Hi

We will be arriving in Orlando airport on June 1st (4 adults)...would taxi be the fastest and cheapest way to our hotel? We will have a lot of luggage with us as this will be one of our last destinations on our 6 week trip to the US/Canada.

I read somewhere that its best to hire a towncar as they are able to drop by a grocery shop for us on the way to our hotel to pick up any essentials (round trip is about $120)..the problem is, 2 of us are leaving a day earlier so the $120 will only take one couple back and the other couple will have to pay a taxi again the next day.

Anyway, is this what you guys would do? Are there any other options?

How much is a taxi for 4 people with at least 2 items of luggage each?

We are staying at the Hilton Orlando Resort Lake Beuna Vista.

I look forward to your response on this.

Thanks heaps :)

A rental car is probably going to be the cheapest way but you may not want to do that. In that case, you can always get a van taxi...shouldn't be much more, if any, than a regular cab.
There is going to be no way around the addtl cost if you have people leaving on two different days, and you use cabs.
The cost is probably about $60ish each way. With a towncar service, you may run into room issues. Four adults will fit but I'm not sure about 8 pieces of luggage. You may want to call and find out.

You might look into a one way towncar trip for the grocery stop, and use Mears's shuttle (about $20. per person one way) for the trips back to the airport.

I would use a towncar vs a taxi so you can get a firm price in advance in addition to the grocery stop. Try an email or a call the company your considering using and see if they will give you a discount on your "3 leg trip", you can also confirm what size vehicle you will need.

Alternately you can use a shared ride service, Mears at $30 per person round trip and have groceries delivered for a fee. I use wegoshop and have had excellent service, others recommend gardengrocer.

You could also have both couples ride the towncar on the trip from the airport and one couple riding it on the return making it a round trip so you are entitled to the grocery stop. Then the remaning couple could use Mears one way for their trip to the airport @ $18.00 one way per person.

Most towncar companies will not offer a grocery stop on a one way trip, yes Mears is $18.00 one way.

Excellent advice! I will do it this way for sure!

In regards to getting a towncar, is it quite easy to get one when we land and are the cars big enough to carry us all with our lugagges? And so I don't get ripped off, is $120 the price we should be paying for a round trip, including the grocery drop off?

Thanks everyone for your help...much appreciated!!

You really should book a towncar prior to arrival. The good companies don't just hang at the airport, hoping to pick up customers. I have used Tiffany Towncar with very good results. And yes, $120 would be roundtrip. Plan on tipping twice, on each leg of your ride.

Cheers...will look into booking a towncar in advance...apart from Tiffany, are there any others to consider?

In terms of tipping, is it about 10% of the cost ie total of $24 ($12 for each leg of the ride)?

I just checked out the Florida Tours web page and their price includes gate fees and tolls...do you know if I have to pay extra for these fees with Tiffany?

Thanks

No I have never paid tolls with Tiffany ! Also yes to your above qeustion on tipping. Personally I tip a bit more on the inbound leg if we do a grocery stop as it is taking time away from the driver in regard to making another trip.

Thanks everyone for all your help.
I have booked a towncar with Tiffany.
I think for the way back (second couple), we will just catch a taxi.
How much am I looking at paying for a one way to the airport?
