January 8 2010….Last Day
So, today being our last day, we though we would go back over to DHS one last time because it was so packed last time. It was a rainy day(or so I’m told, I can’t really remember what we did that day!). However what I do remember is that we finally got on Toy Story Mania!
Get this; it was only a 15 minute wait! I guess the early bird really does get the worm! So we went on it twice!
So after meandering around a while, we left to go back to the room and get a bit of packing done. We had a 7:00 pm ADR at Shula’s in the Dolphin resort. We were really looking forward to this meal and fortunately I didn’t screw it up by getting sick for a change!
It was a very nice restaurant, very dark, which is fine by me and it did have a dress code. However, we saw plenty of people with shorts, jeans, sweatshirts coming and going. I guess in a place that dark nobody notices what you are wearing!
We got a nice little table for two in a quiet area. Something I found rather odd was when the hostess set a giant football down on the table. It listed all the steaks. I had to laugh because it just seemed so out of place for a fancy restaurant to plop a football on your table. I understand the restaurant is owned by and named after a football legend, but still, it was a little silly in my opinion.
Anyway, with the darn football out of the way, we enjoyed a wine (for me) and Tony had his usual beer. We drank and snacked on bread and chatted!
Tony had his usual Cesar salad, and the New York strip
I had the filet:
When they bring the steaks out, they ask you to check to see if the steak is done to your liking and they put on a flashlight so you can see it! LOL! Sure enough, the steaks were cooked perfectly and were outstanding. It was better than the steak at the Yachtsman Steakhouse last trip(and it was great!) and I can’t image Le Cellier being any better than this. And, need we compare it to the Big River Grill steak?
Good steak:
Baaad steak!
See the difference?
The sides were “family style” so we shared a crazy amount of broccoli and we each got a giant baked potato (though Tony ate half of mine for me)!
Although it was a very pricy meal, we enjoyed it very much, and I think we both agree it is probably the best meal we’ve ever had.
So, we had a fantastic dinner and a nice stroll back to the Boardwalk Inn. It was a great way to end the night and a nice end to another wonderful vacation. Happy to say we have been lucky to have had many WDW vacations with so many great memories to go along with it.
The End. Thanks for reading!
