Just got back from a seven day trip and wanted to say that there were love bugs everywhere. We went from 9/29-10/1 last week.

I do have to say there were definitely much more during the firtst days of our trip but they were still around during our last day.

I understand from the cast members that the Love Bugs are full of acid and will ruin your car's paint if left there for awhile. As we walked through the parking lot of our resort all of the cars in the lot were plastered with these things.

But a lot of those cars were on the highways and it's very typical for this time of year to have lovebugs smooshed on your bumper like that around here.

I expected "swarms" of love bugs here in WDW after reading these boards, I expected not to be able to sit down on the benches because they were covered in love bugs, etc...we have been here since 9/29 at the Swan and they really haven't been bad. No problem sitting on benches, etc. Some occasionally flutter around us here and there, but no swarms (except for on our car for our trip up on the turnpike).

I live in Orlando and sometimes I feel like they are chasing me to my car :rotfl: :rotfl: I have to run and get in before they "get me"

When do they go away for the season? We go in 4 weeks (woot!), will they still be around??

Here's a pic from earlier last week. It was the elevator at the new stunt show at MGM. And at that time they actually did "swarm" us while sitting there.

By the time we checked out on Sunday, I saw very few.

They got really bad in the middle of last week at the Beach Club. Some chairs by the pool were black. We reluctantly left our stuff in a chair, as we did not want to sit with them, as they were all over you. When we left the pool, our stuff was covered with lovebugs, and some actually went back to our room with us. When we got home on Sunday, we washed the car, and all the dead lovebugs came off pretty easily.

I live in Daytona Beach and we have had love bugs for awhile. However, I am happy to say they are indeed dying down! :cool1:

What is the obsession with these things? They are completely harmless. They don't bite, they don't sting, they don't buzz around your ears. If they land on you, it's only to find more cushion for their pushin'.

Everyone is freaking out about these things. If the adults don't freak out about them, the kids are less likely to care.

Get over it. We don't need 4.5 million threads about them, and we definitely didn't need this one just as the hoopla was dying down.

Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now, Just too many "lovebug" threads.

Herbie should be the only Lovebug anyone is concerned about at WDW.

The only places I really noticed them were:
car stunt show
Aladdin's magic carpet ride
Triceratop spin

Honestly, I didn't think they were bad at all. They weren't a problem for us at all. However, I lived in Louisiana for 32 years so I have seen them swarm so badly that they came in door cracks and window screens. So they were nothing at WDW!

When they fly right between your sunglasses and your eyes that is very annoying.

Or all over your food when you are trying to eat.

So I find a thread about them dying down very helpful in deciding when my next trip might be.

Just got back and the bugs were pretty annoying. When we went on the Backlot Tour ride, the cm said they were attracted to deisel and feel free to swat them away as we rode the tram. This would also explain why they were bad at the bus stops also. The cm also said they would be gone in a couple of days.

Acid, seems like it. And on top of that the little buggers have no shame!

We just got back and there were a lot of Love Bugs. They were in the buses (squashed on shorts) and several in the bed! They are just pests...so we weren't upset about them, but they were everywhere. Seemed really thick at the Poly.

See the black specks on the ground in the first picture? Yep, those are squished/dead Lovebugs. (My DD was using her fan to kill them because they were so bad at the bus stop):

A typical sight (last week) at the bus stops:

Ug, I sure hope they're gone when we get there . . . I'd hate to go down Splash into a cloud of them!

We were at CSR the same time frame as the OP and the bus stop was covered with them. I couldn't believe it. The walls and the benches looked black instead of a cream color because of how many there were. I wish I would have taken a picture of them. And I agree towards the end of my trip them were already dying down.

We rode DME to our resort last Wednesday and one of our stops was CSR. The bugs were HORRID at CSR!! People on the bus were freaking out, they didn't know what they were. I was SO thankful we changed our ressie from CSR to AKL after seeing those bugs. They were by far the worst at CSR (from what we saw).
