My mom is looking for a pair of nice walking/tennis shoes for her upcoming trips to WDW and Las Vegas. Any suggestions?

I love my Nike Air Max cross trainers, but I would like to give her some more ideas before she heads to the outlet mall.

Any brand, any style, she just wants comfy shoes for walking!

TIA:)

I prefer Reebok. I have a small arch and wide feet. I find reebok cross trainers are more comfy and wear better

I have a pair of Nike running shoes and they are great for walking. I've tried them all, and these are by far the most comfortable.

I've found that I need a soft flexible shoe and have had great luck with a brand I found at Kmart called Cobbie Cuddlers.
I didn't spend a fortune on them AND the best part......I never had to use my moleskin when I wore these shoes!

Good luck to your mom. There are SO many choices to be had!

The running shoes have more cushion on the bottom. I got a pair of New Balance running shoes to wear for work. I got a men's pair because they were the only one's that were solid black. But they are very comfortable for walking in all day.

I would highly recommend going to a good shoe store where they have knowledgable people working, and try on a few pair. Each foot is different, so what works for me (Adidas) is not going to work for someone else. I have a very high arch and a narrow foot, and I had to try on about 10 pair before I found the kind I liked.

I love my New Balance shoes, with the roll bar.

I always wore cheap shoes before I was diagnosed with diabetes and was told I needed to lose weight and exercise, so when I started walking I wanted a good sturdy shoe that my feet wouldn't get tired/sore in. The New Balance shoes are wonderful, no more tired feet. I can walk and walk and walk....

These are great suggestions!
I had already told her to check out Nike (the only shoes I really wear) and New Balance.

She has a narrow foot--I'm not sure about her arch though, we didn't discuss it:p

We will probably go to Mall of America to Champp's to get a good idea for proper fit and then over to one of the outlet malls to see what their prices are. She really doesn't want to spend much more than $100--but I think she will still be able to find a good selection in that price range.

Thanks again!

Running shoes are great as others have mentioned above. I believe they are lighter than walking shoes and cross trainers, yet have more cushioning in the sole.

Nike notoriously has the softest upper part and they always feel like heaven on my feet, but their soles aren't too good for pronation (my ankles will slightly roll inward). New Balance is supposed to be a great shoe with more widths than any other, but whenever I put these on the upper part of the shoe always feels uncomfortable to me. I've have found a middle ground with Asics (not as soft as the Nike but a better sole) and more comfy than the New Balance.

You should easily be able to get a good shoe under $100. Mine cost me around $120 but any "stability/motion control" shoe like I buy is high end. Since she's not running, she won't really need that feature.

New Balance 991's - the best!!! Expensive, but worth it! I won't wear anything else.

I just bought a pair of Easy Spirit walking shoes that I love!

Only her feet can tell. What works for one person is totally wrong for another. Have her go to one of the mall stores towards the end of the day (feet swell during the day) and try on a variety of shoes from different manufacturers (including different styles from the same maker) and settle on the pair that feels the best as soon as they are put on.

I used to wear only Nike athletic shoes. I switched last year to Ryka, it is a brand that is made exclusively for women. Has a slightly larger toe box and a narrower heel. My feet are always happy when we're walking around WDW :teeth: . I also think it's a good idea to get a good fit at a shoe store and see what feels good for her. Good luck.

My podiatrist has New Balance at the top of his list.

I love Ryka! I will never go back to anything else. My Rykas took me through Alaska for two weeks and will be going with me to WDW!

I'm with Simba's Mom. I used to wear Reebok and Nike but once I switched to Easy Spirit, I've remained loyal.

Not only are they incredibly comfortable, they're not as athetic looking as other lines. I prefer a nice plain sneaker, particularly when wearing shorts.
