Biergarten- lunch vs dinner

My sons are taking German this year and so they want to eat at Biergarten when we go to Epcot. And my husband loves beer, so he's in! LOL

I was debating on the time to make our reservation- lunch or dinner. Are both buffet? I was confused since I can't find a price, just a range, so I wasn't sure if one was buffet and the other we order off menus?

Does the band play all day or is that just for dinner?

One last question, I noticed that they were listed as 10% off when your Disney Visa is used. Has anyone had any problems getting the discount?

TIA!

They're exactly the same menu and meal. Both buffet.

All buffet prices are in the sticky with the Buffets & AYCTE pricing on the Restaurant board.

The band plays shows all day, but does not play ALL day.

This was not my experience and not what I'm seeing in the DisBoards sticky or from menu choices on other reputable sites.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, lunch and dinner are a ~$10 price difference. When we've been at dinner vs lunch, several more meat options were available. My DH and DSs prefer the dinner for that reason.

I am pretty sure saurbraten is only available at dinner. Either way you won't be disappointed

Biergarten: (incl tax, excl tip)

lunch . . . 10/02/2016 Adult: $31.95, Child: $17.04
dinner. . . 10/02/2016 Adult: $40.47, Child: $21.30

I thought they'd run the pricing together like so many other places, but I was wrong. The band does play at both, and they're both buffet, however.

We've done both and they were both good. Last time we went the band started their first show at 1 pm. Not sure if that has changed, though.

We had an early dinner. It was very good. The food was authentic and great quality - I was impressed. This was many years ago. I hope it hasn't changed. Can't wait to go back.

i asked about this on the boards a while ago and got tons of great responses. lunch is a great bargain but some things are missing. i have it booked myself, I can't wait!

We've done lunch and dinner. And yes, there seemed to be more meat on the buffet at dinner.

But lunch is also wonderful. In fact, this trip we have lunch booked.

Personally, I'd make the reservation for 3:00. That's the lunch price and the band will play at 3:15. That will give you enough time to get seated, get your first plates of food and be back at your table when the band starts. You can then relax and enjoy the entire performance of the band and eat at a nice slow pace if you want.

A few notes about the buffet - the desserts are very good so I don't bother getting a full plate of real food when I first go up to the buffet. I take one plate for real food and a small plate for desserts. Why wait until you are stuffed to go back for desserts?

Also, tell your husband (and yourself if interested), that the big beers are the better bargain (my husband calculated this one trip) but they are big. If he (or you) cannot finish the big beer, just ask your server for a to go cup and they will happily provide you with one. When we do lunch here, I get a big beer and have the rest to go and will usually finish when Illuminations is starting.

Great tip!

great idea! i would never think of doing this at home... I can't wait to have the grapefruit beer there and am torn on being a piggy or not lol. if I can take half to go to sip around the world showcase that might sway me

Disnut8 sealed the deal for me! It will be worth it to dine there for the beer values alone.

Annual Pass and Disney Chase both get 10% off lunch or dinner. Somebody told me on another thread that it's dinner only, but I'm fairly sure it's both L&D.

The difference between L&D may be only sauerbraten.

Used to do dinner but now we always do a late lunch.
- Minimal difference to menu
- Band plays all day
- Lunch is cheaper
- We'd rather have more time to walk off all those good eats
- Love the food but honestly could just eat myself to death with the desserts

The price difference from lunch to dinner has to be justified some how....so yes, there are more meat options at lunch. I like to save some cash so I go for lunch. Food is great! Its a fun place! Love the communal tables as well as the band.

There is very little difference between dinner and lunch. It was only like one or two meat choices. We just went this past Saturday at 3 and I can confirm that AP discount is good for lunch pricing.

Biggest beer in WDW! It was bigger than my DHs head lol. He had plenty to take away with him when we were done.

We enjoy the buffet there, even my DS who doesn't eat a lot of "different" foods finds enough he enjoys - the meatalls are great, pretzel rolls and spaetzle are all great for the little ones. We've done lunch before, and we're doing dinner on our next trip. The band will be finished by the time we eat, but we're okay with that.

If you go during the holiday season, they do Christmas songs and dances. It's adorable, although the dance floor is all kids, so when adults try to actually go out and dance, it's a little bit of a mess lol.
