Big Changes with Dining Plan

I'm shocked!!! Some of our favorite restaurants are not on the Dining Plan for 2007!!!

The list of restaurants NOT INCLUDED are:
All downtown disney locations except Capt. Jack's... That means Raglan Rd isn't on the dining plan!!!
The others include the CS in France, Mexico, China, Morocco, Japan, Dino Bites and Petrifries were also removed from the plan.
Other TS restaurants in addition to those mentioned above NOT INCLUDED are:
Chefs de France, Alfredo's, San Angel, Japan, China, and Morocco!!!!

As I was reading, maybe it's because they sign up on contracts with Disney to be on the Dining Plan so maybe no cause for giving up on the dining plan if these are restaruants that will make a difference. Maybe they will renew with Disney... BUT do you think they are now backing out because it's not worth it for the individual restaurants any longer????

Just checked the WDW webwsite and the list they give (in that Adobe file) hasn't changed. Raglan Road and the Epcot CS places are still there.

Where did you hear that?

Actually, I was going back and forth between DisBoards and Allearsnet and I did find it there. I came back here and looked quickly through the restaurant posts and didn't see anything... Now I read the posts supplied by Amieedyan and saw the 2007 Dining Plan. As I read in another post on a different thread and then thought about it, maybe they are under negotiations and these restaurants will come back in to the DP.

From what I recently read Tempenyaki is going to be closed for 2-3 months starting in jan I believe for major refurb. The others no one knows and dining told me they were told by their bosses that people can still make adr's for these places, but they are to be told making the ressies they understand this venue may decide not to participate in the plan again and they will be obligated to pay oop if they dine there. Also the things about MAYBE honoring the ressies made by people before this all happend who were going to use the plan is not going t happen. The CM said that on jan 1 07 the places opting out will no longer have the room key machine to be able to deduct the credit. I have checked back again today and they are still in pending mode. Looks like Japan might have gotten out of it for at least the first half of the 07 year based on the refurb of the venue. The dining brochure is still the same as it was yesterday. Do make sure to check your dining info dates on allears, and wdwinfo as some are still saying on plan along with disneys website if you locate the page by theme park or dining finder. I think All ears has updated with the new info, but again double check it.

Not to say that they might not change who is/isn't on the DDP, but I looked online and there are changes. If you go to Disney's website, somewhere in the dining section, there are now two DDP brochures. I think you have to go to a Magic Your Way with Dining Package. You can then click on a link for 2006 OR 2007.

Looks like a lot of the non-Disney owned places are opting out again.

The counter in Morocco and the counter in Mexico are going to hurt. Ouch

Chef's De France will too.


But are they truly opting out or have they just not yet opted in?

I have an ADR at Chefs on our last evening of the DDP. I am going to have to check into this and will cancel if it is not included.

Deany, I dont think the changes start now. In 2006. Only in 2007.. At least that is what I was told, when I called disney dining. They told me, the changes, will not affect. My ressies for my trip in Sept. So, I dont think you have much to worry about.

We are going in feb for our Honeymoon and I have adr's in marakesh, and Chefs, I also have one at downtown Disney Raglen Road. If those places in epcot opt out I will probably cancel them, but will keep Raglen Road I really would like to try it if it's worth it. I just don't want to cancel any and then regret that we did not do it during our honeymoon. I think this is just added stress for the folks who are going at the start of next year. Now things have to be changed around or retimed unless you just choose to pay oop. . Yes this is for 07 vacations/and or honeymoons and so forth

There's always a risk, whether you book something ahead of time or try to book something closer to the date. What we can rest assured of is that a WDW is always a great opportunity for a great time, and the we can have a wonderful dining experience wherever we're able to get reservations.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about the change in the list of participating restaurants. It's August, and that list has four months worth of changes to absorb. It is possible that the list, once it becomes valid, will not resemble the list today at all. We shouldn't worry about what hasn't happened yet.

This makes no sense to me whatsoever since Disney restaurants have been accepting room keys for charges as long as I can remember?

I could see them changing the software but I think that would cause way too many problems/confusion.

Rather, I think what the CM meant is that the non-participating restaurants would (of course) be unable to process a Dining Plan charge, after January 1.

Given how much variety there is in the questions we guests are prone to ask, that's very likely!
