Bibbidi-Bobbidi-BOO and a few Disney Dresses too!~ A Sept ’13 TR

I have determined that you can never, ever go wrong with a trip around Tomorrowland on the PeopleMover! :thumbsup2

How adorable are those Ariel dresses?!?! I am absolutely in love with the image of the CM's at Gran Fiesta Tour serenading you as you departed and returned. :lovestruc Gotta love that Disney magic!

I am totally with you on trips with the grandparents. While it can be fun for awhile, it's kind of better once you are on your own and don't have to worry about meeting up with people at a certain place or time. Every trip we have taken with our family, we have always built in days either before they arrived or after they left to be just our family for a few days. A trip to Disney can be exhausting enough, but a trip with a large group can definitely make that worse!

I usually do not post on trip reports - yes, yes I am a lurker. But I had to let you know how much I am enjoying your report.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful family and amazing vacation!

Just found your TR and I am really enjoying it! Your kiddos are so cute and I love their outfits! Especially the good fairy costumes, LOVE them!

We are going in Sept and your Tr is gettin me even more excited!
And going back this year, how fun!
Can't wait to read more!

:welcome: I'm so glad that you're here! And thanks for the kind words!

You will love going in September! Nothing beats the low crowds and (hopefully!) free dining!! We would be going back during September in a heartbeat if we didn't want to check out the Christmas party this next trip. :thumbsup2

I just found your TR and I am really enjoying it! Your family is beautiful! I am a designer, and as I'm reading this, I am recognizing so many of my designer friends things! :) Can't wait to read on!

:welcome: I'm so glad that you're enjoying my TR!

I had to check out your page to see if I have any of your work in my stash, since most of the time I buy resells and don't always know who designed the outfit. I don't, but I recognized a lot of your things! You have some amazing talent! I just absolutely love your Be Our Guest dress!

Now see there ya go. You arrive at a ride and the wait time is long so you grab a Fastpass. I'm going to miss that so much! Oh but wait, I do have this trusty FP+ for this other ride that has a 5 minute wait. :headache:

PEOPLEMOVER!!!!! You cannot go wrong with the Peoplemover.

:lovestruc the lizards. They are my official mascot of Florida.

Honestly, I don't know that there's a better restaurant for atmosphere than San Angel, other than maybe BOG.

Oh Man, I'd LOVE to see the Go Go's.

Having a FP+ for a nonexistent wait makes perfect sense, right? :rotfl2:

Donovan wanted one of those lizards as his "souvenir" so badly, haha!

Definitely going to have to try San Angel next trip. :thumbsup2

It would have been awesome to see the Go Gos. My in-laws caught a little of their show as they walked by the theater. We'll be back for the last weekend of F&W this year. Maybe we'll actually make it to an Eat to the Beat concert this time!

The food sounds delish!

Those Ariel dresses are awesome! Last night my daughter pointed at her Ariel doll's chest and said, "what is this?" I just told her sea shells! :)

Do you mind telling me what sort of fabric Jorie's Cinderella dress is made from? I've done one in satin, but I don't know if that's best in the park. Jorie's looks to have a little more structure than just straight cotton though. Thanks! :)

The food WAS delish! Everything that we tried was really good! I probably could have kept going and ordered something from each booth if we hadn't run out of time, haha.

"Sea Shells!" That's too funny! :rotfl2:

Jorie's Cinderella gown is made from a cotton fabric (something like Michael Miller fairy frost maybe?) The top is fully lined with the same type of fabric and the peplums are definitely filled with something stiffer than cotton, some kind of batting it feels like. The seamstress who made that dress is absolutely amazing! I almost choked when I heard the cost of her dresses but when they arrived, I completely understood. They were nicer than anything I had seen before. :thumbsup2

okay, I didn't write comments as I read, so I hope I remember everything lol!

Looks like things were a little on the tired side leaving MK, I do have to say, I'm not good at, nor do I really enjoy the buzz ride, I'm just horrible at it and the laser "noise" gets annoying after a while, hahaha!

