We leave for WDW in4 days!!! My question is what is the best way to get from AK to Mk? We are going to AK for the day and then we have dinner ressies at Crystal Palace at MK. We are staying at the POP. Do they have buses from AK to Mk? If not I guess I will have to alot ourselves enough time to get back to the Pop and take a bus to MK.

Thanks for any help!! We are so excited!!!

Take a bus to the Contemporary...then walk the short path over to the Magic Kingdom. I would not take a POP bus unless you needed to change, shower, etc.

There are busses that run directly from AK to MK. No need to take a bus to the Contemporary.

I do not think that there are buses directly to the MK, It would be to the transportation center. I would also take a park bus to the Contemporary of Poly or GF, 3 options, then you could walk of take the Monorail to MK. This will shorten your wait, because you can get on whichever bus comes first.

And many times it is the SAME bus that goes to two or more of those resorts and/or TTC.
And, many times the AK bus going TO a resort will stop at a Waterpark and pick up guests on the way to the resort.

So, you can board a bus from AK that is going to any of these locations:

TTC/MK
Contemporary
Grand Floridian
Polynesian
(or any combination of the above).

And a good rule-of-thumb: Leave AK at least an hour before your ADR at another park. (Better to spend a few extra minutes at the other location than to be a few minutes late.)

I have WDW Transportation Guide/Map in front of me. To get to the MK from the AK take the bus to the TTC then take the Monorail or Ferryboat to the MK.

As stated earlier, avoid the TTC. Everyone and their brother who is not WDW savvy transfers here and at DTD. It is crowded. I would take the bus to the CR and then walk.

We didn't do this for an immediate connection to get to MK, but we went from AK to AKL then grabbed the bus to MK.

We were going to have dinner at AKL though. The buses weren't crowded at all and it's a pretty short ride from AK to AKL.

However, if I were trying for something more direct, I'd head to GF and get on the monorail (since it's the last monorail stop before MK).

I agree... in the mornings and late evenings.

TTC not near closing or opening time of MK is not too bad at all.

And for gosh sake, why WALK from CR?

Its pleasant enough (and I've done it plenty of times) when its cool and dry outside, but it still is a pretty good distance.

If you just want a "shorter trip to MK" (and/or if the weather is not so great) why not bus to Grand Floridian and take the 3 minute monorail "trip" from there?

I was told by a Disney Cast member yesterday that from AKL by bus to MK it takes about 30 mins. So if you had 8 am reservations you would need to be at the bus by 6:30. We are going for our honeymoon and I was not aware it was such a long ride, but the akl looks really nicely themed even though the lady was kind of rude and asked why I had not picked Grand Floridian. This is our first trip to disney and I wanted to get the full experience of a neat themed place, so her comments made me feel like I made a big mistake, although she then tried to backtrack and assure me it was a great place :confused3 . If you are leaving AKL I would say give yourself at least 30 mins to get to the park, then another few mins walk time. Basically she said you have to travel no matter what hotel you are at it just depends what park you rather be closer to. :bride:

I know I'm going off topic here, but Lostgirlz, if you are staying at the AKL you'll mostly likely love it! It is perhaps my favorite themed resort on property. I mean where else can you walk out on your balcony (or to an observation deck) and have a view of a savannah! The GF is nice too, but I'd rather be at AKL!

That said, AKL is one of the furthest away from all the other parks, except AK. I'd say it can take a minimum of 30 minutes to get from AKL to MK and that is assuming no stops at the water parks, and that traffic is good. It can go quicker, but can also be much longer. Always plan 1 hour commutes (and more if you are going from AKL to another resort because you'll have to wait for a 2nd bus).

Wanna check that MATH again? (6:30 might be a bit early.) :goodvibes

At any rate, the actual bus TRIP from AKL to MK is only about 15-18 minutes.

But you DO need to allow for the bus GETTING there to pick you UP, etc.

The "one hour rule" can get you just about anywhere... EXCEPT to the "Hoop De Doo Review" at FtW. That one (if you don't know exactly what you're doing) can take 90 minutes or so... its about as isolated as you can get at WDW.

(There is a "secret route" that is the most direct on property. It involves MGM, but that's as much as I can say over "non-encrypted" wires.) ;)
