Wondering if anyone has pictures of their princesses from going to the boutique in DTD? I have an appointment for my daughter on her birthday for turning 5. Planning on the full package, but at $175 i am curious of the results and if it's worth it. i've read several good reviews but want to see some pictures. thanks!

We took our dds (ages 8 & 4) in Aug. 2006. They loved it. The attention they got both at the BBB and our dinner after at the GF (w/Cinderella, the Prince, Suzy and Perla) was wonderful. We just got the basic package which was all that we needed. We brought princess dresses from home and nail painting is just something we don't do (still a few issues with fingers in mouth). We took a ton of pictures and also had pictures taken by the Disney photographer on the photopass card.

I personally felt like the $175 was too much but felt like the price of the basic package was so well worth it.

I do not know how to post pictures here but if you do a search you will find some. On person did a video montage set to music that showed the whole experience.

Enjoy - this was definitely one of the highlights of our last trip

We did the basic package for the princess 'do just last week on dd's 5th birthday. She had the time of her life! I wouldn't bother with the nails though. We brought her own dress and accessories, and they provide the tiara comb. You can most certainly go in with your child. I took lots of pictures and so did a Photopass photographer.

When we were done, we went over to "Guest Relations" where we were able to do a photo shoot with a Photopass photographer, though I had not previously arranged this. I was also allowed to take my own picts. Although we were not obligated to purchase anything, they came out so well that I spent about $22 on a special package for BBB clients (1 8x10 and 2 more smaller picts in different poses.)

Once we were through, we went over to the Grand Floridian for her birthday dinner with Cinderella and friends. Oh, and the hair stayed in overnight and through the next day. I''d say it was worth the $35!

Definitely do it! DD says this was one of her favorite parts of our trip. :cloud9:princess: All of the picts from our shoot were on the Photopass card. Here is a link to our picts as well as one for good measure!

Here you go... We just did the basic package, brought the dress from home. DD had a ball and loved the attention she got.

Everyone can use the guest relations photo area and do not need to do the most expensive package to have the pictures taken. Plus if you get enough photos taken on your photopass you can purchase a CD, vs purchasing just the photos.

OMG too precious!! We'll be going to WDW in Oct with our kids who will be 2 and 4 then. WE want to take our DD (she'll be just turning 4) the BBB. I can't wait!!

Oh my gosh! The adorable photos of your daughters are making me want a little girl!!! :) (I guess I couldn't sneak my son in huh? He's only one. He wouldn't even know. LOL.)

I can see my kids enjoying the attention, and I would bring my own dress for sure (we have so many of them, all bought half or more off.) I brought them each a dress to wear on our last trip and it did make for some cute pictures.

We just got back and saw many a kids who went. The thing is I don't see my girls enjoying it all. They slick the girls hair and pull it back so tight. My girls would HATE that. They barely tolerate pony tails, barrettes or braids, then only for a short while. Gel in it would just push them over the edge. They also have pretty long hair and I saw so many girls with fancy extensions. I just didn't think the look they sported was all that cute (and looked uncomfortable.) They would be dying to go wash it out, and that also seems like a pain, especially with hotel showers with out extended shower heads. Anyone have problems with that? How did you handel it?

Does anyone know if that is the only option? Any one get a more comfortable hairdo? My DD wouldn't mind glitter on her face and her nails done though. They would eat up the attention I think. Then again they might just get shy and refuse to sit in the chair.

I also could not help seeing all the little girls and thinking about all the money the parents spent on them. I am cheap, I admit it. DH has worn off on me. :rotfl: We spend a lot on the girls I guess, but we stretch it out over many trips. Some people do just one and want to go all out, I understand that.

DisneyPhD - you know your kids the best on what they would like. Honestly I don't remember any other styles than the 3 they offered (Princess, Diva and Rockstar (hopefully not mixing that up with libby Lu)) and all required hair pulled back and lots of Gel. You could call style line to find out if they will do something else. (407-WDW-STYLE).

DisneyPhD, my DD hates to have anything done to her hair. She tolerates a barrette when we leave the house because I insist she wear one. However, she loved the attention at the BBB and only made one face when the FG was combing her hair.

My DD did not get the extensions. She has extremely thick hair and it was about mid-back when we went (after we got back, I cut it to shoulder-length).

