For the week I am planning, Best Western Park Place has two rooms available - King and Sofa Bed, and Suite with 2 Queens and Sofa Bed. In the description, I don't see a mention of the size of rooms, although it mentions the suites are "new". There is a $15 price difference - any thoughts on whether the suite is worth the extra money? We will be one adult and 2 kids. Thanks!

We really liked BWPPI. The location is great and we very much liked having a mini suite, as it was nice to have a couch to sit on. It sound to me like both rooms you're being quoted are mini suites (kind of like 2 separate rooms but only divided by a partial wall on one side) since they both have couch/sofa bed, but I'm sorry to say I don't really know. Since you're 1 adult and 2 kids, either would work for you just fine. I'd call and ask them about the difference in the rooms other than bed type. If it's just bed type, you could easily go with the king unless your kids want to each have their own bed or someone doesn't like sleeping on a sofa bed. If you want a little more space and the king room isn't a mini suite, I'd pay the extra for the suite. It's nice to have extra room and a separate area IMO, and $15 isn't that much of a difference.

Thanks for your reply! The woman I spoke to at the hotel called the first one a standard room and the second one a suite, so I assume it is a little bigger...I will call and ask tomorrow. Did you take advantage of the free breakfast? If so, was it good...?

Yes, we did. My kids and dh thought it was fine. It was pretty standard motel breakfast fare, but I've not been back since pre-Covid so you might ask them how it's done now. Some motels have gone to bagged meals that include things like a banana, granola bar, etc.

Since the king is a standard room, you just have to decide whether you need the extra space of the suite or prefer to pocket the extra $15/night to spend elsewhere. Have a great trip! I'll be interested to hear what you think.

We had the breakfast there in November. At that point they were not doing bagged breakfast. Typical hot motel breakfast (eggs, potatoes, sausage..) and cold options (yogurt, packaged muffins, fruit...). The food was not great, but better than the "to go" breakfasts I've seen recently and good enough to fill up before hitting the park.

Our biggest perk at this hotel is it has the pull-out couch. As a family of 5 with all 3 kids over 10, we can't do the hotels that fit 4 and throw in an air mattress anymore. We actually need beds. The breakfast is pretty good. The location can't be beat. You pay for the extra bed and location as the price is more than other hotels around them. And the service is just meh (nothing compared to HoJo, Courtyard, or Fairfield). Overall, we like the value. It really works for a family of 5.

We were just there last week (March 2022) and stayed in one of the minisuites with two queens and a sofa bed. We are also a family of 5 so this worked well for us. The sofa bed was just okay, I wouldn't want to sleep on it as an adult but for my kids (even my 12yo) it was just fine.

Breakfast changes every day slightly. The constant items were scrambled eggs and potatoes cooked with a not insignificant amount of pepper. Then there was a meat option (ham, sausage patties) and a carb option (pancakes, waffles, french toast). The cold food items are perfectly serviceable. With a family of 5 we saved a lot having breakfast at the hotels. And we did not find the price to be higher than other hotels; in fact, it was $100 more per night to stay at the Hyatt House (further away). It was priced comparable to Camelot and HoJo and much less than Courtyard or Fairfield. I found the service to be just fine.

I think it depends if you are happy with the pullout for the kids if you pick the king. Some may consider that a hassle, but I don't think the suite is a significantly bigger room. We really like the BWPPI as our go to hotel due to the locations and breakfast, so I think you'll be happy either way.

OP, I forgot to mention that we went there as a family of 5. It worked very well for us to have a mini suite. With just 3 of you, it would easily work with the regular room.

Thanks so much for your suggestions and info! I decided to book the mini suite - we will be there 6 nights (in July), so we might appreciate the extra bed and little bit of extra room. I'm glad the breakfast sounds like it's pretty good - that will be helpful!
