Or both! Its looking coooooold next week. I have a heavy waterproof jacket which has a zip-in liner (which can be worn as a jacket separately) which is my usual non-work winter wear. But it is heavy - and stiff. I was hoping to wear a lightweight jacket with layers - but I think it may be too cold for that (and if I'm unlikely to take my jacket off except in the restaurants the weight doesn't matter). Both have hoods, so i can keep my tiara dry :rotfl:

Advice from those who've been in the cold? It was way hot last time we were there, so I have no idea how cold it is to do a day in the parks - obviously cold waiting for the parades, and I take it there's no heating eg in moteurs action (like there was no a/c either!).

TIA

We were there last week and it was very cold at points (ie gloves required weather) and then warm in the sun somtimes. We went for layers which seemed to work for us.

Only heavy thing we had was DD's snowsuit which I ended up carrying one afternoon

I'd advise layers :thumbsup2

I would always opt for layers.

Couldn't be bothered carrying a big jacket if I got too warm

Found layers worked really well in Feb when we were there. It didn't rain, so we just carried our lightweight rain coats in my bag when we got warm enough.

Definately go for layers. We went last November and found we were hot in a big coat.

I'm planning on taking layers, including my hat, scarf and gloves!

We went in February this year and it was FREEZING!! We had lots of layers- including thermals and if(and I mean if) it warmed a little we just took a layer off!! I came back with the flu and DH says I've not been the same since!!

Another vote for layers. ::yes:: Is your lightweight jacket wind and/or waterproof? That will also help keep out any cold.

I call snow showers cold! The thing is, is it going to be warm enough to take the coat off? My thin coat is very thin - it is lined cotton, but you can wear it in the summer without getting sweaty. It is wind-proof(ish) and waterproof, but I hate being cold and if I'm not going to take the jacket off it doesn't matter about the weight. I think I'll try both in the garden on Sunday and see what its like - I was just thinking about sitting on those benches watining for the stunt show :worried:

After looking through this thread I opted for layers, but I'm also taking my very thin cotton parka.... :goodvibes

My main problem is can I fit enough layers under the lightweight coat without looking like a Michelin man? (more than usual, that is :lmao: ) I've got a couple of those clever t-shirts that are supposed to be warm in winter and cool in summer - like football shirts with style;) ) which i could put under polo necks, under a fleece, under the jacket, and I could maybe fit a padded gilet between the fleece and the jacket. I've got some heavy jumpers but if I take them off they'll take my makeup with them, IYSWIM:rotfl:

The BBC is forecasting 7-9 degrees. Not warm!

Dress rehersal Sunday before packing I think:rotfl2:

Ah ! The weather forecast I saw was predicting 12degrees - not much warmer but those extra few degrees do make a difference.

Read on a different thread about taking fleece blankets to wrap up in/sit on when waiting for shows - if it is that cold they will be invaluable.

Will make sure we pack some just in case !

Good tip! We don't like to carry too much in the parks but I might persuade DH this is a good idea!

I went in Dec and we've never felt cold like that before! LOL. And we are known for the cold here in Newcastle. I wore lots of layers, one day i had about 5 layers on i think and i kept wearing two pairs of socks and 2 pairs of gloves. I felt huge LOL. My feet still got really cold though especially when waiting around for parades so make sure you move your feet around as much as you can and dont stay still for too long. I still ended up coming back full of cold though but it doesnt help that i dont really drink any hot drinks- just cold water lol.

Layers, definitely :-)

Just got back, when it was cloudy it got pretty cold (especially during the stunt show!) but on the last day when the sun came out it was gorgeous :-)

Also recommended is the bright yellow ponchos they sell. They're quite expensive (8 euros) but work really well at keeping the wind off and pack down pretty small.

Another vote for layers, we were there Oct last year and although very cold in the mornings (hats, scarf, gloves etc) the sun did come out in the afternoons so layers were much easier to cope with!

The forecast on the BBc site for next Weds is :
at home......10 C and sunny
in Paris.........5 C heavy rain

Who persuaded me that Paris in Spring would be sooooo lovely? :headache: :lmao:
