Best way to use points in July

I am planning a trip in July for just my girls and myself. We really want to stay at the GF and I know it seems to be a waste of points to use there. However tell me if I am wrong but it seems smarter to use points there for 3 nights and spend the cash to stay at moderate for the other 4 nights. I would rather be at a DVC location for the other nights but paying cash for GF seems crazy!
Just looking for advice on the best way to use points but not spend an insane amount in the process.

You will almost allways be better to stay at DVC with DVC points and books the other resorts with cash. As long as you are not trying to book 7/4 reservation cash you will likely be able to get a discount on GF if you look at the historic discount data.
