Best way to rent car from Disney to Lauderdale?

I'm looking for some advice on car rentals. Usually, we just take a town car from MCO to WDW and back, but our next trip we are going to go from Disney down to Ft. Lauderdale to visit family.

What is the best way to rent a car to do this? I don't want to have a car for the days we're at Disney, just for the ride down. We'll be flying out of Lauderdale.

Is there a way to rent a car at WDW? I'd hate to have to taxi to MCO to rent the car.