The peoplemover though, always perfect, it's just always the right thing to do!!

Awwe, man, just LOOKING at those parade pictures I'm all "wow, old photos, old floats, old parade" and it hasn't even been closed that long. Luckliy though, the new one is looking GREAT (and they just had their first overnight rehearsal last night!! :faint: lol)

THAT'S where Sunset point is! bahahahaha, I knew it was one of the places I had been intriged about wedding wise but couldn't remember where it was…makes sense though!

LOVE the Ariel dresses, those are super cute!!

Awwe, someone definitely did need a nap!!

Awesome experience with the cm's in mexico!! Glad you were able to use the extra food credits too!

UGH food and wine!! I cannot WAIT! I got all excited again remembering they have food booths up for flower & garden and i'll actually be in Epcot this year for that! YUM!

Yes, we were all feeling tired as we were leaving MK. The constant go-go-go was catching up with all of us and we definitely all needed a rest.

LOVE the peoplemover! Who would have thought that such a simple ride could be SO fantastic!

CAN'T wait to see the new parade!!! :hyper:

Shortly after we were home from our trip, I saw a video of all of those palm trees at Sunset Point being knocked down. And all of these people were commenting on how they were so upset because they had gotten married there... so sad!

Oh you lucky duck! Getting to go to the Flower & Garden festival! So jealous! It's definitely on my list of "must-do's"

So I maaaay have mentioned that….. WE’RE GOING BACK TO DISNEY!!!! Yeeeeeeeah!!

It’s true…. I have a new ticker and some Mickey mail that came yesterday to prove it!

I love that they are using the “Incredibles” as their theme…. Because you know that it’s going to be an INCREDIBLE vacation!

I was going to have a fun little guessing game at the end of this TR announcing all of the details…. but I’m just too excited and I can’t wait that long! And who knows if this TR will even get finished before our next trip. I hope so… but it sure does seem to be taking forever, haha!

So here ya go!

WHO? Just the 6 of us…. no parents this time. There will definitely be some positives and some negatives to this….

WHAT? A 1-bedroom Villa! The room at the Poly was AMAZING but by the end of the trip we realized that we definitely needed to stay somewhere with more room!

WHERE? The plan had been to stay at Bay Lake Tower in a standard view for the whole trip… but when the standard views were not available, we had to go to plan B. A split-stay!

And the resorts are…

and

Bay Lake Tower ~ Lake View

WHEN? November 6-10th at AKV and November 10th-13th at BLT

I am SO excited to be going back. Our last trip was supposed to be a "once-in-a-Looooong-time" trip.... but there is no way that I can stay away! So after much determination (and picking up a ton of extra shifts at work.) I'm happy to say that we're going HOME again!!!

I’m hoping this next trip will be a little less “Go, go, go!” and a little more relaxed… but who are we kidding? In my head, I already have the trip jam packed! Actually I’m secretly (or not so secretly) hoping to tack on another day to the end of the trip because I have so much that I want to fit in. lol

Very nice! We will be there the same time.

I am a new reader, it's taken a few days but I'm caught up. I love your tr. The kids are adorable and the outfits fantastic. I am a Fan of customs as we'll I make outfits for every day of the trip, sometimes 2 or 3.

Thanks, Rachel! I just ordered some fairy frost fabric to use. :) I can only hope it turns out as nice as Jorie's. I'm thinking of adding a shirred panel to the back instead of a zipper, but I don't know yet. I'm certain I'm crazy as I now have an outfit to make for every day of our trip except our final morning. I enjoy it though!

By the way, we're staying at BLT on our trip. How exciting for your next trip to stay there!

Hi, new subscriber! I actually found your TR over the weekend and read it start to finish, glad to see some new updates today! I have a 6 year old dd and I always love finding a new TR featuring kids her age :) Your children are beautiful, by the way :goodvibes

Do you mind sharing the designer of your girls' Little Mermaid dresses (with the shell bikini tops) that they were wearing for your F&W night at Epcot? I have loved looking at all of their outfits, but these take the cake (so far)! Thanks!

