Big announcement 10/4 on Main St!

I read on another Disney Board that there's some BIG announcement on October 4th....
Apparently 5000 cast members are going to line Main Street for a 'special event'
WHO'S Heard of this??!? Anyone? This is all I heard! I need to know!

This sounds like the family who was chosen to have the Magic Kingdom to themselves will be there that day. I believe that is when it was supposed to happen. I've been standing by my phone for the last month hoping they would have called me, but it never happened.

If I remember correctly, the family will get to visit each land before the rest of the public follows behind them. The family will get to enjoy each land by themselves and when they are finished with a land the rest of the public will get to enter that area.

This would be amazing if you are the one lucky family who wins, but what a bummer it will be for the other thousands of families who have to wait. Hopefully, they will open the MK early enough that most of the park will be open to everyone at normal opening time. If not, just think about the poor family who is going for a short trip and the 4th is the only day they can go to MK and then when they get there they are denied access until this family is done. It would be a not so magical day for those people. Still wouldn't you just die to be that one family?

I hate to be "that" person, but I am really bummed about this. I have 8:15 Crystal Palace ressies on the 4th, with a plan to hit Fantasy Land at 9 and leave to go back to the room for a nap at 11:30. In our group we have a 4 yo, a 3 yo, a 14 month old, and a 10 month old. So the back to the room for a nap is a must, and explaining to pre-schoolers - no you can't ride Dumbo this morning we didn't win a prize is less than magical.


OK rant over. I guess I am off to call Dis Dining and see if I can switch the ressies to the 5th. Gotta make lemonade

Maybe the announcement is going to be a new discount on packages. I would love that or maybe they are going to release Balloons with free trips inside. ha-ha I bet they are announcing in person a little more about the yoamdd to get people excited and to up attendance.

The CM's need to be there at 5 AM and their shift runs until 8. So it may not interfere with anyone elses time in the park. There are going to be TV crews there.

Seeing that there will be TV crews there, does anyone know if any of the ABC morning talk shows such as Good Morning America, Regis and Kelly or The View may be there? Would love to be able to tape it to watch that night!
