Hi there,

I'm currently trying to figure out the best way for us to pay our Disney balance. I've been putting aside savings in a US bank account through RBC. Any advise on how to pay this balance - preferably without having to get a US credit card? I have a few Canadian cards, but prefer not to pay and incur the additional foreign exchange fees the credit card companies charge for the exchange. Any advised would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Visa cards through Amazon.ca do not have the additional foreign exchange fees. I got one for the sole purpose of paying for things that are in USD.

Edited to add a link since I just sent this to my mother a few minutes ago!

Amazon.ca Rewards Visa

Yes to the Amazon.ca Visa. I use it for all my Ebay purchases as well as Disney. We are going in Decēmber so I am putting $200 a month credit on it. $2400 saved by December. That will take care of my rooms and car rental. It's my own payment plan.

I use the RBC visa debit. Comes right out of my account and no extra fees. Just pay the RBC rate.

I also have an RBC visa debit card. Do you know if you can choose for the funds to come out of a US dollar account set up with RBC? I've been saving money in my RBC US account when the dollar has been better, but am afraid to switch it back to Canadian as it will incur more fees. It would be awesome if it could!

Do you pay the visa balance in Canadian dollars?

It will get charged in USD but you will only pay the straight exchange for the day. CIBC charges 2.9% foreign exchange fee. That's $29 on $1000. No thanks. The Amazon visa has no fee and every $1000 it credits your account $20. It will not give you any travel insurance though and I didn't use it for my rental car. My CIBC card provides car rental insurance which was worth the 2.9%

That I don't know, but I don't see why they couldn't, give the customer service centre a call. We have a US finds account too, i and putting some in here And there for our meals on the next trip.
