We went to MNSSHP on 10-19-06. We had probably one of our best times ever at WDW this night. I thought I would share our experience of our excellent time.

First thing, we decided last minute we were not going to dress up. We were packing Wednesday night for our trip and we got everything we were taking packed into our two smaller suitcases except our costumes. We made the choice that we would rather travel lightly than pack another suitcase for vacation. I am glad we decided not to take our costumes. DFI was going to be Dorothy and I was going to be Toto from The Wizard of Oz. It was so HOT when we arrived in Orlando that I am so happy I didn’t have to wear that dog costume all night long.

We arrived in Orlando at 9:45 am (after leaving Akron/Canton at 5:40 am) and were at ASMu at 11:00 am. When we checked in we were lucky that there was a room available. We unpacked, got something quick to eat and then napped by the pool until around 3:00 pm. We left ASMu at around 4:00 pm and took Disney transportation to the MK. At 5:00 pm we were on the Jungle Cruise.

We had no problem at around 4:50 pm getting in to the MK with just our MNSSHP tickets. They had a special section of the ticket readers set up for just MNSSHP goers. After they scanned our tickets we received our wristbands and our candy bags and off we went.

The busiest the MK was the whole night was for our first hour. We went on the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin between 5:00 and 6:00 PM. At 6:00 PM we were at Pecos Bills and the place was deserted. We thought they were closing but they said no. I think no one was eating then since the MK was closing at 7:00 pm for the night and people wanted to see as much as they could before they had to leave.

After dinner we headed over to Tomorrowland. We forgot all about the castle show until we crossed the bridge out of Liberty Square and noticed everyone standing in front of the castle. We arrived about a couple of minutes before the Dream Along With Mickey show started and there were still places to stand at the Hub with good views. We watched the whole show and then continued over to Tomorrowland. Cast members were somewhat checking for bracelets as you crossed the bridge into Tomorrowland and were letting people know that did not have bracelets that the MK was closed and were turning them away. We went on Buzz first thing and it was pretty much a walk on. They were checking for bracelets as you walked onto the ride here also.

Between the hours of 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm we went on the following rides and did the following things in Tomorrowland.
Rode Buzz Light-year
Got our picture with Buzz Light-year
Rode the Astro Orbiter
Rode the Tomorrwland Transit Authority
Got some candy at the CoP
Rode Space Mountain
Rode the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway

After our tour of Tomorrowland we went up to Mickey’s Toontown Fair and took the candy trail back to Tomorrowland. Along the trail we got our pictures taken with Walrus, Alice, Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dumb and some Playing Cards.

After the candy trail we got more candy from the CoP and then went over to Fantasy Land. During our first tour of Fantasy Land we did the following 3 things.

We got our pictures taken with Pooh & Eeyore dressed in their costumes and then got our pictures taken with Tigger & Piglet dressed in their costumes. We were actually quite luck to get this done. We just got done getting our pictures taken with Pooh & Eeyore and right after the family after us Pooh & Eeyore left. About 3 minutes later out comes Tigger & Piglet so we got back in line. After our photo shoot we went on Peter Pan & it’s a small world. Both rides were walk ons.

After iasw we walked over to Liberty Square and on our way we got our pictures taken in front of Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach.

At 9:00 pm we got in line for the Haunted Mansion. We were a little scared we would miss HalloWishes! Once again no wait. We did mill around in front of the Haunted Mansion a bit and listen to the cast member that was dressed up in front of the attraction. She was hilarious. I forget what she called her self but she was supposedly a ghost from the Haunted mansion and was cracking ghost jokes and then she started to hit on one of the men in line for the ride. We could have stayed there another 15 minutes and listened to her but we had other things to do. We were off of the Haunted Mansion at 9:15 pm and then we went to get our spot for HalloWishes!

We arrived in front of the castle and it was pretty packed. We noticed that there was hardly anyone standing behind the statue of Mickey and Walt in the hub so we stood there for the fireworks. These were the BEST fireworks I have ever seen! These were better than the fireworks we saw during MVMCP last year (similar but better). I think both DFi and I liked these best because of the music that played during them. Also all of the images of pumpkins, ghouls & ghosts they projected onto the castle were a neat touch. I know if we get back to WDW in October again we are definitely going to see HalloWishes again!

