Beware the deadly DCL DVD!!!

Okay, I'm not one to create alarm unnecessarily, but it must be said. Got my "DVD" (see, already it sounds bad, doesn't it?) last week, and I thought I could handle it. I started out slow, maybe once a day for the first two days.
But no. Within days, I was dragging the kids into my dirty little habit. "Come on, just watch the part about the kids' clubs again" I'd say with a desperate smile. As their friends waited impatiently outside, I scanned their faces for signs of excitement. Weary after the third time, they finally refused. Rotten kids!
So now I'm bootin' up once a day, if not more. Last night, I put it on at 2:00 am after we watched "The Village" and it worked its magic. Not that I NEED it to get me in the mood, you understand, but replaying the Palo's part really does the trick. I mean, c'mon, when they show the creme brulee being set on the table, there's no going back.
So here's my question: How do I stop this madness? If I watch one more 360 degree shot of a stateroom that isn't even mine, I may have to join a 12-step program. My trip isn't until November!
Gotta go - I need it bad ... Melissa

:rotfl: :rotfl: i can understand and sympathize!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I ordered my DVD, got it in the mail, and misplaced it before I even broke the seal!!!! No idea where it is, and too embarassed to ask them to send me another one...

Okay I laughed like there is no tomorrow. I woke up this morning after having dreamt all night about Disney Cruising. I take my 3rd this September. I was never like this before with the other cruises. I guess I really need a dose of Disney right now. Keep on watching if it makes you happy. Enjoy.

How FUNNY! THis sounds so like me. I just want my kids to get the fever. I mean, they are happy we're going, but they just have that emotional fervor that I want them have :earboy2:

Is it too much to expect them to look at Cruise/WDW pics on the DIS for 5 hours straight? I don't THINK so! :teeth:

Lori P. :)

You convinced me. I went on line and ordered a planning DVD. :cool1:

We don't plan to cruise for a few years, we go to WDW in just 4 days (and again 8 weeks after that!)

But I am so looking forward to going for the 1st time. 2007 here we come! :goodvibes

Join the Club...I have been additcted to DCL since day one back in July of '98!!!! I go through physical withdrawal symptoms each time I leave the ship....if I do not have a cruise planned I am one unhappy woman to be around!!! I actually stalk people in malls if I happen to see they have some sort of DCL apparel/merchandise on, or if I hear people somewhere discussing DCL I have to hop into the conversation and share the knowledge.....I get funny looks but most people are appreciative!!! I tell anyone who will listen about how the great the DIS is as well!!!

You sound like me. I was going to wait to tell them about the cruise until a couple weeks before, but what good is it to surprise the kids with our vacation plans when they have no idea what there is to be excited about.

I showed them the dvd, and when I'm on line, I show them people's cruise pictures. I'm saving some surprises, though. I haven't yet told them about the unlimited ice cream and pizza.

I'm beginning to think there are degrees of DCL sickness. For example, you know you have it bad when ... you have the menus out and you pretend you're ordering dinner. "Hmm. What will I have tonight? Maybe the salad AND the shrimp appetizer, and maybe just the soup before the pork tenderloin." All this while you SHOULD be in the kitchen making dinner because it's 6:30 on a school night and you "accidentally" sat down and logged on to the Disboards for one more time (yeah, right) that night, and found yourself dreaming yet again. I've actually made my son wait to do research for a project he was working on because I hadn't checked the boards for a while (read: five hours) and wanted to see if there were any new trip reports posted. Although I never knew I had an addictive personality, apparently I do. I have visions of me as Mickey, wandering aimlessly through an alley somewhere with dirty, torn white gloves, looking for a fix. Someone report me. :) Melissa

:rotfl: Not only is the DVD addictive, so is this site. Recently, I moved the laptop to the kitchen and I must have burned two different dinners this week! I get so involved - reading the trip reports, etc.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to post their trip reports! I thank you, however, my family may not be too excited about the effect "the dis" has on my cooking. :)

Those of you who do this with the DVD are lower than scum.

I use the VCR. :rotfl2:

I, too, check the boards several times per day...sometimes I even sneak down here (where the computer is) when family thinks I'm doing laundry as if I need to hide my habit! My kids are starting to come around, though! I love when they ask to see pictures of the boat we are going to sail on or another view of the Mickey Pool. I wish DH took more of an interest!
I even booked a second cruise before taking the first one...I've become addicted to just the idea of cruising, how will I handle the actual trip?
You all are like enablers and a support system all in one!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
This is me too! I am on several times a day just to see if there is anything new. I even read the threads that have nothing to do with my trip at all. Whenever I hear DH coming I quickly close the boards so he doesn't know how much time I am really on here. I've got it bad! :disrocks:

I couldnt remember what happened to mine so i just ordered another one. Oh no it starts again :sad2:

:Pinkbounc I just ordered my new one. I figured since I am not crusing untill July 2006 this will help me get throught it. I hope! :jumping1: :boat:

:rotfl2:  I love reading everyone's stories here, nothing like this has "EVER" happened to me............yea, right!!! :rotfl2:

What's that I hear my wife screaming from the other room, "Liar, liar, pants on fire." :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

:rotfl: I feel your pain...uh, I mean enthusiasm. I loved reading all your posts. We just received the dvd last week and haven't watched it yet.

:cheer2:
LisafromSJ: Oh, how I can relate all to well to your story as that will be my kids...probably in a few days. Your post made my day. We're cruising on the Feb. 2006 with some family and I sure they think I'm nuts after I sent them some of the menus and navigators I printed out. They planned it and I wasn't sure I wanted to to the Disney Cruise again (although the first two were great). Then all of a sudden I visited the cruise boards, booked the cruise and couldn't stop reading.... Oh well, it could be something worse, right?

Good night all - gotta go watch my dvd!
