BFFs & Birthday Surprises! A "Girls Only" TR *Completed 3/13*

I left off with our group having finished our day at AK… and how Heather and I were going to tell Mom and Helen about their surprise.

We had birthday cards for each of them, with their La Nouba tickets inside… instead of giving the cards during dinner, we went ahead and gave them when we got to the car. Mom and Helen were speechless! I wish Heather or I had thought to grab a camera to capture the look on their faces.

So our new plan was to head over to DTD and grab dinner… Heather and I would entertain ourselves with some shopping while Mom and Helen went to La Nouba. On the drive over to DTD, I called to change our Boma ADR from dinner to breakfast the next morning. Thankfully, it was no problem to do so.

We made it over to DTD and went straight to EofS, as by this time we were all pretty hungry. I debated on trying a different sandwich, but in the end I went with the Italian again… it was just too good to pass up.

After dinner, we all made our way to the boat launch that would take Mom and Helen over to the West Side of DTD. A boat was just ready to leave, so they didn't have to wait at all. Heather and I then walked back over to World of Disney to begin our shopping. We started there and made our way back to the boat launch, stopping in just about every store there was! We even took a break at Ghiradelli's for a yummy snack.

While we were shopping, Mom sent a text to let us know they had great seats and were loving the show!

I don't know what time it was when Mom and Helen made it back over to the Marketplace… but I do know we were all so very tired. It was back to the condo to pack and get ready to leave for home in the morning… after breakfast at Boma, that is!

Friday morning came earlier than any of us wanted it to… I know I wasn't the only one who wished for a few more hours of sleep! Alas, we had a 10-hour drive ahead of us, and had to get up and go.

Helen went down to the front office to handle the check-out, while the rest of us got our bags ready to go and tidied up the condo. I'm not sure what time we left the condo, but we arrived at AKL right before 10:15, which was the time of our ADR. Helen pulled up to the front entrance so I could jump out and run down to Boma to check us in. I just had to wait for the others to park the car and make their way into the resort and down to the restaurant… as soon as Mom, Helen, and Heather came downstairs it was time for us to be seated.

The restaurant wasn't busy at all. I had been to Boma twice before (for dinner) but had never seen the place so empty. I don't know if it was just because we had a relatively late-ish breakfast and everyone else was already at the parks, or if it was just due to low crowds everywhere.

I don't have any photos of our breakfast… again, we were still tired and the food was pretty much your standard breakfast fare: waffles, pancakes, bacon, omelets made to order, fresh fruit, scones, bagels, scrambled eggs. Plenty of variety! And I'm not a big juice-drinker, but the Jambo Juice was delicious!

After breakfast we stopped in the resort's gift shop to look around a bit and grab some last-minute souvenirs. Then, sadly, it was time to get back in the car and head home.

This was such a great trip! I'll admit it felt weird (at first) to be at WDW without my kids. But it was a whole different experience being there with just "the girls"! I loved every minute of our trip… well, except for the times when it rained! That was a bit of a bummer. But overall, my "Girls Only" trip was fabulous and I can't wait to do it again!

Thanks for following along on my TR. I might even write another one sometime (hopefully it won't take me quite so long to finish!)… of course, that means I'll need another trip to WDW. Maybe that will be sooner, rather than later!

i just caught up. thanks for the TOC by the way. I'm still insanely jealous of your adults only trip. while i enjoy going with my kiddos, yours sounds like a heavenly escape i must do sometime. i love how your mom was so gung-ho about the characters. can you remind me about the condo? where it was and the cost? if you said it i'm sorry, i just skipped through the comments.

I don't know what the cost of the condo was... Helen has a timeshare, so we used that. If you google "bluegreen fountains orlando" it should be the first thing to come up!

And I just noticed you have a new PTR... going now to check it out! :thumbsup2
