Best way to get the room you want?

Hi,
what is the best way to get the room you want? Unofficial suggests a good number of rooms to request to be sure you have a real versus splinter view of the water. When I talked to the CM and tried to request "one of the following rooms" it took forever to get halfway through the suggested rooms and the CM implied I would be more likely to get the room by just requesting a full balcony with a lake view than by asking for one of a number of rooms. What do you think? would it be better to just request room A or room B?

You need to give them some leeway. If you ask for room 1234 and it isn't available they don't know what you would want instead. If you say second floor facing the lake that gives them a lot more to work with.

Also remember it is only a request.

I agree with the CM and Safetymom. If you request a specific room (or list of rooms, which I don't think was the actual intention of the UG) you make it difficult to accommodate you. If, instead, you let the CM know what features you want, THEY can do their best to find a room that fits your requirements.

We asked for a specific room at AKL for Dec., with the understanding that we probably won't get it. I let them know why I wanted that room (Sunset Savannah & Arusha come together there) and that we really wanted to be near the Red River Hog's den so we could watch them go in & out. That way even if we don't get our room, hopefully we can be close to the RRH den which is the whole reason we want to go back to AKL!

You have to have some Faith in the staff for your room tho. Usually I let Fate take it's course & see what happens. I have yet to be disappointed & have had some amazing rooms & views! Not once have I viewed a parking lot, dumpster or anything.