I would call them and see if maybe they'll work with you. Or, you could take them to the barber shop at MK instead? Don't they do pixie dust there?

Here's my DD (we didn't do the $175 package though--I just took my own pics.):

Wow, fairestoneofal, that is one great picture. I love it. (all the pictures are very cute. :goodvibes )

So far my girls don't seem to be really aware of the whole thing, so I am going to wait until they ask (beg really) for it. ;) Then I will explain what the hair is like and see if they want it.

We always think about going to the mainstreet barber shop, but really we are always so busy we don't want to make the time for it. We haven't been to DTD in a while. We have AP and we always seem to spend our times in the parks, or at our resorts.

In a way it is good to hear all the people going and not getting the close to $200 deal. Good to know I am not the only cheap one out there.

Can anyone tell me how long this lasts. I plan to take my DD who is 6 when we go in November and just need to know how much time to allow.

Well, considering that they are usually behind, I would plan for at least an hour total. We checked in earlier than our appointment time and still waited 20 minutes passed the appointment time. The actual make-over is 15-20 minutes long.

But, if you are making ressies to eat somewhere, I'd allow yourself extra time. It's better to find yourself with extra time than to be rushed trying to make a ressie. We were able to go tour the Boardwalk and take pictures, go back to our room for the adults to spruce up and then to our ressies at 1900 Park Fare. I allowed for too much time, but I was wanting to take DD somewhere for pictures, so it worked out for me. There was a lady in line yelling at the CMs because she had not allowed enough time between her appointment and her dinner ressies. :sad2:

My DD is going to turn 6 while we are there and I was thinking about doing this for her, but I am nervous. She HATES :furious: having anything done to her hair, just getting a brush through it is torture, and it's only chin length! Has anyone else had a kid like this and how did they react to having their hair done? I really don't want to deal with her crying  during the whole thing, something she has been known to do during haircuts in the past. How about when their hair isn't that long? How do they get it all back to put it up? I have to say that I watched the video that was posted and though she adorable I didn't really like her hair. So if I decide it isn't a good choice for her, anyone have any good ideas of something else special I could do for her birthday:bday: that involves princesses princess: (aside from a character meal which we have covered)?

I agree, plan for at least 2 hours between your appointment and your reservations. While the session only takes 15 to 20 minutes, it is a shame to miss out on the photo gallary pictures that are free to take part of because they really do get some good shots. You can purchase them later because they are on your photopass. There were a lot of families there that rushed their girls into BBB and rushed them out to go make breakfast at Cindy's. We had the first appointment in the morning (9am) and we still were given a beeper, because not all the stylists were there yet. When we got to the entrance of BBB at 8:30am there was already a line of little girls.
We were probably on the bus heading to MK (actually Contemporary) by 10am.

fairestoneofall, OMG that pic is priceless!!!!!

We are dying to do this with DD when we go in Oct (1 month beofre she turns 4) but we also just discovered Libbly Lu at the mall yesterday! They have a $22 pacakge that I think we'll try first and see how she does. If she does well then we'll do the $45 one at BBB. We also have our own dresses for her that we bought for Halloween.

Lucky1,
Your daughter is lovely! What a beautiful shot! Where did you find the snow white gown? My daughter LOVES SNow WHite and we want toget her a gown before we head down in May. Originally, it was just for Princess breakfast but now I am convinced to do BBB!
Thanks!

My DD (5) HATES having anything done to her hair! However we did this on Halloween day (my dh let her buy the Sassy Tink outfit at the disney store right before we had her hair done). She left her hair that way for THREE days! I finally told her that she couldn't go swimming unless she let me take it out, I think she would have left it in for the whole rest of the trip!! She loved having her hair and nails done and all of the attention from her Fairy Godmonther's in training and she hates for me to do anything at home.

Here's a pciture of my dd when we went this past October. She has hair down to the middle of her back. She hates ponytails and everytime I brush it, but she loved this experience!

In fact my son(3) my MIL and myself also went ... here's a few more. We did it before going to MNSSHP.

If you are staying at a DIS resort, they will most likely do something for you if you ask...also, it might be fun to just go to the World of Disney store and get a princess costume, but if you did that, I'd try to do it before you go to the parks so she could wear the costume. I LOVED doing that when I was little. princess:
