On a website which deals in used Disney merchandise we purchased 3 used Disney Hotel wall mounted hair dryers for $4.95 each + shipping.
When the items arrived we found that we had been sent different hair dryers than were pictured on the website and the wall mounting brackets were missing. We contacted the seller and he responded that they do not receive the brackets when they purchase them, and basically 'tough luck'.
These are proprietary brackets and are necessary part of the dryer assembly as no other provision is available for mounting other than gluing them to the wall. (Brackets come with the dryers when purchased new, not an extra or an option.)
When disputing the purchase with Paypal they responded that since the purchase was not within Ebay but a private website they do not intervene as long a product has been received, even if it is the wrong product as they have no control over the website content. Understandable.
I have been refunded my money as a courtesy from my Credit Card company.
As a business owner myself, I'm usually knowledgeable enough to avoid scams, but this one got by me. Hope this info. gets people thinking and prevents problems for others.
Website not disclosed as I think it is against DISboard policy but we did find the website originally in a Sig file here on Disboards. If anyone needs further information, I'd be happy to help them out as long is does not violate policy.