:welcome: So happy that you're here!

Aww, thanks! MommyMade Boutique (on Facebook) made those Ariel dresses for us. I discovered that the owner and I share the same last name which is pretty neat! (no relation though, that we know of) I actually helped design those dresses and I think they turned out really cute.

I should have read to the end of your update, because I have something else I wanted to comment on...and actually I meant to comment on this very topic when I was doing my massive "catch up" over the weekend:
Big extended family trips vs immediate family trips.
There are so many pros and cons! Our first trip (2011) was just me, dh and dd (3 at the time). It was so much fun and so the next year, our moms both came along as well as a friend of ours. This added different types of fun but also different stresses. We actually all shared a 2BR villa so there were no meet up times, but a lot of waiting for everyone to be ready. It's hard to get 6 people out the door at once (wait, you are a family of 6, who am I telling? ha!). But my point is that it's easier to get yourselves and your own child(ren) out the door vs coordinating other people as well. The two big pluses are pretty obvious: sharing a wonderful vacation with even more loved ones (seeing Disney through your kids eyes is great, seeing Disney through your parents eyes as they watch their grandchildren is another level of magic!), and built in babysitting! It's just nice to have an extra set of hands along! My mom would often take my dd back to the room at night when they were both getting tired, and it left the younger set of adults free to roam the parks for a couple extra hours.

You will love your immediate family only trip! It's a whole different world. Your schedule, your preferences, no worries about making sure everyone is having fun. :)

Your pros and cons are right on! And yes, I'm really looking forward to our "Us-only" trip.

Out of the blue, my Mother-in-law informs us at Jorie’s birthday party in February, that she is thinking about joining us on our trip in November. (Inside I was like “Oh HE** NO you’re NOT!” lol) I was literally speechless. Later I told Joe that if the subject comes up again, he needs to figure out a polite way of saying “You weren't invited.”

How was the 2-bedroom villa at Old Key West? I foresee us staying there once Bronwyn is no longer an "infant" and we are an official family of 6 in Disney's eyes....

Love, love, love the Peoplemover!! Disney perfection!!!

I just love those Ariel dresses too. I was a little bummed that the girls didn't spend more time in them. I'm thinking of seeing if I can get another one made for Bronwyn for our next trip. Jorie's and Isla's were a little big so they should still fit. I think meeting Ariel in her grotto while wearing those dresses would be perfect!! :lovestruc

Having grandparents from both sides along at the same time was hard. I felt like there was always that tiny bit of competition for the kids' attention. Plus my mom and Joe's parents have two very different versions of grandparenting. My mom tends to be very hands-off... as in no help at all unless I ask her to do something. And my in-laws want to do EVERYTHING for the kids. So yes, I totally agree that having family along is "extra" exhausting. ::yes:: I was so thankful to have a few days at the end of our trip to ourselves.

I usually do not post on trip reports - yes, yes I am a lurker. But I had to let you know how much I am enjoying your report.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful family and amazing vacation!

:welcome: Thank you for the sweet comment. I'm glad that you're enjoying my TR. And Yay for coming out of “Lurkdom!” I was/am a lurker too. I never used to comment on trip reports either. I have gotten much better since starting my own TR and seeing how excited I get when someone comments on it. It's definitely a motivator to keep writing.

I caught up again.:) I love looking at all the pictures!

Yay, thank you!!! :cheer2:

Very nice! We will be there the same time.

Oh awesome! I've read your TR (and really enjoyed it! I was bummed when the updates stopped) I would love it if we bumped into each other! Will V be along with you?

I am a new reader, it's taken a few days but I'm caught up. I love your tr. The kids are adorable and the outfits fantastic. I am a Fan of customs as we'll I make outfits for every day of the trip, sometimes 2 or 3.

