Hi we are an Aussie family visiting in October.

We have a week at Disneyland, drive LA-SF over a week; stopping at Santa Barbara, Cambria and Montery for 2 nights each, the San Fransisco for 8 nights, Las Vegas for 5 nights (a conference for DH),

then we have a final night in LA. We fly in around lunch time and then fly home at midnight the following day.

So our final night....

We were thinking Beverly Wilshire for the experience but I am also debating between Santa Monica, Huntington Beach or ????

We have no set itinerary for this time; our children will be 3 and 5yo and just being in the USA is fun and a novelty for us.

That said, I may like the look of the Getty Villa or museum.

I would love your opinions.

Thanks

C

Wow, you are doing a bit of travelling. Anyway, I think the Beverly Hills/Wilshire distric is over rated however if you are hoping to see a movie star you best bet in this area (Beverly Hills/Wilshire) around 3rd and Fairfax streets is the Grove mall. Near the same streets you can also visit the original famers market.

With your children you might enjoy the beach area a bit more. Santa Monica Pier has amuzement park rides and plenty to see. You can also walk three blocks east to the 3rd street promenade which has various stores and street performers. Also from the Santa Monica Pier you can walk south to the famous Venice Beach area which also has street vendors, performers, skateboard park, etc.

I think you need the make reservations at the Getty Museum but an alternate museum would be the California Science Center. Plenty of stuff to see and lots of hands-on stuff for the kids plus it's free with the exception of parking. By the time you visit in October the California Science Center will have the Endeavor Space Shuttle on display.

I hope this helps, enjoy your visit.

Thanks ludari,

we are not interested in celebrity spotting, just exploring another section of LA before we leave the USA.

We are not sure whether to visit the Grove, farmers market, maybe LA girl for DD, and Rodeo drive

versus

the beach areas. I have never been to Santa Monica or Huntington, I have visited Venice and I think we will skip it this time due to time constraints and better areas to see with children.

We also don't want to be too far away from LAX for our midnight flight and will be relying taxis I think, so we have to pick one area due to time and transport.

I am open to suggestions...
