Ruth's Chris is notorious for being expensive. But of course people pay for the better cuts of beef, the well-prepared side dishes and the atmosphere.
Consider that a strip costs about $8.00 a pound at Target of all places. By the time you vastly improve the quality of the meat, add in the preparation and the nice ambience and (usually) good service, you've of course greatly increased the cost of the meal. Then the restaurant itself adds in its own overhead and profit and you've got an expensive meal.
