Planning a Sept. trip to DLR with our DS's. When we go, the older will be 5 and the younger mere days away from turning 3. Really want to take them to BBB for the Knight's Package but guests have to be 3 so the little one won't technically be old enough. If we can't take them both, we won't go because I can already see (and hear) the absolute FIT there would be if he was excluded and big brother came out with a shield and wielding a sword!

My question is whether or not they ask for ages when you book or ask to see tickets. The younger is verbal enough to pass for 3 no prob (conversely I don't know whether that will create issues at the gate...).

Has anyone else had experience with this? Thanks in advance for your feedback! :goodvibes

I did this last year with dd. it was a week before she turned 3. When I booked on the phone they asked and I told them 3 and that was it. No questions when we showed up etc. I think they may have made conversation with dd and asked how old and she said 2 and I said oh she just turned 3 on her bday

Just like PP stated...If you tell them he is 3, they are not going to check or require any proof.
I think since it is so close to his birthday, you should take them both. Have fun!

My DD was a week from being 3 when we got it done. They didn't ask or care when we showed up for our appointment.

We just said she was three on the phone and that was that.

I was worried that we were going to have issues afterwards because we went to the princess lunch at Ariels and she hardly eats anything so I really didn't want to have to buy her a plate but there were no problems anywhere along the way.

The knights package is really cute and you should totally take them both.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to respond to my query. I really appreciate it! You've put my mind at ease and we're definitely going to take both boys to BBB! Can't wait and already excited about the photo-op, lol. :)

Another one here who took a little one before technically being 3. We went a few weeks before her birthday and never had an issue. The reason for the age limit, just for clarity sake, is because the products are not approved for under 3. It's a lawsuit thing, like most stuff :thumbsup2

So, as long as you lie and say your kid is 3 it's OK? There's no repercussion if there's a problem with the products?

hmmmmm..

As a FWIW, the sword and shield can be bought right outside BBB. They are the foam Prince Phillip items, unless they are *also* offering the long, hard, plastic shiny sword (but it's still the foam shield). In THAT case, make SURE you can take that thing home with you...our suitcases weren't long enough for it, and we were incredibly lucky to find an LAX TSA agent who allowed it on the plane; otherwise it would have been left at the airport.

My son was 4 and spiking his hair up (I thought it was short enough, but it wasn't) took AGES; he barely had the patience for it then. He wouldn't have had the patience at 2 or probably even 3.

I, personally, would plan your trip (since it's in the planning stages I'd just change the dates a bit) to BE there during his birthday. If you have a package that started while he was still 2 he won't suddenly need a ticket, BUT he'll be "legally" allowed to take part in BBB.

I guess if someone lies and there is a problem with the products they can either handle it privately without notifying Disney, or try to sue Disney and lose their case AND look like an idiot for being a liar.:lmao:

but if the products were really truly bad for under 3 and anything proven....they would be a lot more strict on checking for proof of age....

Frankly, I don't have an issue being a liar in this particular situation (as it's a very tiny white lie for the obtainment of sparkles and foam weaponry to secure the happiness of a small child, after all... surely the good Lord will overlook it?).

However, I have a very low tolerance for idiots and make a concerted effort to avoid being one of THOSE at all costs. I vow that if my child should suffer illness, injury, or reproductive harm as a result of my decision to expose him to the substances found within BBB two weeks ahead of turning the magic number 3, I won't sue DLR. I swear it.

It's probably one of those CA things, like how there's warnings on EVERYTHING because it contains stuff containing blah, blah, blah known in the state of CA to cause blah, blah, blah. If THAT'S all it is, no big deal.

Re: the advice about hair being slightly too long to spike... This is good to know since my little one has longer hair. He's gonna need a "big boy" haircut before we go! :goodvibes

Thanks again for all your feedback. I knew I could count on you!! :thumbsup2

I didn't say that! And in my case, which I can only speak to, I knew for a fact my daughter didn't react to the products they use because we had them at home. Plus, even if she did I would have known it was my fault since she was technically not 3.

I agree with you 100%. You got your answer, they won't check. So have a great trip and don't worry what other people think. You are the parent and its your decision to decide what you feel is safe/approiate/etc. for your kids.

I think the age thing is more about the toys than the products. Tiny hair clips and stickers and boy's shields and swords are probably age 3 and up. They just have to be able to say they asked if they were 3 before they gave them the toys in the package.

I would have no problem taking an almost 3 yr old there. Have a magical time:wizard:

My post was made as a joke in response to the question asked by the poster I quoted. I could care less what people do with regards to lying about their kid's age. It's none of my business. :goodvibes As for Disney checking closer, they have always relied on their guests being honest when asked, and I don't see that changing. As I said before, it would be easily proven that someone lied about the age if they ever tried to sue. Disney is covered legally without having to require proof of age. It is up to the parent to decide if they want to take the risk to enjoy the reward.:goodvibes

We never got asked for an age. Dd was 3 and a very little 3 and no very verbal. No questions asked
