Better Value: Dining Package or Dessert Party?

Our first day in we will arrive early afternoon so we will be going into the park to have dinner and see a nighttime show (which one TBD). I would like to book with a dining package or dessert party so we have guaranteed spots. We are a family of three - two adults (WDW vets, first time DLR) and a four year old going at the end of October for OBB.

Which do you think would be a better option for first timers at DLR; dining package or dessert party? (assumes all shows and packages are back like pre-covid)

I have only ever done the Fantasmic dinner package at DLR, mostly because I/we are not dessert people. We did the WDW MVMCP Dessert Party pre-covid, and my 3 boys barely ate anything. But it was golden for the reserved seating. So for us, it was about priority seating, and not food. Same with Fantasmic - did River Belle, which I wouldn’t do otherwise, but did just for reserved seating.

Not sure if we know if OBB will have its own WOC dinner or dessert party, so assuming it wont I would prioritize Fantasmic, because I feel there are more seating options for WOC - assuming the queue system is gone but fall. (We’re not sure how long MSEP will be around, so Fantasmic would be my priority, and Blue Bayou at that. Again, seating.)

Probably won't be doing OBB the first night we are there so that's probably not an option even if they did have one.

If the Dining Packages return, I strongly prefer those. The spots for World of Color are a lot closer than the Dessert Party ones and it's a proper meal so I prefer the food.

I used to regularly do the Hungry Bear package for Fantasmic because it's not that expensive.

I don't think the parade packages are worth it though because it's easy to get a spot for those.