:welcome: So glad that you love my TR... and that you don't think I'm crazy for changing my kids' outfits 3 times a day!! haha :rotfl:

That's awesome! I can't wait to hear how it turns out! A shirred back panel sounds like a great idea. We have a few dresses & tops with a shirred back and they always seems to fit really nicely. :thumbsup2

You are crazy! haha, but it will be TOTALLY worth all of your hard work!!

I was just looking at pics of the rooms/views from BTL and they are just MAGICAL!! pixiedust: That's so exciting that you will be there in 2 MONTHS..... so excited for you!!!

Quoting is a pain on the iPad so no quotes here.

Aha I ew I recognized your user name! Yes the tr just stopped. I really meant well. I havent done one from our trip August 2013 yet, I am hoping if I write the whole things over March break I will get it done. She had so many cute outfits to share. I don't have any notes so it's all memory. So many things to do, so little time to do it in.

Day #7
Tuesday, October 1, 2013

So our night before in Epcot had come and gone so quickly that I hadn't even realized while we were there that we wouldn't be coming back! I was feeling pretty sad about it because there were a few things that we hadn’t gotten to do…. Test Track, pick-a-pearl in Japan, exploring World Showcase…. and School Bread!!! I think at some point that morning when I had finally realized it, I had cried out loud "OMG! We're not going back to Epcot and we didn't try SCHOOL BREAD!" I'm pretty sure Joe & the kids thought that I was nuts .... but I was REALLY sad that I had missed out on trying School Bread. The wheels were already turning in my head to see if we could fit in another visit to Epcot…

We didn’t have plans to attend a park this day (but we happened to have park tickets for this day as a “just in case” for bad weather, etc.)….Will we use that extra park ticket? You’ll have to wait and see!!

This day was going to be our “relaxing” resort day. Ya know, so we could rest & recuperate after 6 nonstop days in the parks. Bwahahaha, that’s pretty funny. Can people really relax in Disney? Actually it ends up being more of a stuff-your-face-FOOD-filled day, oh you’ll see….

We had a reservation at 9:30 for ‘Ohana’s Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. Once again, it was so nice to be able to walk right over to the Great Ceremonial House. Hooray for staying at the Poly. No need to worry about taking a bus, monorail, or boat!

We checked in and they showed us where we could have our PP pics taken….in front of such a cute Tiki background.

‘Ohana Family pic … Take 1

As you can see, Isla was not going to cooperate for a photo. The photographer told us that we could try again after breakfast if we’d like.

We had practically no wait, and soon after our photo, we were led to our table…. And oh my goodness, did we luck out! I think we had the best table in the restaurant! It was a large round corner table, right along the windows with a view of Cinderella Castle. Awesome!

The next pics aren’t great but you get an idea of the view. Just beautiful!

Our waiter was Chaidan and he was fantastic. He really took good care of us and made sure our juice glasses were kept full the entire meal- we definitely love that POG juice!

We were told that the word " 'Ohana" means "family" in Hawaiian (which any Lilo & Stitch fan already knows), and the meal would be served family-style. I was so thankful not to have to run up and down to a buffet filling up plates with the kids. It was really nice that everything was brought right to our table.

First off we were given a basket of sweet breads and a platter of fresh, cut-up fruit with a yummy strawberry dipping sauce. Next a large platter of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and biscuits was brought to the table.

My plate looked something like this:

I am not usually a big breakfast fan but I was sure starting to LOVE it on this trip!

We were assured that if we started to run out of anything, that they would bring us more. And they sure did! - we didn't even have to ask. And waiters were constantly coming around offering us hot freshly-made Mickey Waffles. Oh they were the BEST!

Isla was loving the maraca that the hostess had given her! She wouldn’t even put it down while she ate. Thank goodness for a distraction to her grumpy mood!

The first character to visit our table was Stitch. He really got a kick out of Donovan’s shirt!

Some tickles for Jorie... and yes, her hair is STILL up from the BBB.

I wondered how Bronwyn would react to him …. But she went right up to him and sat on his lap!

