Best view from GCH?

Hi everyone,
I'm planning in advance for our trip and we are staying at the GCH in December. We have a standard view room. I know they won't tell us for sure they will accomdate special requests but I was hoping to get some insight on a couple of areas or rooms that either have a better standard view or are better for getting to your room from the parks/elevators/etc. Anyone have a room number or area that is best to request- I'm going to put the request in now (5 months in advance) as well as be checking in about 6 am so hoping that will help with the request. TIA

The majority of standard view rooms are at the front of the hotel. You might consider paying a little extra for the Courtyard/Woods/Garden view, instead of hoping for a free upgrade. I like to request a room near the elevators adjacent to Napa Rose, facing the park. Rooms on higher floors are more expensive theme park view or concierge, but lower floors seem to be classified as Woods view.

...checking in about 6 am so hoping that will help with the request.

Both because rooms have not been assigned, and more importantly the CM can spend more time with you

The best view that has been for us in the past has been DTD or a park view, it will be a long while before we will be able to get there again, but sure fun while it lasted.

I concur with nonsuch. The lower "woods" views into DCA above napa rose seem to be the bees knees. I keep hoping for one. I've been over there as a standard, but facing into the pool area, not on the other side of the hallway.

These rooms all have pretty fast access to DCA and to DL. The only slow part is returning to the room from DL. Going to DL you can use the fire escape stairs. We could be to the DCA or DL gate in about 3 minutes from this room.
