What is the bestest and easiest way to carry the card they give you at check in for the ship? I will have to carry my kids' cards too with me....where can i find something convenient for this please...?

Thanks~

Kathy,

We found the best way to carry them was by buying plastic ID holders at Wal-Mart and placing them on a lanyard to wear around our necks. I think that is the way most do it. I don't know how old your kids are but my twin DDs were 6 on our cruise and they had no problem with them. The lanyard is also a great place to display pins (if you are into that).

Not only did we carry our KTTW cards but our IDs as well (for getting back on the ship after excursions). Our holders had a closure on them so losing them was pretty difficult. Anyway, that is how we carried ours. I'm sure there are others who will give you more advise.

best way i've found to carry kttw card was in my pocket, and DWs and DS's in her lanyard.....we received a lanyard from our CruiseOne agent, which had the logo on it....DW placed a picture of our boys over the logo-instantly customized!!!!!

Gee CK~
aren't your children older?? They should be able to hold their own

I bought the lanyard at Walmart for myself, my parents, and my 5 yr old nephew. I will let you know how they work. They were under $1 at Walmart and you can find them behind the jewelry section with the luggage tags and stuff.

If you want something that is DCL, the on board store sells a hard plastic id holder. It comes in a variety of colors, has the DCL logo, a lanyard, and has a waterproof flip top with latch. It is about the size of a deck of cards. There is one that is about 1/2 as thick as a deck amd another that is thicker. The thinner one easily hold2-3 KTTW cards and IDs. They are more expensive than the Walmart option - about $6 -$7 I think. I still have mine from several cruises ago and it is ready to go again in three weeks!!

Yes~ they are a little older Jeanny...My kids are 11 & 10; I think they 'can' carry they're own cards, LOL, However, My question/thought is...Are they responsible enough ... What if they lose them? Can they be replaced...?

Actually I had looked in WallyWorld for lanyards to use for pintrading for the kids~and they think I am  . They dont even know what a lanyard is, lol, But I will be sure to check behind the luggage tags next time.

I thought some of your entourage were older and would be responsible enough to hold onto their keycards... How old is Alyssa ? she's not responsible enough to have her own card? If they lose them, you just go to guest services

My DD, 9, bought me one of the Disney Cruise waterproof plastic things from the gift shop. She also bought one for herself. She got the smaller of the 2 sizes. They were fabulous! I loved having it in the World after we left the ship too.

I was able to put a credit card in it, my KTTK card, my ID, and a couple of bucks in it. It was easily accesible. At work, my ID is on a lanyard - so I am used to wearing something like that around my neck. I loved having my most important things so accessible!

With my DD having one - it gave me the confidence that she would not loose her KTTK card also.

The only thing I did not like about these lanyards was the "breakaway feature." While the actual lanyard has a snug fit at the connectors, I think it is a safety feature that they must be able to break away if they are yanked (at least it is in the hospital where I work) - we just tied a knot near the end so it could not accidentally break away and fall off.

I think the smaller sized ones are about $5 or $6 in the gift shop. I am glad DD bought the smalller size - I don't know if I would have liked the "bulky" larger ones.

Have a great trip!

I have somehow lost my KTTW card on all 3 cruises that I've been on. THey can be replaced and with the kids their charging privledges can be taken off the card so it can be used as a room key only. I've tried everything with carrying the card. Done the purse thing, the pocket things and the lanard thing. It's just become a ritual for me to lose it, lose my mind looking for it and taking the walk to Guest Services to deactivate the card and get a new one.

Jeanny...:)
I am only worried about mine, Alyssa (she is 11) and Shane's (he is 10) cards. And, no, , I don't think she is responsible to carry her own card.
I'll be with the kids anyways, so I plan to keep the cards on me.

Do other parents let they're kids hold/carry they're cards while onboard...? And how old are these kids?

How old are your kids Suzanne?

She's 4 and I usually keep hers in the safe, but I deactivate it hers.

I keep mine in my camera bag. That way I have my camera and KTTW cards for myself and DD, sometimes DH. DD is now 9, but was 8 on the last cruise and I always carried hers. She did not need to be carrying it since she was not allowed to sign herself out of the Lab and when not in the Lab she was with one of us.
