We will be arriving at LAX at 10:40am on a Sunday and plan to pick up our rental car at National and drive up to the Hollywood Walk of Fame area. I'd also like to stop by Disney's Concert Hall, if possible. After a few hours, we'll then drive down to Carlsbad (we have friends there) for a few days before heading to Anaheim.
Looking at various routes, would it be better to go to Hollywood first and then over to Disney's Concert Hall and then down the I 5 to Carlsbad?
Or Disney's Concert Hall first and then over to Hollywood and down the I 405 to the I 5.
We were in Santa Monica last summer and I'm not sure if we will want to revisit any spots on the drive down to Carlsbad, but I'm also not sure how the I 405 compares to the I 5. It looks like we would have to take Santa Monica Blvd from Hollywood to the I 405, too. Or would we be best to avoid the I 405 altogether and stick to the I 5?
