Hi all I'm Krystal and yes I am a lurker, now that it's off my chest down to business. Me and my friend are going to orlando on the March 11th for spring break. This is our first trip without our parents, so we were excited, until I found this board two days ago and saw some bad reviews about our hotel Best Western Florida Mall :( , but the reviews aren't recent so I am hoping the hotel is better now because it was renovated in 2002, I've never been in less then a 4 star hotel so I'm really nervous. My questions are:

Has anyone been to the Best Western Florida Mall within a year, should my friend and I avoid it?

Is Wet N Wild worth going to?

Can two 20 year olds, get invited to timeshare presentations (we want free tickets anywhere) or are we too young?

What transportation is available around the florida mall area ?, we thought all we would need is the hotel shuttle to the parks, but we then realized it might not be that convienient.

That's it for now thanx for your time.

well first, welcome to the DIS!!:bounce:
second you will probably get more replies about your hotel on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board. it is for offsite hotels and other things to do in the area.
the only other question i can answer is about the timeshares. for most of them you must be married, at least 25 yrs old, and have a minimum income of $40,000/year. i tried. but i am a single parent so i couldnt even look. i think they are missing out on a big customer base by not including us singles.

have a great trip!!

krystal- Since you are under 25 you won't be able to rent a car. You may want to think about staying on site at the Value resorts of the All Stars, Sports,Music or Movies. Disney has it's own transportation system that would be great for you and your friend. You can call and ask for CRO and then ask for a "room only rate". It should be between $84.-$109. If either of your parents have AAA, the auto club, you can get a discount on the room.

But if you still need offsite hotel then Definately check out the
"Orlando Hotels and Attractions Board" they can help you find an excellant hotel with an excellant shuttle!!

Try biddingfortravel.com and get suggestions. We got the Best Western lake Buena vista 2 and 1/2 stars for $32 per night by bidding downtown disney. Nice rooms, two queen beds, view of epcot fireworks at night.free shuttle to Disney parks. Drawback--the pool is small, but what a bargain.
Have fun.
If you're set on a car, some companies will allow it by paying a supplement. Try orbitz.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com.
Have a great trip.

Thanx for the replies. I guess I didn't make really make it clear though, my hotel and flight have already been booked for like a week now, so I can't really get out of it. I also figured this was the best place to ask my question because it is the most active. But now I know what to look for next time, thanx again.

You would absolutely HAVE to have a car to get anywhere fun from that location. Florida Mall is the mall that caters to Orlando residents; there are really no attractions anywhere near it at all.
That area is generally considered airport hotel country, though non-prime, and it is quite some distance from even the I-drive strip, let alone the Disney area.

I'd write it off and get something in Lake Buena Vista (or on I-Drive) through Priceline, especially if you don't have a vehicle. If you can live with a 2-star, you could probably get something dirt cheap.
