I have read and read and read about this and I still don't know what to do. We are staying at POR. We want a rental car for a one day away from WDW trip. Do we have to get to the Dolphin to rent one or where, how? Do we go to the TTC? How do you get to the rental car desks? Do you call and they deliver it? I have never had to do this before so I am totally clueless and need some guidance. Please help if you can...

Most of the major car rental agencies have sites on Disney property and most have airport-type vans that will pick you up and take you to their office/lot. You need to call your selected company (local number) 24 hours in advance to make a reservation for a pick-up.

Alamo is at the Car Care Center, Alamo and National are at the Dolphin, Hertz is at Shades of Green. Dollar, Avis, and Budget are at the Grosvenor, Hilton, and Doubletree (not positive) hotels in Downtown Disney on Hotel Boulevard. It's really simple to do.

;) Thank you ever so much!

I rented a 1 day car from Alamo at the Dolphin in May. I found out too late that they would pick you up at your resort with advance notice. I rode the bus to MGM and took the boat to the Dolphin to pick up my car. It only cost about $30 for 24 hours.

Did you have to book ahead a day or two ??
Also is this the typical price for a one day rental... I assume being
one day rental, there is not much price difference ??

Yet , i tried online to book a one day from Dollar, and it came up with a rate of 98.00 !!

I am glad I came across this posting. I need a one day car rental to drive from orlando to Fort lauderdale. I priced a car rental from with in disney and unless I did it wrong. I found it cheaper to go to the airport to pick up the car.

It might different for one day rentals, but in the past it has always been cheaper for us to rent (for multiple days) from one of the companies located in the hotels near DTD than from Alamo/National at the Dolphin or CCC or from anyone at the airport. In fact, Dollar at Grosvenor has been cheapest for us the past few times, which is perfect since we usually stay at "home" at SSR!

I reserved a Hertz for about $53 including tax from the Shades of Green hotel. Hertz usually costs a bit more but that isn't a bad price. It will get me to the grocery to refill my wine cellar...:rolleyes1

If you're a member of the Auto Club, check to see if there's a Hertz Local Edition office nearby.

Their rates are far cheaper than their rates at the airport would be.

You can rent a midsize for $143.00 per week, vs. $330.00+ at the airport, and the rate for a single day (under $30.00) is also much lower.

I'd call Hertz (1-800-654-3131) and ask them where the closest HLE office is in relation to your hotel.

If you ask a bus driver at your resort he will get you to the Dolphin. It may take a little bit of time but they have always gotten me to either there or the CCC. :thumbsup2
