Best way to get from Hotel Royal Plaza to Universal?

My dad is staying here and would like to meet up with us at universal. He won't have a car. He's using Fl. tours for to and from the airport, if he uses them for Universal, it is $70.00 round trip + tip figure $80.00 but it will be split between 3 people. If he goes through Mears, it will be $14.00 per person round trip. Is it worth the extra money to go with Fl. Tours towncar?
