Best way to get notified of room only discounts?

Hi,

I know all the websites to check for room only discounts, but that relies on me checking every morning. I've viewed the historical room only discount dates on mousesavers.com and it seems to vary widely year to year so it's hard to just assume they will come out at that time. Since Disney limits the number of rooms they will discount, knowing the day it is announced is vital. This year I missed a window for annual passholder discount announcement by 2 weeks and the rooms were already booked by the time I called.

Do any of you have a great automated way to know when they are announced? Any feeds that are reliable to be immediately updated when the discount is announced by Disney World?

Thank you!

We used a WDW-specific travel agent for only the room reservations. We got a better room at a lower rate as she was watching for them all the time. Some for large DDP discount last year.

I don't know of an automated way to get this info. Hopefully I'll learn something in this thread.

My one huge complaint about Disney is that their communications suck. Even with being a AP holder I was told they don't and won't notify of release dates and specials.

It's the customer's responsibility to check for sales and discounts on the website. Direct quote from a supervisor.

I "like" a poster who is usually in the know about discounts and he shows up on my Facebook scroll, and I check the website every day or so during the traditional timelines.

There are also a number of bloggers that post as soon as they see it. I'm not sure of the sites as I don't follow them.

If you subscribe to Mousesaver's Newsletter you will get an e-mail detailing discounts. Now i'm not sure if they send special ones out just a the BIG DISCOUNTS are about to be released but i seem to recall that when this year's free-dining offer came out they did send a special note. Anyone care to confirm this?? I was ready to jump on the phone as soon as i found out HERE!! There are usually several posts floating around with "speculations" and then immediately upon release you will see it posted. Just make sure you"subscribe" to the threads about discounts and select that you want e-mail notification and you'll get inundated! :rotfl2:

I use changedetectiondotcom to monitor Mousesavers website. Anytime wording is added or changed on the site I get an email notification from changedetection.

If you are not willing or able to check for discounts yourself, you should get a travel agent who is a Disney specialist. Dreams Unlimited is the official travel agent of the DIS and is a good place to start.

If you know the time frame you are interested in traveling then you can subscribe to the appropriate discount thread. There is no guarantee that other posters will post things immediately but it won't take 2 weeks for Dis'ers to share.

If you have a Disney Visa card, you will usually get an email a few days in advance of Disney Visa discounts being released. This usually happens a few days before general public discounts.

It's actually been pretty consistent for the last several years. Join the discount thread for your month of travel and follow the discussion.

Yep, ultimately this.

This works. In fact, our TA notified us of the DDP discount we got last year about 3-4 days before it was publicly announced so I just told here to add it to the package we already booked when it became available.

I've had the Disney Visa for years. I may get an email from them once a year about a discount. I find their communication to be very unreliable.

One more question - how do I find the discount thread? I searched on April 2015, discount April 2015, discount 2015, room discount 2015 and still can't find it?

Thanks!
