Best way to buy a re-sale

Thanks, everyone. Seems like the Timeshare Store is very popular with folks on these boards. DS will be down next week. and we will discuss the options recommended here. Also, thanks to those that sent me private messages, really appreciate it!

We had very professional service from The Timeshare Store and from Jaki at atimeshare.com :thumbsup2 . We ended up buying from Jaki because the contract we wanted came up first, but both companies were terrific and both specialize in Disney resales.

Good luck to you :) .

Are there more resales not on the Timeshare's board? They don't have what we want at the moment on their site. Should I just call Kristie and let her know what I am looking for and then keep my eyes open? If I do that, and Jaki's place gets what I want first am I tied to Kristie?
I would love to use TTS but it may come down to whether they have what we're looking for.

Let those that you are willing to do business with, know what it is you want, whoever comes up with it, that's where you go. After you do purchase, please let the others know you are no longer in the market.

Best wishes,
Tom :sunny:

We bought two contracts from Jaki at A timeshare store and had a great experience. Very professional and knows her stuff about DVC. Both went through without a hitch.

We also worked with a rep at The Timeshare store who was great too, but the listing we wanted came up with Jaki.

Good luck to you!

We visited the TTS on a trip to Disney to make sure we knew who we were about to give alot of our money to. They were great and Jason was amazing.

We were in no rush so we waited for a loaded contract and it did come up but through a private individual and not throught the TSS. It was listed on a Timeshare board private.

We bought it through the seller directly and all went smoothly and we got the contact we wanted. All was done through fax and mail and I believe one phone call from the seller.

Having said that, I would of much preferred to find that contract through the TSS because they do not charge anything extra for a buyer and you get their expertise. We are lucky all went smoothly through Timshare Closing Services and they handled all professionally.

Good Luck.

We checked with most of the DVC resale agencies and ended up purchasing through Lee Reid @ http://www.reid4florida.com/. He made the process user friendly and located exactly what we were looking with a nice "plus" factor. We were able to purchase the home resort we wanted which included banked points and a seller that covered our first years dues. Check all the agents and do a little wheeling and dealing to get what you want. Also keep an eye out for incentives from Disney. Occasionally they have a plan that, even though the per point cost is more, more than makes up for the closing costs you may entail through a resale purchase.

I lurked for many months before even considering the DVC. Then I read everything on resale vs. direct, and I have bought well over 2,500 points from Jason at TTS.
Becoming curious in owning a DVC membership. Why would someone need 2,500 points? Is that for investment? What is the average amount of points needed to stay at BCV or BWV (2 or 3 bedroom villa)??

In my case, my wife and I have decided that early in our retirement years, we would spend 6 months at a 1 BR OKW villa from September 1 to March 31st, each year (snow birding from NJ), and the rest of the time we're gonna drive an RV (if we still have such vehicles in the future!) across our great Country, the rest of the year. We'll need about 5,200 points a year to do this.

Once I enter my dodering years (can't drive an RV safely - but still can drive a car in FL!!!!! :) ), we're gonna move into an OKW studio for the year, which we can do for the same amount of points. Based on the taxes and rate of increase, the costs of maintaining my home, and the projected increases in MFs, in our case, we'll come out ahead living full-time in OKW, and we'll get Trash & Towel and Full Cleanings alternating 4 days, which we wouldn't get in our home.

We also plan to work at the World for free park entry and other perks, if the Mouse will have us!

When we 'take out' the high point weeks we'll be visiting family, Xmas, Easter, Spring Break, etc. We'll have enough points to mix it up alittle with shorter stays at the other resorts as well.

So that's why I want the points, do I need 'em nah, but who needs a 3 carat diamond either. Freedom of choice and the rewards of hard work, we still live in the greatest Country on the Earth!

Plus both Dr. T and the Rinkinator said I could!

YMMV!
