Hi there! We are in the midst of planning a SoCal trip for April 2015. We're debating between two weekends for our time in the LA-area and noticed that hotel rates for the weekend of April 17-18, 2015 are about double what they are the weekend prior (looking at hotels in Hollywood and Beverly Hills). In fact one of the hotels we were considering is all sold out.

I've tried a bunch of combinations of searches to see if there's a big event in town and am not coming up with anything. Wondering if any of the good folks here might be able to help clue me in :goodvibes.

Thank you for any help!

Could be the LA Book Festival, sometimes there are marathons around that time, Coachella is also around that time but don't know why people would be staying in LA...

It is definitely not college spring break, as that is always in March.

Thank you for the responses! I think we will go ahead and stick with the weekend of the 11th for our LA days. I looked up the book festival you mentioned and it says it brings in 150k people so I can see why rates are higher.

The reason we thought of switching our itinerary around in the first place was so we could do DLR at the start of the trip instead of the end was because I realized we will be hitting DLR during the Star Wars Celebration at the Anaheim Convention Center (thinking that could up the crowds at DLR). But the rates in the LA-area make the switch not so attractive lol. Will keep what we have and hope for the best!

Thanks again!
