I am a WDW pro but a newbie to DL. We booked 5 nights at Best Western Plus Park Place across from the main entrance to the parks for 2/20-2/25. We paid about $150 a night for a king bed and pullout couch with free buffet breakfast. I was nervous about staying at a motel, but the reviews were mostly positive. In the end I am very happy with our choice. It was THE closest hotel to the park entrances, except for maybe the Grand Californian which was like $500 a night. The DisneyLand Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel were significantly further away from the park entrances than the BW park place. It was less than a 5 minute walk from the front of the hotel to the security check. I am not a fast walker! The room was very clean, the decor in our room was recently updated. The room was comfortable. We had the very last room on the third floor...although it meant a longer walk it also made for a very quiet stay. Breakfast buffet was not overly crowded, no problems finding a table. They had typical lower quality cafeteria style food-eggs, potatoes, ham, fruit, cereal, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, pasteries, toast, coffee, tea, juice. We all found something to tide us over until lunch. We watched the Friday night fireworks from the sidewalk infront of the hotel. It would have been better if they piped in the music but it was nice to be able to go right to our room when the fireworks ended.
