Best way to get to parks and downtown?

We are staying at the Swan and I have rented a car. Should I just park the car and leave it for the week or should I use it to go to the various parks and Downtown Disney? Also, would it be easier to go to my character breakfasts that I have reserved by car? I have Cinderellas and Mickeys breakfast all booked.

I debated renting a car but decided against it and was very glad. I would have gotten lost without a doubt, even with the road signs. We took the Disney Buses everywhere.

You are going to get various opinions on driving/busses. But for the specific example of the CRT character breakfast, Disney transportation is going to get you closer/faster. If you drive your car to the MK parking lot before 8:00 am, you are not going to be able to park, take a monorail or ferry, and make it to CRT by 8:00 am. The Disney bus will take you directly to the bus stop by the entrance of MK. You can then walk over and give a CM your PS number for entrance to the park early.

You did not say which "Mickey breakfast." There are at least four breakfasts with Mickey. Which are you planning to attend? Is it at a park or a resort. If it is at one of the resorts, you may be better off driving. But if it is in a park, you would probably be better off taking Disney busses.

We always drive to DTD, and even though the Swan is very close to, you'll find it much faster to drive as well. As for the character meals at other resorts, the MK is very convenient to the Swan, it is a very short bus ride. From there you can hop a monorial to Chef Mickey's.

Thanks for all your responses. We are doing Chef Mickey's Breakfast at the Contemporary.

Cinderella's Royal Table at the Magic Kingdom and Hoop -Dee-Doo at Fort Wilderness.

I guess the easiest way is their transportation. How early should I leave the Swan for each one prior to the time that I need to be there?
