Beware of Congo River Minigolf!

Had a few hours to kill before our flight today so we went to Congo river mini golf. Paid $30 for three people to golf, and paid $20 for my kids ($10 each) for the ultimate safari ( basketball, holding alligator, feeding turtles and feeding alligators). The golf course is OK, not great. But the ultimate safari is a rip off! The basketball is an open court with no restrictions so people who hadn't paid kept trying to take my kids' balls and I had to keep them away. Then the turtle "feed" was a small bag with about 10 pellets of food. Probably is there are no turtles in the pond. All I saw was algae and about a million turtle food pellets floating on the surface. Then the alligator feed was half a cut up hot dogs. The alligators are all asleep, and my kids just ended up chucking the hot dogs at them. When I complained to the front desk, I was told that it's the season, that it's too cold for the alligators to be up eating. So I said why did you sell me the package then!!!
Save your money and learn from my mistake!

I am sorry to hear you had a less than favourable experience . Our visits to Congo River (and there have been several!) have all been very, very positive....in fact, its our go-to course for mini golf when we're in Orlando .

We have always found the golf courses themselves to be in excellent shape, well themed, and a nice balance of challenging but fun. Your price of $10 pp for golfing is very much the norm among the nicer courses in Orlando (Congo River, Pirates Cove, etc.). There are always coupons widely available as well (printable online, in the many tourist publications distributed in the area, etc.) so you can easily knock another $1 or two off each person's cost.

I have seen the basketball area at the I-Drive location (they don't have one at the Kissimmee location) but have never tried it. If there was an issue with someone stealing my children's balls, you can bet your boots that I would have gone to the desk to explain what was occurring and ask for staff intervention. Not a complaint, just a "Could you help me please? There are some unruly guests in the basketball area who are trying to take my kids' balls, and it would be great if you would come speak to them for me".

I have never even seen the turtle feeding area , so I can't comment there. We *have* fed the koi fish and there are hundreds of them! A few pellets in the water and its a huge feeding frenzy (and the pellets are 25 cents for a small handful, so very reasonable). Its fun to watch, and we always end up using every quarter in our pockets to feed the fish!

"Alligator food" has been cut-up hot dog wieners everywhere we have ever visited in Orlando.....that's even what Gatorland gives you for feeding them. That seems to be pretty standard and something to be expected. As for the gators being uninterested.....that's disappointing for sure (the gators are the reason we prefer Congo River over the competitor courses). But we have experienced similar reactions in the extreme heat, when they're just not as interested in coming out for a snack when they can keep themselves cool in the water. They are definitely temperature-reactive animals.
