Yay!! Solo trips are a blast!! I've taken 4 so far & I love them.
I would stick to QS places, maybe a meal at a nice resturant for a dinner one day, Character meals certainly get tricky too lol.
I used the phtotopass on one trip, i'd say its worth it if you're going to meet a lot of characters. I felt awkward posing alone on Main St, say, but i meet a ton of characters so it worked out!!
Have fun!! I definitely suggest park hopper tickets as well!
