BIG hair?

me too. Mine was HUGE. Gotta love aquanet.:lmao:

Oh i LOVED AQUANET..I used to have "wings", and I can remember being in bars, and hurting people with my hair..:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I can also remember thinking my hair was not that BIG:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

THe bad part is when it rained, and all that hair spray melted.

BTW, I still have big hair, minus the spray.

I am a bit older so when I graduated high school it was 1978. Long straight parted down the middle hair. It was gorgeous. Then came disco and the Farrah hairdo. Did it. I never really had big hair just Farrah hair. I still have my long hair at 47. (Think Jane Seymour's hair) At least no one thinks I'm 47.;)

I loved Aqua Net in the pink and white can. I had pretty big hair too in high school - not huge though. Those girls we used to refer to as Hair Bears (no offense anyone!!)

Ah yes, I remember the haze of aqua net in the girls room well. :lmao: You didn't really need your own can, just being close and getting the over spray worked fine. Can't beat 99cents a can either. :lmao:

I had big hair, now of course others had bigger hair. Still looking at my HS pictures, we all had the SAME hair. I have curly hair, so why did I feel the need to use a curling iron??????? Peer pressure is my guess.

Don't worry, you don't be the only one who had big hair. As long as your hair isn't just the same now you should be fine at your reunion! :cool1: :lmao:

Girls with the super big hair were referred to as "Aquanettas". We had a huge group of them. I had big hair, but my hair was dwarfed compared to the Aquanettas.

I forgot to mention that not only did I have big hair, use a curling iron and use my fair share of Aquanet. I also used a blow dryer to "set" the aquanet. I would spray it, then set it. Tease it a bit. Re spray it, set it again. And if I was unhappy with how it was going, I would comb out the spray, re curl and start again. Long process for just my bangs. Also had to have decent wings. The blow dryer worked great for that.

My sis used to say "excuse me while I stare, but you've got BIG hair" :lmao:

I remember the days. Our hair was burning with the Aqua Net burned on the curling iron :rotfl: I got a very expensive portrait down with my DS back then, the pic is like 20x20 and still on my wall :rotfl2: hey I'll take the bad hair comments, my face was soo young and smooth!

I am PROUD to admit that I never did the big hair thing!! I am from Jersey, graduated high school in late 1980's, and never had big hair - can you believe it?? I kept my mousy brown hair as flat, dull, plain, and straight as possible. I was teased and put down by "friends" (with the biggest hair possible) for having such a bad style, but I refused to change back then. Well .....

Fast forwards to today. My graduating class started a very active website where we all update what we are doing, and also posted all our senior photos!! I am literally the only one who looks "normal" since I had long straight hair :) - and everyone else looks RIDICULOUS!! I am probably the only female in the class of '88 who can show her face proudly at the next reunion!! Sweet revenge for "not going with the flow" back then! :rotfl:

Don't you remember Fran Drescher in "The Nanny" saying, "The bigger the hair, the smaller the hips!"

:rotfl2: Did you all make sure the back of your hair was big too, or was it completely flat??? That's what always cracked me up with the big hair girls. From the front, the hair was a mile high an a mile wide, but from the back, it was all slicked straight and flat as a pancake.

I did it a little bit in the 80s. I teased the top a little bit, and then did small wings at the temples. I never needed much teasing or Aqua Net to make it poof, because my hair is really curly and I have lots of it.

There is a local 80's cover band here called "Aquanette"

:rotfl:

My hair is stick straight, so in order to get the big hair I had to first perm it, then use the curling iron or hot rollers WITH hairspray. I still could never get those big poofed out bangs like my friend Kim did. I also colored my hair.

My wedding pictures show my big hair. Sad part is, all that perming and coloring - my hair was shoulder length - the top half was my natural auburn and the bottom half went from light brown to almost blonde at the bottom. :rotfl:

I'll admit it, I had the big 80's hair. Long in back, layered on the sides, poofed on top, often wearing a ribbon or clip to pinch in the top part into a bigger poof. All my friends and I had that hair.

Although that big poof has been gone awhile it is only recently that I have acquired a newer, more modern look. I wore it long with some type of pulled up clip action in front for many years, stuck in a hair time warp. Now my hair is long still, but straight, with a part slightly to the side. There are some shorter angled pieces in the front that sort of give me something to sweep over and mess with during the day with my fingers. No more clips, bows or poofs.

I had the 'pouf' that went straight up in the front. Backcomb, spray, blow dry it to set it, more spray.
Those were the days.....

The pouf! OH YES, I did have the pouf! It's so embarrassing to look at those pictures now. My dd laughes herself silly when she gets the old albums out.

And I used Aqua net in mass quantities. Honestly, I think if I had fallen down my hair would have broken off in one piece!

Since this past Spring of 2006 I have not curled or sprayed my hair and I have only used the blow dryer on it a handful of times...Signed a fomer big haired momma! DD 16 is so proud of me...:rotfl:
