We're going (ME46, DM66, DD6) in Sept. for free dining. My mom and I ate at Biergarten in 1998 and I remember it being just okay. We rushed ourselves to see Illuminations so we didn't spend much time there. For those who have gone within recent memory, how was it? And if you were on DDP, what beverage was included? Coffee and soda only or milkshake and coffee specialties? Would you use your TS credits there?

Thanks :thanks: in advance for info.

DW and I ate here for the first time this past August, and were not on the dining plan. Overall, it was just an average experience. The food, I thought, was really good (DW may disagree :rolleyes1 ), but that didn't make up, we felt, for the uninspired entertainment (and they weren't even German, they were Americans--that, to us, was a bit odd, considering how in every other WS pavillion, the employees were nationals from that particular country), and, especially, the fact that we had to sit and eat with total strangers (admittedly, we knew this going in, but I, being a somewhat shy person, just couldn't get past it), two of whom seemed very put out that others were sitting with them at "their" table.

Would we do it again? Wife says, "No way!" I'd only do it if I was with a big group of people, so we could get a table of our own. (Did I say I was shy? Make that antisocial. )

DD18 is into her German phase (finishing up German II in HS)... she likes it.

DM62 loves it... just today, she said she'd rather go back there than Boma. She finds a way to eat there everytime she goes with us.

I (42) think it is okay... I don't go every year, every couple of years is okay. But we also have an excellent German place here at home. At WDW, I like to eat things I can't get at home.

We ate there last July. My DH loved it, we had a front row center table and got to see the entire show.

Show was interesting, but as for the food, I was raised by a very good German Cook (myDM) and so I thought the food was somewhat lacking. My DH disagrees but I think it was because of the size of the Pitcher's of beer he drank. :rotfl2:

My DH wants to go back next month but my DS and me say no way. There are so many other places I would rather go.

DH, DS, and I ate there in December. We are BUFFET people and definitely filled up on some good food and had a "perfectly fine" time with the strangers at our table. Not much interaction but no problems. We had better dinners throughout WDW, but wouldn't have a problem going back to the Biergarten.

It's one of Epcot's better places, IMO. Since it also includes free entertainment, it's also a good value. We have always enjoyed our meals there and it's one of our traditional "must do" places.

We found it decent but not something we'd have to return for. Sharing a table was fine with us because we sat next to a longtime CM who'd worked at MK since shortly after WDW opened, so talking to him was kind of neat. I've spent lots of time in Germany and was therefore disappointed in the food and entertainment and atmosphere. It was really half empty when we went, but the food wasn't being replenished, either, which sort of irritated me. It wasn't awful but, no, we're not going back on this trip, either.

Biergarten is a must do for us every trip. Sometimes even twice! We like just about everything on the buffet and DH loves the beer! :rotfl:

We went for the first time last fall and we loved it, my husband's family is of German heritage and he really enjoyed the food. My mother's DH is German, still has accent and everything, he had a wonderful time and did like the food. I don't know if it is inconsistent or if peoples opinions are just different. We have decided this is a must do for us next time. I had the wine flight and it was good, my DH said the beer was great especially the Optimator

The 1st time we went was in 02. None of us were overly impressed at that time. Then DD who is 13 now and I returned while DS and DW went to San Angel. Since that time we have been at least 3 times and each time the food has been really good. The show is still basically the same with the same guys bu that has always been good IMO. Another poster stated that those guys are American. That is true but their background is German and they are very fluent in it.
