Best way to shop car insurance and how frequently do you all do it?

I had the same car insurance, liberty mutual, for over 15 years. When I learned that my husband and I were paying more for 2 paid off old cars for just the two of us than my coworker was paying for three cars and three drivers, and one was a 17 year old boy, I called his guy at State Farm. They bundled auto and home, switched everything over the phone, AND had me on the phone with the liberty mutual rep to make sure they were meeting my current coverage. I saved almost $800 on auto and $150 on home AND got better coverage. Like a pp I wish I had done it years ago, but I thought it would be hard. 20 minutes on the phone and clicking through some esign docs within 24 hours on email. Easy as pie.

Honestly, we haven't shopped ours in years. We have GEICO, no accidents or tickets, and it still seems high. I know I should shop it, but it seems like a pain. Is there a relatively painless way to do it, like a company that can check a bunch of different places for quotes? Do you all call places like Progressive, AAA, State Farm, etc. individually? I want to do this before the end of the year as our renewal is coming up. Thanks.

ETA - Also, is there such a thing as price matching? I don't like the idea of changing from GEICO since we have other policies with them. If another quote is much cheaper could I get them to price match it?

We have always been State Farm all the way, then suddenly they wanted our home policy to be sky rocked in price increase, so we dropped them. Our MH is insured through Progressive, so we just called them, and they are one of 'many' that our agent goes through, and he just told us the best rate for our home/cars (better and broader coverage for lots less) with another major carrier and that's who we are with - was very easy, and we are satisfied.

That's exactly how it should have been done! Side by side. Coverage for coverage . Happy to hear it worked so nicely. I had State Farm before USAA

I shop every 3-4 months. I call a few agents and say if you can lower my payments with the same coverage more than 10% I will switch. I went to liberty mutual 8 years ago doing this and no one has been able to beat them since
