Best viewing spot for Illuminations?

We will be at Epcot on 9/18. We have dinner ressies at Garden Grill for 5:30pm, which means we'll probably be out by 6:30-7:00. We plan to stay for Illuminations. It's our first time seeing the show. Any recommendations for where the best viewing spots are and how long in advance we need to stake them out?

than the best veiw is from the front cab of the monorail, you won't see the whole show but its worth it.

We also have a ressie at Rose and Crown and wanted a patio table for viewing Illuminations.

How long before your ressie did you check in to request the patio table??

Our ressie is at 7:15 p.m. I was thinking of checking in at 6:15.

Also, how was the food at R & C? What did you order?

Our favorite spot is on the bridge between UK and France. I also like the views from Italy and Norway. I think the best and closest views are from the area around Norway. But no matter where you end up, it's a great show!!

I second the Norway vote. Last year DH and I went to Epcot just to see Illuminations (it is my favorite and we try to make it our last event of a trip!). Got to the spot across from Norway, saw an empty bench and claimed it. This was about 7:00. We really didn't want to do anything else. We ate nachos and ended up sharing our bench with a family from Maryland. It was great fun - they had never been to WDW world before so we shared our tips for touring with them. They had two cute little girls. When the show started we simply turned around on the bench to watch. I think we stood up.

I think you can enjoy it from lots of great places around the lagoon. Just don't miss it!!