Isla did not like Stitch, so she stayed put in her seat.

Next up was Lilo!

Loved her reaction to Jorie.

continued in next post

Then it was time for the character parade.
Lilo took Bronwyn’s hand and led her around the restaurant while the rest of the kids followed and shook maracas to a “Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride.”

Love Lilo’s feet & flip flops!

Then back at our table it was time for Pluto to visit.

Donovan loves Pluto and gave him a big hug.

Last but not least was MICKEY!!

Jorie was giving Mickey a kiss on the cheek. ewww! I wonder how many other people have kissed that same spot. :crazy2:

The whole Hawaiian theme of the restaurant is fantastic. Overall I LOVED this breakfast. I’m pretty sure that it was my favorite Character meal of the trip!

‘Ohana Family Pic ~ Take 2

Now that one’s much better! Give Isla some characters & some food and she becomes one happy girl!

We saw that the pin board was out at Trader Jacks... so we stopped over for some pin trading. And while we were there, we picked up some really cute antenna toppers for our SUV (and when we got home we realized that our Yukon doesn’t have an antenna! Lol)

Then we headed back to our room to decide what to do next…

continued in next post

So, what next? Should we SWIM or SHOP?

Donovan knew that there was a Lego store in Downtown Disney and was super excited to check it out…. so his choice was to shop! (Haha That was a first!!) So we all changed out of our Lilo & Stitch clothes and then headed to the Poly bus stop.

We watched a monorail go by.

AND THEN.... when we were standing there waiting for a bus, there was a Magical Express Bus that was approaching and who was on it?
Joe’s Parents!! What are the chances of that?! We saw them waving to us as they drove by.

And then pretty soon we were on our own bus and heading to DOWNTOWN DISNEY!

Jorie had just starting taking Irish Dance in September… so I was so excited to see this sign!

Our first stop…

Everyone picked a treat.

Next stop…

We found what we were looking for.

Each of the kids had a vinylmation that they wanted to trade in the Mystery Box.

Then we decided to check out…

Then we started thinking about lunch. Yes, it probably seems like we JUST had breakfast but I promise that there was some time between the two, haha.

NEXT

So where should we eat?

I had heard such good things about both so I really couldn’t decide….

So why not BOTH? Told ya that this day was full of food!

I hung out with the kids at an outside table while Joe ran in and ordered sandwiches from EOS “to-go.”

Apparently Bronwyn was having a staring contest with her new Animator doll. My bets are on Ariel.

Then we went over to WPE and found a seat inside. Joe went up to order while I started the kids out with the sandwiches. I totally have never brought food from another restaurant into a restaurant before and I kind of felt a little bad about it… but hey, it worked by keeping the kids quiet while we waited, so no one seemed to care.

I don’t have any pics of the EOS sandwiches but if I remember right, I think we had ordered two

Cannonballs!
Meatballs, mozzarella, Parmesan & marinara sauce
with sides of Jello & Chocolate Milk.
The kids really enjoyed them!

From WPE, we ordered:

Macaroni & Cheese

And Bacon-wrapped Meatloaf

with Mashed Potatoes, Port Wine Sauce, and Crispy Onion Rings

Joe also ordered a Barbecued Chicken Pizza with grilled red onions, cilantro, roasted tomatoes, and smoky barbecue sauce.

Being on the dining plan, we could pick 3 sides to go along with our entrees. We chose a fruit cup which the kids shared, a Crème Brulee which I devoured, and a frozen yogurt.

When our server came around to check on us (yes, a server delivered the food to our table and later came around to check on us and it’s considered a counter service restaurant!! SO nice!) and she asked if we were ready for the frozen yogurt…she brought back a cup of frozen yogurt for EACH of us! Talk about pixie dust! The kids were thrilled because they were expecting to have to share one. OMG, we were so full by the end of the meal! I'm pretty sure we all rolled out of the restaurant.

Wolfgang Puck Express is an awesome value for a counter service restaurant! HUGE portion sizes and the food is AH-MAZ-ING!!!! I’m actually drooling a little right now thinking about the mac & cheese. It was THAT good!

