean... since they have a 100% return policy- no questions asked, so if it didn't fit right or was uncomfortable, you could easily return it even if it had been worn. Also, they have online customer service people that you can ask questions of right on their website and they can tell you the exact measurement of any item so that might help too. HTH