After the fireworks we headed up to Frontierland. We went on both Big Thunder Mountain & Splash Mountain in about 15 minutes. There were no lines for either ride. I know this is the only part of the night DFi did not enjoy. We got SOAKED on Splash Mountain. We didn’t get wet going down the 5 story drop. We got soaked even before we got up into the mountain. There is a little corner when the ride first starts off that is by the bottom of the 5 story drop. Our log was right there when another log came down the drop and a tidal wave of water soaked our entire log. I thought it was hilarious but DFi didn’t think so. (She got over it after I reminded her we were on vacation and nobody we would see knew her).

After our bath we headed to get a spot for the parade and noticed Woody inside of where the Goofy Country Jamboree used to be standing all by himself. I figured what a great time to get a picture with Woody. We entered and walked right up to Woody and got our picture taken with him. No line, how great. There was still nobody else in there so then I drew on Woody and he took me down. Boy was he a quick draw. As we were having fun his Horse came out and then we got our picture with Woody & his Horse. At this time people started coming into the building to get their pictures taken so we said goodbye and went outside to get our spot for the parade.

When we exited we saw that there was nobody standing behind the rope right across from Pecos Bills. I think nobody was standing there because it was right in front of a refreshment cart that was closed. We then asked a cast member if that area was being kept clear for any reason and she said no so we had our perfect spot for the parade. As soon as we got behind the rope to wait for the parade the area filled right up.

The MNSSHP is now tied with my favorite parade ever at WDW. I put it right up there with the Tapestry of Nations parade they used to have in Epcot. The Electric Light Parade is now third in my book. The MNSSHP was great from start to finish. We loved seeing the characters dressed in costumes, The Pirates of the Caribbean segment, the waltzing ghosts were great to watch, the grave diggers were incredible to watch with their shovel show, The skeleton band that brought the villains had some good music playing (even though the skeletons could have faked playing the musical instruments a little better), and the villains on parade were great interacting with the parade watchers as they went along. We even enjoyed the end of the parade with Goofy on his Goofy’s Candy Co. vehicle. (Even though it reminded us both of Willy Wonka).

After the parade we headed back to the castle to watch the last Villain’s Mix & Mingle of the night and there was nobody waiting yet so we headed over to Tomorrowland to catch a little bit of the Stitch dance party. I really don’t care for anything Stitch but we said what the heck. I think Stitch had the best costume of the night. It was quite funny seeing Stitch dressed up as Elvis and shaking his hips.

Back over to the castle we then went. This time when we got there, there was still plenty of room to stand in front of the hub. We actually stood in the parade path right behind everyone that was seated directly in front of the stage. 3 minutes later the show started. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the show but it was actually my least favorite thing of the night. But everyone knows that this is not why everyone was there. It was for the Mingle after the show. We had lots of fun getting our pictures taken with the villains. We were able to get our pictures taken with them all. Cruella, The Evil Queen, Maleficent, Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook & Frollo. We had some fun times interacting with the characters. The Queen of hearts made me kneel down and kiss her hand. DFi picked on me later by saying she thought the Queen of Hearts might be a guy because of how tall she is. Cruella motioned to mess up DFi’s hair and DFi gave her the evil eye and scared her off. And last but not least I felt bad for Frollo. After about 10 minutes nobody was standing in line to get any pictures or autographs with him, so he went over and started messing with the Queen of Hearts. She (or he) didn’t want him taking away any of her spotlight so she banished him from her sight.

After we were done getting our pictures taken it was about 11:45 pm. We decided to head back up to Fantasyland and see what was going on up there. It was pretty much deserted. There were a few people wandering around but there were no lines for anything. We walked right onto Winnie the Pooh and I believe we were the only people on the ride. Since no one else was on the ride I broke Disney Law and took pictures inside of Winnie the Pooh. When I reviewed these pictures later at our resort they were all out of focus & blurry. Serves me right for breaking the law. After our ride on Pooh DFi & I went over and played in Pooh’s Playful Spot. We had the area all to ourselves. A cast member did look at us like we both had two heads but we were having fun so we didn’t care.

After or romp through the Hundred Acre Woods we took a leisurely stroll down Main Street and got some great pictures of all of the signage & “spookily” decorated buildings. We stopped in the Photo shop on our way out to get our 50% off photo and were in line for a bus back to ASMu at 12:45 am.

If I could have changed anything about this evening I would have liked it about 10 degrees cooler. It was extremely hot during party. I guess it is better than rainy so I should stop complaining.

If there are any questions I’ll try to answer them.

We were there that night too!

We were there the same night as well. We had a BLAST! My DD (2) is still asking to go back and trick or treat at the park. :)