And we finally made it to the LEGO store!

Donovan was in awe!

We also checked out the World of Disney, Disney’s Days of Christmas, Trend-D, and D-Street. We had only brought one double stroller along with us and when the kids started fighting over who got to sit in it, we knew that was our signal to head back to the resort.

So then we headed to the bus stop and back to the Poly for a little swimming.

Wow what a lot of updates, and I've loved reading them:thumbsup2!
Looks like you had a lovely experience at O'hana's! The interaction with the characters seemed an adorable experience
I know what you mean, I wonder how many children have kissed the cheeks of the characters especially Mickey!
In your first O'hana photo I just love Bronwyn's face and that she was lead round the restaurant by Lilo is just sooo cute!:goodvibes
All the different but matching outfits are so sweet :goodvibes

Haha, yes you can relax in Disney Rachel... but I wouldn't recommend it.

Awww poor Isla. She just never catches a break when it comes to photos.

How positively wonderful that one of your kids got the extra special treatment for the parade. I bet the outfits really helped, which are all wonderful by the way!

I am so overjoyed to see your kids excitement for Mickey. I just hate that he's getting so overlooked in the parks (if wait times are any indication), so this made me smile.

Aw man see I want a Disney antennae topper so bad, but do cars even HAVE antennas anymore????

WPE is high on my list of to dos, that's for sure. I never even made to DTD last trip, so that's the only reason it didn't happen... yet. Nothing but raves about this place.

You are so sweet! Thank you!

We had a wonderful time at Ohana. Since we've been back, that is one of the character meals that I most recommend to my friends. We really loved everything about the meal.

Bronwyn does make some great faces! I love when I can catch some of the silly ones on camera. :p

Sometimes is hard to get all three girls to match... so the coordinating outfits seem to work too :)

Yeah I don't think that I'll ever be able to relax in Disney... there will always be something that I'll "need" to be doing! :hyper:

I know, right? If it isn't Mom always wanting her to smile for the camera, it's those darn PP photographers. Poor Isla. :rotfl:

Everyone kept commenting on all of my Lilos! The characters sure loved that the kids dressed for the occasion.

My kids DO love Mickey... especially Isla! :mickeyjum

Joe's work truck actually has an antenna! So he's been driving around with a green Mike W. :lmao: I gave the others that we had bought to my mom because her car happens to have one too.

WPE sure stood up to all of the hype. If you make it to DTD next trip, you should definitely give it a try.

Looks like a pretty awesome relaxing day!!

Ohana is someplace I really want to go back for breakfast, heck also for dinner! Haven't been in a while and I really want to experience it again! Glad you guys enjoyed it, and that Lilo liked the dresses, and that the kiddos all were loving it afterwards.

Hahahha, of course the boy wants to shop when there's LEGO involved! Lol.

Good haul at dtd!

And lunch, yum!! I ate at EOS for the first time last month and loved it, but it will always be a tough choice between in and wpe!!

Your O'hana breakfast looks and sounded amazing. The food looks so good and you can't go wrong with unlimited Mickey waffles.

I love the Stitch pictures all of the kids look so cute!

I haven't ventured to DTD in awhile but I may have too just to go to EOS and Wolfgang puck again, that food is SO good!

Oh man, I sure do get a good laugh when I see photos of your happy smiling family...and Isla having a meltdown. Kids!! What can ya do when they don't want to take a picture?? You take it anyway and laugh about it later!! :rotfl: I'm glad y'all were able to go back and take another one with her in a better mood, because those girls sure do look adorable in their Lilo dresses.

I love the pictures of Bronwyn sitting on Stitch's lap and Donovan hidden in a hug from Pluto! And Jorie's princess style still looks fabulous! It looks like those buns can last through a nuclear apocalypse!

Great idea getting food from EOS & WPE! I always have the same dilemma and usually default to ESO, I have never thought to get both! Genius.
