I don't drive a truck. When I did drive a truck, it was a little tiny Toyota. When I pulled up behind someone at a stop sign waiting for traffic to clear, I turned the headlights off and just left parking lights on out of courtesy until they pulled away. When behind someone, I left plenty of room.
You know what they say about all these full size monsters on the road, right? It is size compensation for the lack of size elsewhere.
Every day in my little VW Jetta, I have someone with the world's smallest.... behind me.
Once had someone riding my bumper in something that would have made him have the 2nd smallest.... I was running 75 mph on a 55 mph road. He rode so close to me in my little Altima that I couldn't even see out my windshield because all I could see was the reflection of myself and the interior of the car. I showed my brake lights a few times and finally reached the flat and said, "Ok, see if you can keep up." The old Altima doesn't have a speed limiter at 105 mph like most cars, we'll say.... He was gone.
I turned onto the back road that cut across to work. Sure enough, there he is again. This time, I suddenly seemed to have acceleration issues. My car just didn't seem to want to get above 15 mph. That's at least an 8 mile run along that road. Out onto a main throughway again and onto a small town road, he followed me. Followed me right into the work parking lot. It was a coworker, a well known jack***.
He jumped out screaming and yelling about running late for work, etc. I let him know that next time he is riding my bumper that close that I can't even see through the reflection on the windshield at 75 mph in a 55, he will be guaranteed to be very late for work. What do I care, I don't have a shift and get there when I want, so we'll both definitely be getting to work around 7:30 instead of he getting there by his 7:00 shift.
